Abstract

Agribusiness micro and small industries (MSI) have contributions in economic and social aspects. Financial institutions provide facilities and products to increase the accessibility of capital for Agribusiness MSIs. This study aims to analyze the influence of banks and non-bank financial institutions on the growth of micro and small food and non-food agribusiness industries. This study uses secondary data from potential village surveys in 2018 and 2022 with 82,900 villages in Indonesia annually. Data were analyzed using the Fixed Effect Model in Stata 15.0 software. The results show that four variables significantly positively affect Agribusiness MSIs: non-bank financial institutions (savings and loan cooperatives), electricity index, infrastructure and distribution index, and telecommunications and information index. The disaggregation results based on Agribusiness MSIs sector (food and non-food) show that the food and non-food agribusiness MSIs is positively and significantly influenced by non-bank financial institutions (saving and loan cooperative), the electricity index, as well as the telecommunication and information index. However, bank financial institutions, as well as infrastructure and distribution indexes, only have a significant positive effect on non-food Agribusiness MSIs. Alternative to increasing the number of Agribusiness MSIs units can be done with government support through policies to optimize the role of cooperatives and distribute infrastructure, especially related to telecommunications and information.

Abstract

Effective management of working capital is essential for the profitability and long-term sustainability of micro and small-scale processed food businesses. However, at present, the business has not yet developed strong competency in managing working capital efficiently. This can certainly increase the potential for business bankruptcy, especially in the processed food business. This research examines the impact of working capital management, liquidity, and solvency ratios on the profitability of 1,563 micro and 241 small processed food enterprises in Indonesia. Multiple linear regression is used to assess the relationship between working capital management and profitability. The independent variables include the payable deferral period, inventory conversion period, current ratio, and debt-to-asset ratio, while profitability, as the dependent variable, is measured by return on assets (ROA). The findings indicate that both the payable deferral period and debt-to-asset ratio significantly affect the profitability of micro and small businesses, with the current ratio having a particular effect on the profitability of small businesses. These findings suggest that improving financial management practices, such as daily sales optimization and enhanced cash flow monitoring, could significantly enhance profitability in the micro and small processed food sector.

Abstract

AbstractThe consumption trend of coffee downstream products is increasing every year. However, the high variation in the quality of raw materials on the upstream side impacts agroindustrial activities. The limited capacity of processed coffee production indicates that coffee processing activities are not optimal. High competition and individual business activities cause the upstream and downstream linkage of the coffee industry to be limited. The research objective is to analyze the conceptual model of coffee agro-industry development based on the complexity of problems faced by the actors. Primary and secondary data are used as the basis for compiling the conceptual model of the coffee agro-industry using Vensim Software PLE 9.3.5x64. The conceptual sub-models built are farmers, intermediary traders, and processors. Coffee agro-industry is developed by improving the quality and continuity of raw materials, processing capacity, and the actors' skills. Quality and production are connecting variables of the three submodels built. The quality of raw materials produced by farmers will improve the quality of processed coffee. Improving the quality of raw materials is not only from using superior seeds but also from the technical skills of the actors involved. Increased processing capacity can increase the absorption capacity of the coffee agro-industry. Keywords: coffee, dynamic model, intermediary traders, processors, farmers Abstrak Tren konsumsi produk hilir kopi meningkat setiap tahun, tetapi variasi yang tinggi pada kualitas bahan baku di sisi hulu berdampak pada kegiatan agroindustri. Kapasitas produksi olahan kopi yang terbatas mengindikasikan bahwa kegiatan pengolahan kopi belum optimal. Persaingan yang tinggi dan kegiatan usaha yang individual menyebabkan linkage hulu dan hilir industri kopi terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis model konseptual pengembangan agroindustri kopi berdasarkan kompleksitas permasalahan yang dihadapi para pelaku agroindustri kopi. Penelitian dilakukan di Kabupaten Lampung Barat, Provinsi Lampung, Indonesia. Data primer dan sekunder digunakan sebagai dasar penyusunan model konseptual agroindustri kopi dengan menggunakan Software Vensim PLE 9.3.5x64. Submodel konseptual yang dibangun adalah petani, pedagang perantara, dan pengolah. Pengembangan agroindustri kopi dilakukan melalui peningkatan kualitas dan kontinyuitas bahan baku, kapasitas pengolahan, dan skill para pelaku yang terlibat. Kualitas dan produksi menjadi variabel penghubung dari ketiga submodel yang dibangun. Kualitas bahan baku yang dihasilkan petani akan meningkatkan kualitas mutu kopi olahan. Peningkatan kualitas bahan baku dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan bibit unggul dan peningkatan skill teknis dari para pelaku yang terlibat. Peningkatan kapasitas pengolahan dapat meningkatkan daya serap agroindustri kopi.Kata kunci: kopi, model dinamis, pedagang perantara, pengolah, petani

Abstract

Cooperatives are institutions that are expected to become pillars or pillars of the nationaleconomy and as an institution of the people's economic movement, where members are themain force possessed by cooperatives. Cooperatives have many advantages when comparedto corporations or other business entities, including being able to create economies of scalebecause cooperatives can produce more output with lower average costs and are able tocompete because cooperatives can create bargaining positions. Being a member of acooperative will be very beneficial if seen from the advantages possessed by the cooperative.In addition to the considerable potential of cooperatives, cooperatives also face challenges intheir development. The challenges for cooperatives are increasingly supported because todaywe are in the Industrial 4.0 era. The cause of the many challenges faced by cooperatives isbecause of the lifestyle changes of millennials that are so fast and uncertain (disruptive), dueto the rapid development of information technology, robotic, artificial intelligence,transportation, and communication. Survey conducted by researchers with 86 respondentswith an age range of 18-30 years, showed that the millennial generation considerscooperatives still relevant for now, which is 82.4% of 86 respondents stated cooperatives arestill relevant. This indicates that cooperatives are still very potential to be developed in thecurrent millennial era but rebranding is needed so that cooperatives can be accepted bymillennials. The rebranding can be carried out by making various innovations, one of whichis the Millennial Cooperative (Mi-Co) being a cooperative concept that is in accordance withthe principles, values, and identity of cooperatives in their operations as well as in accordancewith millennial characteristics.

Abstract

Perkaretan Indonesia saat ini tidak sedang dalam kondisi baik. Banyak pabrik pengolahan karet remah yang sudah mengalami penutupan. Jika kondisi tersebut tidak segera di atasi, bukan tidak mungkin karet alam Indonesia akan segera punah. Indonesia sebagai negara dengan lahan karet terluas di dunia dan produsen karet terbesar kedua perlu segera memikirkan langkah-langkah strategis untuk memitigasinya. Beberapa alternatif kebijakan yang dapat diusulkan adalah peningkatan penyerapan karet alam domestik melalui sektor pertanian, pertambangan, kesehatan, otomotif, infrastruktur, dan gaya hidup. Pilihan kebijakan yang dipilih adalah peningkatan konsumsi domestik melalui sektor infrastruktur berdasarkan analisis tabel input-output 2016.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim saat ini menjadi isu utama dunia, target kenaikan suhu untuk mencegah terjadinya perubahan iklim adalah 1,5 1,5-2oC sejak revolusi industri tahun 1760. Namun, kenaikan suhu bumi rata rata-rata sudah men capai 1,1 1,1oC dari tahun acuan. Artinya semakin penting bagi setiap negara untuk melakukan adaptasi dan mitigasi perubahan iklim dalam pembangunan ekonominya. Indonesia dapat memanfaatkan momentum sebagai presidensi G20 tahun 2022, untuk menyepakati upaya bersama diantara anggota G20 dalam pembangunan ekonomi hijau dan dekarbonisasi/pembangunan nol emisi yang sudah ditargetkan dunia pada tahun 2050 atau 2060. Hal ini sesuai dengan tema G20 tahun ini yakni kesatuan sistem kesehatan global, transformasi digital, dan transisi energi. Pembangunan rendah karbon melalui perdagangan karbon berbasis praktik pertanian ramah lingkungan diharapkan dapat menjadi keunggulan komparatif yang dapat dimanfaatkan dengan baik.

Abstract

Along with the energy and environmental pollution problems, demand for coconut shell charcoal in the international market has experienced an increasing trend in the last decade. However, the value of Indonesian exports of coconut shells frequently experiences fluctuating conditions. Seeing the increasing demand for this product and the intense competition between producing countries in the international market, shows that Indonesian coconut shell charcoal has the potential to be developed. This research aims to analyze the dynamics of competitiveness and market position of Indonesian coconut shell charcoal exports in ten major export destination countries (Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Japan, Iraq, China, Türkiye, Germany, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, and Netherlands) using the Dynamic Revealed Comparative Advantage (DRCA) method. The DRCA analysis findings indicate that, in the ten major export destination countries, the dynamics of Indonesia's coconut shell charcoal exports competitiveness shows a fluctuating state with the best export competitiveness dynamic position in the South Korean and Japanese markets. However, the export market position of Indonesian coconut shell charcoal has also decreased from a Rising Star in Period I (2010–2014) to Leading Retreat in Period III (2019–2022). The implication is that Indonesian coconut shell charcoal products are stated to have weak export competitiveness in the main export destination countries. Therefore, export-oriented competitiveness development strategies such as improving the product quality, increasing effective promotion and marketing efforts, and improving market access are very necessary to strengthen Indonesian coconut shell charcoal's competitive position in export destination countries.

Abstract

The engagement of entrepreneurs in the agricultural industry is essential to generate business growth and sustainability through Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). However, the sector contributes less to the GRDP of Bogor Regency. The competence of agricultural entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial ecosystems causes this condition. Meanwhile, productive entrepreneurship can occur through interactions between business owners and their environment. So, this research aimed to analyze the entrepreneurial ecosystem's constructions and role in agricultural entrepreneurship productivity in Bogor Regency. The research used a quantitative approach and followed the Structural Equation Model (SEM) technique. The results of primary data obtained by interviewing 110 respondents using a Likert-scale questionnaire showed that this study strengthens the theory of entrepreneurial ecosystems that empirically contribute to entrepreneurial productivity geographically and in terms of industry specifications. Enhancing high-growth entrepreneurs, increasing income, and growing new businesses are related to entrepreneurial ecosystem’ roles. Hence, reinforcing essential elements of ecosystems was concluded as the practical implications of the findings.

Abstract

Value chain governance within hydroponic systems plays a critical role in optimizing every stage, from product design to marketing. This study aims to analyze the governance structure established in the value chain of hydroponic leaf vegetables. Primary data were collected through structured interviews using questionnaires and field observations. The sampling method employed was snowball sampling, involving a total of 9 farmers, 2 collectors, and 1 retailer as respondents. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively using a descriptive approach, referring to the value chain analysis framework proposed by Kaplinsky. The findings reveal that the type of governance in the hydroponic leaf vegetable value chain in Bogor Regency is categorized as modular governance. This governance type reflects a high degree of independence among actors within the value chain, coupled with strong coordination and adherence to established standards. These results provide insights into the efficiency and adaptability of modular governance in supporting sustainable and technologically driven agricultural practices.

Abstract

Kabupaten Bogor memiliki aktivitas ekonomi dominan dan unggulan pada sektor pertanian. Akan tetapi, kontribusi sektor pertanian masih lebih rendah dibandingkan sektor lain. Kinerja ekonomi sektor dan PDRB sering digunakan sebagai pendekatan pengukuran untuk pengembangan sektor industri di kawasan, sementara pendekatan karakteristik kewirausahaan belum banyak diadopsi pada pengembangan kawasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik kewirausahaan yang dapat menjadi indikator potensi pengembangan wilayah serta menganalisis potensi pengembangan sektor pertanian berbasis karakteristik kewirausahaan di Kabupaten Bogor. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif, data sekunder tahun 2021-2023 dianalisis menggunakan analisis komponen utama dan analisis kluster k-means. Hasil analisis mengonfirmasi bahwa karakteristik kewirausahaan yang menjadi pembeda utama antar kluster antara lain jumlah wirausaha pertanian, skala usaha, sub sektor usaha pertanian, asal investor, bentuk usaha dan tingkat risiko usaha. Sementara itu, wilayah Kabupaten Bogor terbagi menjadi empat kluster, dengan mayoritas kecamatan berada dalam kategori cukup.
