Abstract

Physics is a subject related to the environment so that it requires students to study nature and apply it in life. However, in learning sometimes students have difficulty understanding physics concepts and cause students to experience misconceptions. Therefore, a two-tier multiple choice diagnostic test is needed to analyze students' misconceptions. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the two-tier multiple choice diagnostic test to analyze students' misconceptions in terms of content validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research model is instrument development. The research design used is true experiment research with pretest posttest control. The subject of this research is class X MIPA MA Negeri Purworejo. Data collection in this study used validation sheets, observation sheets, student response questionnaires, and two-tier multiple choice diagnostic tests. The results showed that: 1) content validation for the construct and language aspects obtained from 3 validators got an Aiken V index of 1 for all items included in the high validity category, 2) a practical two-tier multiple choice diagnostic test in terms of sheets. observations with reliable categories and good responses and responses from students, 3) student learning outcomes have increased with an N-gain of 0.5 which is included in the medium category and students' misconceptions are found on the subject of momentum, impulse, and collision by 41.20% which is at medium level. Thus the two-tier multiple choice diagnostic test is declared valid, practical, and effective so that it is feasible to analyze students' misconceptions in learning physics.

Abstract

Psychomotor relates to learning outcomes that are achieved through skills as a result of knowledge competence. Learning that still uses the demonstration method and has not optimized learning activities in the laboratory. This study aims to determine how implementing a virtual home learning laboratory improves students' psychomotor abilities. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample used in this study was 46 respondents from the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department at Senior High School 8 Purworejo, Indonesia. The research sample consisted of two classes: the control and experimental classes. The instruments used in this study were learning implementation sheets, psychomotor observation sheets, student response questionnaires, and students' psychomotor ability test instruments. The data analysis technique in this research is quantitative, and the t-test. The analysis of test data using the N-gain test obtained 0.75 for the experimental class with high category and 0.29 for the control class with low category results. The statistical analysis results of the independent sample t-test show that laboratory implementation affects the psychomotor abilities of students.

Abstract

Literasi siswa saat ini sedang gencar dicanangkan di sekolah, tujuannya yaitu untuk meningkatkan semua aspek literasi pada peserta didik. Namun demikian, kemampuan literasi belum diimbangi dengan kemampuan menulis terutama ilmiah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan pendampingan bagi siswa dalam menulis karya ilmiah yang sesuai dengan kaidah penulisan yang baik dan benar. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pelatihan partisipatif dengan fokus utama pada kemampuan siswa dalam menulis. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini yaitu siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 10 Purworejo yang mengikuti ekstrakurikuler KIR. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan positif pada siswa terkait kemampuan menulis, menyusun gagasan, melaksanakan kegiatan ilmiah, dan menyusun laporan dalam bentuk karya tulis ilmiah. Kegiatan ini berlangsung dengan baik sehingga luaran dari kegiatan maupun tujuan kegiatan pengabdian tercapai dengan baik.

Abstract

Gula aren merupakan komoditi yang saat ini belum banyak digeluti oleh generasi milenial terutama di desa, padahal gula aren memiliki potensi dan prospek ekonomi yang bagus. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini untuk memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat dalam pengemasan dan promosi digital produk gula aren dan turunannya. Metode yang digunakan adalah workshop dan diskusi interaktif, adapun sebagai mitra yaitu ibu-ibu pengrajin gula aren dan pelaku UMKM di desa Sedayu, kecamatan Loano, Purworejo. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan ketercapaian tujuan pengabdian dan pemahaman mitra tentang inovasi produksi gula aren dalam hal kualitas dan kuantitas. Selain itu, pengemasan yang semula menggunakan daun pisang kering atau plastik diubah menjadi kemasan yang bersih dan higienis. Untuk pemasaran mitra telah memiliki digital marketing melalui e-commerce maupun media sosial untuk promosi kepada masyarakat luas. Hasil ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan tindakan dalam upaya meningkatkan perekonomian warga melalui gula aren.

Abstract

The achievement of students’ learning outcomes in physics lessons has a low tendency, this is due to various factors, one of which is higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) based learning that has not been fully implemented in the learning process and assessment. This study aimed to determine the differences in the Synectic-HOTS learning model in physics compared to conventional learning models. This study used a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test–post-test nonequivalent control group design. The instrument used in this study is a two-tier test question that contains 20 items of HOTS aspect. The prerequisite test showed that the data was not homogeneous, while the results of the data homogeneity test were stated to be homogeneous. Therefore, a non-parametric test was carried out using the Mann-Whitney U-test. Based on the results of the data analysis, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) for the pre-test was 0.111 and the post-test was 0.001 (p=.000<05). The effect size calculation shows that the Synectic learning model is effective in the medium category. These results indicate that the application of the SynecticHOTS model significantly improves HOTS when compared to conventional learning models. This work can open up insights to teachers about alternative, creative, and effective learning models to improve higher-order thinking skills and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

In science learning, students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and scientific attitudes are still low. Problems become increasingly complex when the COVID-19 pandemic minimally transforms students' interactions with their community environment. Innovation is needed to obtain an experimental model integrated with the Arduino Internet of Things to enhance HOTS and scientific attitudes. This research aims to obtain a valid and practical Arduino-based experiment model and its effect on HOTS and scientific attitudes. This research and development refers to Borg and Gall consisting of research and collecting of information, planning, initial product development, initial testing, main product revision, main field testing, operational product revision, operational field testing, final product revision, and dissemination. The research subjects involved were physics lecturers, education practitioners, and physics education students in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Enhancing HOTS after implementing an experiment is calculated using the Multivariate Analysis of Variance. The arduino based experiments model has proven feasible, practical, and effectively applied to improve students' HOTS and scientific attitudes. The results become an innovative alternative laboratory work model to be used as a policy recommendation in higher education.
