Abstract

Colostrum is a newborn's first food which is very important for the newborn's antibodies against bacteria, germs and viruses. Colostrum can play a role in protecting the baby's body from infections and bacteria because colostrum contains immunoglobulin substances. Applying warm compresses to the breasts can facilitate colostrum production. Warm compresses will increase blood circulation in the breasts so that oxytocin production will also increase and make colostrum production smoother. This study aims to determine the effect of warm breast compresses on colostrum production in primigravida mothers at the Saumi Midwife Clinic, Trading City. This research uses a quasi-experimental research design with a one group pretest posttest design. The population in this study were all primigravida mothers who visited the Saumi Midwife Clinic in Trading City. Sampling in this study used a purposive sampling technique based on inclusion and exclusion criteria of 15 samples. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Based on the research results, it was found that there was an effect of warm breast compresses on colostrum production in primigravida mothers with a p-value =0.004

Abstract

Malnutrition is a nutritional problem that is still quite a lot in Indonesia and still really needs to be addressed so it doesn't have negative impacts that are detrimental to both the toddlers themselves or their families and the country. The prevalence of malnutrition in Indonesia is still high and needs to be addressed and prevented so that the number does not increase. One of the factors that can cause a toddler to be malnourished is the mother's lack of knowledge regarding well balanced nutrition to give to toddlers. Therefore, in this service, balanced nutrition socialization is carried out for mothers of toddlers in an effort to prevent malnutrition in toddlers. This community service activity was carried out at the Rugun Midwife Independent Work Practice Clinic on May 10-16 2023. This community service activity was carried out in the form of socialization and was carried out in several stages, namely planning, education and final evaluation. The results of this activity show that mothers under five are very enthusiastic in participating in activities and listening to what is conveyed by the speakers. This is also shown by the results of the pre-test and post-test which show that the mother's knowledge after being given socialization increases in a better direction. It is necessary to carry out further analysis related to changes in attitudes and behavior of mothers under five in an effort to prevent malnutrition in toddlers at the Rugun Midwife Independent Work Practice Clinic.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women in developing countries, primarily due to delays in early detection. According to data from the World Health Organization, there are more than 342,000 cervical cancer-related deaths each year, with 90% of these cases occurring in low- and middle-income countries. In Indonesia, cervical cancer ranks as the second most common cancer after breast cancer, with over 36,000 new cases annually and a death toll reaching 18,000. Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (IVA) is a simple and affordable screening method that can be performed at primary healthcare facilities. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge, attitudes, and readiness of couples of reproductive age (CoRA) in conducting early detection of cervical cancer through family-based education. The activity was carried out using lectures supported by media such as leaflets and videos. A total of 30 CoRA participants from the Sukorame health center area took part in the program. The education was delivered through lectures, interactive discussions, and educational video screenings. The education on VIA screening for couples of reproductive age proved effective in improving their understanding, attitudes, and readiness to carry out early detection of cervical cancer. Prior to the education, most participants lacked awareness about the importance of VIA screening. However, after the session, there was a significant increase in knowledge (86.67%), willingness to undergo screening (66.67%), and shared awareness between partners (60%) about the importance of early detection. This interactive and contextual educational approach was effective in building awareness and encouraging preventive action at both family and community levels.

Abstract

The results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2013 showed that the percentage of children with gross motor development disorders in Indonesia was 12.4%. The child's ability to move (motor) is closely related to one aspect of motion, namely dynamic balance. Dynamic balance is the ability to maintain balance when the body is moving. Any disturbance in balance will affect the child's ability to carry out activities. Balance is the integration of the visual, somatosensory and musculoskeletal systems that will adapt to the environment. This system develops during childhood. Until 10 years, control of dynamic balance in children is not as excellent as in adults. This study was to determine the effect of giving bridging and tightrope walker exercises for dynamic balance in preschoolers. This study is a quasi-experimental with a pre-test & post-test one group design. The sample in this study was 11 children of preschool age at Posyandu Regensi Pratama Depok. The treatments were bridging and tightrope walker exercises. The bridging exercise should be done with holding for 5 seconds, gradually increasing to 10 seconds for 3 sets of 10 repetitions with a rest time between sets of 10 seconds. Meanwhile the tightrope walker exercise is done for 10 repetitions. Training sessions were conducted 2 times a week for 6 weeks. The measuring instrument used is PBS (Pediatric Balance Scale). The research data obtained p value = 0.003 which means that bridging and tightrope walker exercises can increase the level of dynamic balance in preschooler children (p <0.05). The results of this study can be used as a reference to make exercise programs for dynamic balance in preschooler children.
