Abstract

Technological developments can present a financial system that is increasingly developing, effective, practical and transparent. From these developments, crowdfunding was born from a social aspect, namely helping each other and mutual cooperation that develops following technological developments. Crowdfunding is not a new concept but has been around for a long time. This article wants to study how relevant equity crowdfunding is used as a funding instrument in sharia Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This study uses library research with secondary data obtained from several books, journals, news articles, and other publications with similar research topics. Equity crowdfunding is considered relevant to be a funding system for sharia MSMEs. It is because the equity crowdfunding system does not charge interest on the part of the user of the fund, in line with sharia MSMEs that require a sharia-based funding system. This study reveals that from an Islamic perspective, equity crowdfunding is following the principles of Islamic sharia, namely avoiding MAGHRIB (maysir, gharar, haram, riba and batil); it is relevant as a funding instrument for MSMEs that produce halal products. Even so, the implementation of equity crowdfunding as a sharia MSME funding system still needs supervision from the Sharia Supervisory Board so that activities in it are monitored and do not go out of sharia principles. Keywords: Equity Crowdfunding; MSMEs; Sharia MSMEs; Funding.

Abstract

This study explores the conceptual distinction between utility and Maṣlaḥah as competing foundations of consumer rationality within Islamic economics. Through an extensive library-based analysis of classical and contemporary literature, the research investigates whether consumption is driven by needs (ḥājah) or desires (raghbah), and how these motivations align with the objectives of conventional versus Islamic economic systems. Findings reveal that while utility emphasizes subjective satisfaction based on individual preferences, Maṣlaḥah offers a more objective, ethical, and purpose-driven approach grounded in the maqāṣid al-sharīʿah. The study highlights that Maṣlaḥah-oriented consumption incorporates both material benefit and spiritual blessing, thus promoting social welfare and moral responsibility beyond individualistic gain. This contrast underscores the epistemological divergence between Islamic and neoclassical economic paradigms in conceptualizing rational behavior. The specific contribution of this study to the international research field lies in its critical reevaluation of rationality in consumer behavior by integrating the normative framework of Maṣlaḥah as an alternative to utilitarianism. It contributes to global scholarship by advancing Islamic economics beyond jurisprudential foundations into behavioral and philosophical dimensions, enriching comparative discourse in economic theory, ethics, and public policy. The research encourages rethinking consumption beyond mere satisfaction, offering a holistic model that integrates ethics, social justice, and sustainable well-being.

Abstract

This study explores the social phenomenon of paying zakat fitrah twice a year, especially among children from divorced families. The study was conducted in Sumenep Regency, Madura. The main issue addressed is the legal validity of double zakat fitrah payments according to the perspectives of Islamic jurists specialising in economic fiqh The research method employed was a literature review using a descriptive-analytical approach to both classical and contemporary literature. The researcher examined the views of the four main schools of Islamic jurisprudence  as well as Yusuf alQaradawi and Wahbah Zuhaili. Data was collected through interviews with residents of Gersik Putih Village to understand the social phenomenon. The research findings indicate that all fiqh schools agree that zakat fitrah is only obligatory to be paid once a year. If zakat is paid more than once on behalf of one individual, the second payment is considered as charity. The phenomenon of double zakat fitrah for children from divorced families is caused by three main reasons: lack of community understanding of zakat law; parents' desire to contribute equally without clear coordination; and lack of socialisation. This study recommends the importance of education on zakat law and strengthening the role of religious leaders in socialising fiqh zakat to the community.

Abstract

In Indonesia, there are many illegal economic problems, but one of the most detrimental to the state is the problem of Illegal, Unregulated, and Unreported Fishing Practices (IUU Fishing) by foreign ships. IUU Fishing is defined as illegal fishing activities, not reported to the authorized fisheries management institution, and fishery activities that have not been regulated in existing regulations. So the role of law enforcement is very important to tackle acts of lawlessness in Indonesian waters. The form of law enforcement is to implement government policies by applying criminal sanctions in the form of fines, confinement, confiscation/confiscation of evidence and sinking foreign ships that steal fish in Indonesian waters. Article 8 of Law no. 45 of 2009 concerning Fisheries states "Everyone is prohibited from catching fish and/or raising fish using chemicals, biological materials, explosives, tools and/or buildings that can harm and/or endanger the sustainability of fish resources and/or the environment in the area. fishery management area of the Republic of Indonesia.” The fact states that the auction with the practice of this fishing mafia can only harm the State of Indonesia because the costs of fishing operations, ship ad hoc fees, mooring ships and feeding the crew during the court process are not commensurate with the auction results that go into the state treasury. The policy regarding the sinking of foreign ships that carry out illegal fishing activities is a significant policy in preventing the occurrence of fishing theft in the marine territory of the Republic of Indonesia. tools and/or buildings that can harm and/or endanger the sustainability of fish resources and/or the environment in the fishery management area of the Republic of Indonesia.” The fact states that the auction with the practice of this fishing mafia can only harm the State of Indonesia because the costs of fishing operations, ship ad hoc fees, mooring ships and feeding the crew during the court process are not commensurate with the auction results that go into the state treasury. Abstract

Corruption cases involving gold pawn (rahn) transactions within Islamic financial institutions highlight critical challenges related to sharia governance, fiduciary responsibility, and asset protection. Despite being founded on ethical and religious principles, sharia-compliant financial products remain vulnerable to financial crimes, particularly in high-value, asset-based transactions. This study examines asset confiscation mechanisms in a gold pawn corruption case in Pamekasan, Indonesia, analyzed through the perspectives of Islamic law and positive law. Employing a qualitative case study approach, this research utilizes statutory regulations, court-related legal documents, institutional reports, and secondary data from verified media and academic literature. The findings demonstrate that asset confiscation serves a dual function: as a legal instrument for state loss recovery under Indonesian anti-corruption law and as a normative mechanism aligned with Islamic legal principles such as amanah (trust), hifz al-mal (protection of property), justice, and public interest (maslahah). This study contributes to the literature by integrating Islamic jurisprudence with contemporary asset recovery discourse, emphasizing that asset confiscation is not merely a procedural legal act but a necessary governance mechanism to strengthen accountability and integrity within Islamic financial institutions. The research underscores the importance of harmonizing Islamic law and modern legal systems to restore public trust and enhance anti-corruption frameworks in sharia-compliant finance.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a significant economic downturn, including in Madura, which necessitates alternative solutions to support community economic resilience, even if the impact is not substantial. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic economic instruments implemented by Islamic boarding school–based microfinance institutions in addressing economic challenges during the Covid-19 period. The research employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative analysis with qualitative data obtained through interviews and observations. This approach allows statistical findings to be complemented by empirical insights into the practical implementation of Islamic microfinance practices, enabling their potential replication by other institutions or communities. he findings indicate that the economic empowerment model applied is based on philanthropy from ummah to ummah, utilizing Islamic instruments such as zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf. The hypothesis testing results show that zakat has a positive and significant effect on economic improvement, with a t-value of 3.287. In contrast, infaq does not have a significant effect, while waqf and alms demonstrate negative but significant partial effects on economic conditions during the Covid-19 period. The standard error of all independent variables is below 5 percent, indicating their overall influence on the Madurese economy during the pandemic. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.718, suggesting that zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf collectively explain 71.8 percent of the variation in economic improvement, while the remaining 28.2 percent is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

Work ethic is defined as a guideline that is oriented towards divine (divine) values. Work ethic is related to achieving material prosperity. This is based on the desire to gain reward or the approval of Allah SWT, so that the work ethic that is carried out becomes a religious and worldly value. There are also those who want to receive material rewards in the form of money or salary, in order to meet their family's needs. However, sometimes rewards in the form of material are sometimes misinterpreted as getting as much reward as possible which will then only be used for fun. In this case, Islam emphasizes several concepts such as patience, honesty and trust in what has been received as a result of the efforts made. This research aims to analyze the concept of gratitude based on work ethic from a hadith perspective carried out at KSPPS BMT Al-Iktisab Kebun Baru, East Java. The approach used is a literature review approach and case studies with qualitative research, then the explanation is strengthened from related articles or research. This data was obtained from hadith books and articles. Then, the data is described from various aspects related to the content analysis method. The results of this research are: 1) The concept of gratitude used in this context teaches the general public to be grateful to humans by sincerely accepting what has been given, so this creates gratitude in the form of thanking Allah SWT. 2) The work ethic that each employee carries out in carrying out their work can make them considered good and get positive views from various parties. 3) Based on the perspective of the hadith that has been explained, it strengthens employees at KSPPS BMT Al-Iktisab Kebun Baru Jatim to continue to be enthusiastic in working, be sincere with what they get and foster a sense of responsibility within themselves. 4) The importance of the concept of gratitude based on the work ethic carried out by employees in all fields of work makes the work they do worth worship and fosters a sense of confidence that everything that happens is determined by Allah SWT.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing Generation Z’s interest in using BYOND for BSI digital banking services, selecting ease of use, security, and service features as independent variables. The researcher used a quantitative approach, conducting a purposive survey of 120 BSI customers in Pamekasan. Data analysis used SPSS version 24 to test validity and reliability, assess classical assumptions, perform multiple linear regression, and test hypotheses. The results showed that ease of use and security had a positive, significant effect on Generation Z’s interest, while service features had no significant partial effect. The regression model explains a significant amount of variation in interest. Theoretically, this study integrates the UTAUT and TAM models in Islamic digital banking for Generation Z, highlighting service features as minimum expectations. The practical implications recommend that BSI improve its UI/UX, security, and innovative features. The limitations of this study include its local scope and low R-squared, and it offers suggestions for broader follow-up research.
