Abstract

Non-conformance occurs due to unavoidable production process, and there is need to reduce the potential occurrences as well as provide a solution to minimize the level of mismatch.  This study aims to identify the percentage and types of discrepancy experienced, by analyzing process capabilities and identify underlying factors in inconsistency. The research was performd in May 2018 at the department of process PT Sugar Labinta, Tanjung Sari, Lampung Selatan. Furthermore, analysis involved the six sigma method with a structured DMAIC approach, while the tools used include check sheet, caused diagram, p-control chart, and Pareto diagram. The results were then processed with the Minitab 18 software, which demonstrated the level sigma process in PT Sugar Labinta to be 5,04 with a DPMO of 238,32. The table of achievement indicates the company performance to be at an average level, in contrast with industries in the USA. However, the level of Sigma 6 is attainable under the circumstances where product-related inconsistences do not exceed 8 tonnes per month.

Abstract

MSMEs play an important role in the success of community food diversification. Diversification of cassava food into rice substitution is known as analogue rice, in traditional terms it is called "tiwul". The Local Staple Food Development Model (MP3L) in Lampung Province introduced tiwul as a rice analog with the label "beras-siger". This study was conducted to compare and analyze the structure of costs and revenues, as well as the financial viability of Rice-analog that is produced by SMEs. The research location was Margomulyo Village, Jati Agung sub-district, South Lampung Regency as participants in the MP3L program. Non-participating MSMEs were in the production centers of East Lampung, Central Lampung, and Tulang Bawang districts. The business criteria assessment method from the financial aspect is used to determine the condition of financial feasibility. The results showed that the cost structure for participants and non-program participants differed in the value component of production equipment. The participants of the beras-siger business program are not eligible yet. Financial feasibility could reach through fulfilling the production capacity as installed capacity of production equipment. While the non-program participants are financially viable. Non-participant program entrepreneurs are relatively resilient to the changes in input prices and decreases in output prices. Beras-siger SMEs can be a strong basis for rural bio-industry development.

Abstract

The price of agricultural products usually fluctuates cause of seasonal harvesting, bulky, voluminous, and the distance of the production centre to consumers.  This activity was conducted to build an initiative of the farmer association (Gapoktan) to self-governing over sub-terminal agribusiness (STA).  Extention and technical assistance were approached to solve their problem. Based on the analysis performed that STA has an important role in solving the weakness in the market.  STA is a power to strengthen the Gapoktan in facing market restrictions. The success of the establishment of STA in the production centre depends on the managerial ability of the STA management board.  They must push hard to build synergy between production and the market network.  After following the extension, member of the farmer association had been increased their knowledge about the requirement of STA establishment and STA management.  Technical assistance is delivered separately.  Gapoktan Sumber Katon initiated the self-governing STA focussed on horticulture production link with the market.  Besides Gapoktan Srikandi established the self-governing STA focussed on rice production. Development activities for pioneering Agribusiness Sub Terminals at Gapoktan in Kab. Pringsewu resulted in the establishment of a self-supporting STA in the centre of farming production.            Keywords: agriculture; farmer group; Gapoktan; self-governing; terminal-market.

Sampling using sampling, namely taking several samples in a group and using a structured questionnaire as the main data collection tool to obtain specific information and the number of respondents was 3 industries . Data analysis uses financial analysis and sensitivity analysis. The results showed that the production process for the tempe home industry went through several stages, namely peeling, washing, boiling, fermenting, and packaging. The Tempe Industry in the Terusan Nunyai District which is currently being implemented is said to be financially feasible because based on the investment criteria it is above the maximum feasibility limit. This can be shown by the Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp. 125,786,982, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 37%, Net B/C ratio with a value of 1.99, Break Even Point (BEP) that is for 4 years 7 months 1 day and Payback Period (PBP) for 4 months 20 days. The sensitivity analysis shows that the tempe home industry is proven to be insensitive to changes from an increase in raw material costs and a decrease in revenue of 4.5% for the tempe home industry. The result of these changes is that all investment criteria still meet the criteria, so that home industries are still feasible to run.
