<![CDATA[This research attempts to analyze whether or not there is a positive and significant correlation between students’ habit in watching Western-movie and listening skill. The population of this research is the sixth semester students of English Language Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo, with the total number of sample 31 students. This research uses quantitative correlation design. The instruments used are questionnaire and listening test. Based on the computation manually and using SPSS 25.0, the coefficient correlation score is 0.845, and after being compared with r table with degree of significance 5% (0.355), it can be inferred that is higher than () that is 0.845 > 0.355. Based on the interpretation table proposed by Sugiyono, that score belongs to the very high correlation.]]>

<![CDATA[The aims of this research are to describe the students‘ reading achievement and to find out the effectiveness of using story face in teaching reading narrative text. This research is quantitative using quasi-experimental design with purposive sampling technique. The population was tenth grade students and the sample was the students of X TKR 2 consist of 37 students as experimental group and X TKR 13 consist of 33 students as control group. The technique of collecting data are making instrument, expert judgment and conducting pre-test, treatment and post-test. The pre-test mean score in experimental class was 70.92 and control class was 70.55. Meanwhile, the post-test mean score in experimental class was 68.54 and control class was 67.76. It was obtained that z-value was 0.133 and the z-table was 1.96 for alpha (α) 5%. The z-value was lower than z-table (0.133<1.96) It means that Ha was rejected and Ho was accepted. Therefore, the researcher concludes that story face was ineffective in teaching reading narrative text at the tenth grade students of SMK TKMT Kebume in the academic year of 2019/2020.]]>

<![CDATA[This research belongs to qualitative research. The objectives of this research are to explain E-learning usage and to determine of the students’ responses E-learning Usage in English Language Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo. The unit of analysis of this research is E-learning usage at the students of English Language Education. The subject of this research were the English education students of batch 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo. There are 43 students which are volunteering in answering the questionnaire. The result of the analysis shows that E-learning is easy to use (51,1%), E-learning perceives usefulness (37,2%), E-learning makes their communication and interaction easier and comfortable (48%), and students feel satisfy with E-learning (37,4%). That mean the result of the questionnaire most of them feeling easy and comfortable using E-learning method and the result of this research shows that E-learning is useful and helpful for the students and they felt satisfied with E-learning.]]>

<![CDATA[This basic problem comes to the students’ low vocabulary mastery, teacher’s low creativity in teaching, infectivity of general dictionary to teach vocabulary, teacher’s low creativity in teaching, infectivity of vocabulary teaching and learning methods currently applied, students tend to get bored in learning vocabulary because of the use of monotonous methods. This fundamental problem then lead the researchers to do research which goal is to find out in which using visual dictionary more effective in teaching vocabulary for junior high school. By applying quantitative research, the researchers did research in SMPN 36 Purworejo. Employing Class 8 A taught using visual dictionaryand Class 8 C taught using general dictionary, the researchers then give 20 questions of multiple choice test to evaluate the result of teaching vocabulary. The result of this research shows that the mean score of 8 A is 81.96 and the mean of 8 C is 74.24. Then, from the computation of inferential analysis, it shows that the result of Zvalue(6.98) is lower than Ztable (1.96).From the result, it can be concluded that use of Visual Dictionary in teaching vocabulary skill at the eighth grade is effective.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to find out students’ perception on online learning of English subject during Covid-19 pandemic at SMK N 8 Purworejo. The researchers collected the data through a questionnaire and interviews. There were 72 students of 12th grade at SMK N 8 Purworejo participated in this research. This research used mixed method approach combined qualitative and quantitative approaches. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze data from questionnaire and thematic analysis was used to analyze data from interview. The result of this research shows that 12th grade students of SMK N 8 Purworejo have “medium” perception toward the implementation of online learning during Covid-19 pandemic. The mean score of the questionnaire was 3.21 that lays on the range between 2.60 – 3.39 which can be interpreted in the “Medium” category. Besides, there were several difficulties faced by students and teachers. This difficulties, such as the bad signal or internet connection, the lack of variation on online learning methods and media platform in online learning, and the lack of interaction that occurs during online learning between students and teachers, and students with students. These difficulties make online learning becomes less effective.]]>

<![CDATA[Tujuan dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat di SMAN 4 Purworejo adalah untuk membantu dan mendampingi para siswa kelas 12 mengatasi permasalahan menjelang diselenggarakannya Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) yaitu stres yang tinggi, tingkat kejenuhan juga tinggi, serta mood belajar yang cenderung rendah sehingga mereka memerlukan suatu sistem pembelajaran yang menyenangkan sekaligus meningkatkan kesiapan menghadapi Ujian Nasional khususnya Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Solusi dari Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Prodi PBI UMPurworejo adalah dengan sistem pembelajaran di luar kelas (Outdoor Learning System) yang dikemas dalam bentuk permainan ala outbound yang terdapat 4 (empat) pos yaitu vocabulary corner, reading power, listening, dan grammar knowledge. Setelah pelaksanaan pengabdian, poin penting yang bisa diperoleh yaitu tingkat stress cenderung turun, tingkat kebahagiaan siswa naik, mood siswa cenderung naik, serta tingkat pengetahuan Bahasa Inggris para siswa dilihat dari rata-ratanya juga naik dari 72 ke 84 sehingga penggunaan Outdoor Learning System ini cukup efektif.]]>

<![CDATA[Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah untuk membantu remaja karang taruna untuk mengembangkan skill dalam mengoprasikan komputer. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut metode pengembagan skill adalah dengan melalui pelatihan. Sasaran Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah para remaja karang taruna di Desa Polowangi Kecamatan Pituruh Kabupaten Purworejo dengan jumlah populasi adalah 40 orang. Permasalahan diselesaikan dalam tiga (3) tahapan kegiatan, yakni persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap persiapan yang dilakukan adalah menganalisa masalah dan kebutuhan remaja karang taruna untuk mengoperasikan MS Office yang meliputi Word, Excel, dan Power Point.. Tahap kedua yaitu pelaksanaan terbagi menjadi beberapa sesi yaitu pembukaan, penyampaian teori dasar mengenai ketiga software tersebut. Tahap ketiga yakni evaluasi dengan meminta umpan balik peserta melalui kuesioner tentang pemahaman materi. <![CDATA[Menulis artikel untuk diterbitkan di jurnal ilmiah menjadi salah satu permasalahan mendasar bagi kalangan edukatif. Seperti yang dihadapi oleh para guru di SMAN 9 Purworejo, pada dasarnya para guru tersebut mempunyai ide ataupun gagasan mengenai metode ajar, media ajar, dan lain sebagainya namun masih kesulitan untuk menuangkannya menjadi karya ilmiah berbentuk artkel. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan para guru dalam membuat dan menghasilkan artikel ilmiah yang terbit di jurnal nasional. Metode yang digunakan oleh tim pengabdian adalah pertemuan tatap muka yang memberikan pemahaman serta tips dan trik dalam menulis artikel ilmiah. Follow up nya yaitu dengan membuat grup WA untuk memonitor perkembangan pembuatan artikel sekaligus utnuk menampung dan memecahkan permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh para guru seperti pencarian pustaka, dan lain sebagainya. Hasil evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa dari 21 guru peserta workshop, sebanyak 18 guru (86%) telah memiliki judul yang relevan dan telah dihaluskan bahasanya oleh tim dan sebanyak 10 guru (47%) telah memulai penulisan dalam kurun waktu 2 minggu setelah workshop dilaksanakan. Proses pembimbingan berjalan intensif melalui grup WA. Selain itu, tim menemukan bahwa lebih dari 90% guru lebih memahami mengenai bagaimana cara memulai membuat ataupun menulis artikel ilmiah. Dengan adanya workshop penulisan artikel ilmiah di SMAN 9 Purworejo, permasalahan klasik berhubungan dengan rendahnya produktifitas menulis karya imiah guru dapat terselesaikan dan para guru bisa menulis karya ilmiah untuk diterbitkan di jurnal nasional.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed at knowing the students’ perception on online assessment of English subject during Covid-19 pandemic and the influence of online assesment on learning achievment of the students at grade X Mechanical Engineering at SMK N 2 Kebumen. This research uses mixed method. The population of this study is 108 students, and the researcher used purposive sampling to select 72 students as the sample.Research data obtained with the interview, questionnaire and documentation. The result of the mean score of students’ perception of online assessment in tenth grade students of SMK N 2 Kebumen was 74.53 which is categorized as “good”, whereas the mean score of students’ English achievement was 81.81 which is categorized as “excellent. Based on the calculation the value of r is lower than r table (0.059) < (0.235). It means that the students’ perception of online assessment does not influence on students’ achievement of English subject during Covid-19 pandemic in X grade students of SMK N 2 Kebumen. The coefficient determination R2 is 0.000. It implied that students’ perception does not contribute to the students’ English achievement (0%).]]>
