Abstract

Penelitian ini  bertujuan  untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan  dan produksi tanaman jagung terhadap metode pengolahan tanah dan pemberian pupuk kandang sapi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Asam Kumbang, Kecamatan Medan Selayang, Medan, Sumatera, pada bulan Februari-Agustus 2016 menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terpisah (RPT) dengan menggunakan dua faktor perlakuan yaitu faktor petak utama adalah metode pengolahan tanah yang terdiri dari : T0 (tanpa olah), T1 (satu kali olah) dan T2 (dua kali olah) dan faktor anak petak adalah pemberian pupuk kandang sapi yang terdiri dari : K1 (pupuk buatan), K2 (10 ton/ha), K3 (20 ton/ha), dan K4 (30 ton/ha). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada perlakuan pengolahan tanah berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 4 Minggu Setelah Tanaman (MST), bobot segar tongkol berklobot, bobot segar tongkol tanpa klobot, bobot segar tongkol berklobot per plot, bobot segar tongkol tanpa klobot per plot. Perlakuan pupuk kandang sapi berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 3-8 MST, diameter batang, luas daun, indeks luas daun, umur berbunga, bobot segar akar, bobot segar tongkol berklobot, bobot segar tongkol tanpa klobot, bobot segar tongkol berklobot per plot dan bobot segar tongkol tanpa klobot per plot. Interaksi antara kedua perlakuan berpengaruh tidak nyata pada semua paramameter pengamatan. Produksi bobot segar tongkol berklobot per plot terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan pengolahan tanah dua kali dan pemberian pupuk buatan atau pupuk kandang sapi 30 ton/ha.   Kata Kunci : Jagung Manis, Pengolahan Tanah, Pupuk Kandang Sapi.

Abstract

The objective of the research is know the response of growth and production of two varieties soybean on applicating of Organic Liquid Fertilizer. The research was conducted in UPT Balai Benih Induk (BBI) Palawija Tanjung Selamat, Kecamatan Medan Sunggal, Kabupaten Deli Serdang Medan, started from Juny until September 2016,  used factorial randomized block design with 2 factors. The first factor is varieties (Cikuray, Detam-2) and the second factor is Applicating of Organic Liquid Fertilizer (Control, Rabbit’s urine, Cow’s urine, Goat’s urine ). The result of this reseach showed that varieties were significantly effect to plant height 2, 3 and 6 week after planting (WAP), root dry weight, the number of pods fullness per plant, the number of pods empty per plant, dry weight of 100 seeds, dry weight of seeds per plant, dry weight of seeds per plots. Application organic liquid fertilizer were not significantly effected all parameters. Interaction of varieties and application of Organic Liquid Fertilizer were not effected all parameters. Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan balai UPT. Balai Benih Induk Palawija Tanjung Selamat, Sumatera Utara pada Oktober 2016 – Januari 2017, menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial dengan dua faktor yaitu pemberian dosis kompos kulit buah kakao (0, 113, 225, 338 g/polibag) dan dosis pupuk NPK (0, 4, 8, 12 g/polibag). Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi bibit kakao, diameter batang bibit kakao, jumlah daun bibit kakao, total luas daun bibit kakao, bobot basah tajuk bibit kakao, bobot kering tajuk bibit kakao, bobot basah akar bibit kakao, bobot kering akar bibit kakao, rasio bobot kering tajuk – akar bibit kakao.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pemberian kompos kulit buah kakao berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang dan bobot kering tajuk. Pada perlakuan pemberian pupuk NPK berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter bobot basah tajuk dan bobot kering tajuk. Interaksi antara kedua perlakuan berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter diameter batang, bobot kering tajuk, dan total luas daun. Kata Kunci : bibit kakao,  kompos kulit buah kakao, pupuk npk

Abstract

Seed maturity is the one of important factors in germination process. Physiologically immature seeds generally do not have sufficient food reserves and seed structure are not fully formed, which may inhibit germination processes. One effort that can be done to accelerate the process of seed germination to soaking seeds in the water. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Technology, Agriculture Faculty, North Sumatera University, Medan, from December 2016 to  February 2017, using a randomized block design with 3 factors. The first factor is fruit  maturity with 3 levels: immature; mature, the second factor is water temperature with 2 levels: 28⁰ C; 9⁰ C and the third factor is the length of soaking with 3 levels: 12 hours; 24 hours; 36 hours. The results interaction treatments fruit mature, water temperature 9⁰ C and soaking duration 36 hour significantly accelerate the germination rate to 20,45 days, increasing vigor index to 1,57 seed/days, increasing percentage normal seedling to 100,00% decreasing percentage abnormal seedling and seed dies to 0,00%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of legowo row planting system on the growth and production of several varieties of rice fields (Oryza sativa L.). This research was conducted in paddy field of Balai Benih Induk Padi Murni Tanjung Morawa Agriculture Agency of North Sumatra Province from November 2016 until March 2017. This research used Factorial Random Block Design with 2 Factors of Treatment. The first factor is the jajar legowo planting system consisting of 3 levels L0 = Control (10 x 25 cm), L1 = 2: 1 (10 x 25 cm), L2 = 4: 1 (10 x 25 cm) and the second factor is varieties with 4 levels V1 (Mekongga), V2 (Situ bagendit), V3 (Inpari 32), V4 (Inpari 30). The results showed that planting system of legowo 4 :1 had an effect on increasing productivity of paddy rice (Oryza sativa L.).     Keywords : jajar legowo planting system, rice, varieties.

Abstract

Papaya is a dicotil plant that can only be developed with seed required, seed quality supported best production in field. For obtained good quality seed and increased production can be done several alternatives including by providing seed dormancy breaking KNO3 and coconut water. This research was conducted in Seed Technology Laboratory Agriculture Faculty University of Sumatera Utara, Medan from April to Mei 2016. This research used factorial randomized complete design with two factors. The first factor was concentration of KNO3 M0 (0%); M1 (2.5%); M2 (5%); M3 (7.5%) and the second factor is concentration of coconut water N0 (0%); N1 (25%); N2 (50%); N3 (75%); N4 (100%).Variabel observed was germination test (normal seedling, abnormal seedling, seed that have not grown),germination rate, vigor index, seedling fresh weight, and seedling dry weight. The result of this research showed that consentration of KNO3 were significantly increase to, normal seedling, vigor index, seedling fresh weight, seedling dry weight, and significantly decrease the seeds that have not grown. Concentration of coconut water were significantly increase to germination rate,vigor index, and seedling dry weight. Interaction of concentration of KNO3 and concentration of coconut water were not significantly effect to all parameters.

Abstract

This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Technology Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan in March until April 2016 using a completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor is drying (0, 1, 2, 3, 4) and the second factor is the location of the seeds (base, middle and end). The parameters measured were the germination rate, germination test (germination normal, abnormal, and the seeds are not grown), vigor index, seedling fresh weight and seedling dry weight. The results showed that the drying treatment significantly affected all parameters of observation, the drying treatment were affected increases the germination rate, vigor index, germination normal, seedling fresh weight, seedling dry weight and the drying treatment was affected the seeds are not grown. The location of seed treatment had no significant effect on all parameters of observation. The interaction between the treatment of seed drying and the location of seed significantly affected all parameters of observation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Taro tuber is one of the few commodities tubers that can be used as an alternative source of food other besides rice that is both healthy and safety. Cultivating of taro and increase production to do some of them use the alternative media composition suitable cropping and NPK fertilizer. This research was conducted in Jalan Klambir Lima Kecamatan Sunggal, Medan, with altitude ± 25 meters above sea surface began  from April to Juli 2016. This research used factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was growing media composition (top soil (control)); top soil : sand (1:1)); top soil : sand : empty bunches of palm oil compost (1 : 1: 1)); top soil : sand : empty bunches of palm oil compost (2: 1 : 1)); top soil : sand : empty bunches of palm oil compost (3: 1: 1)) and the second factor is doses of NPK fertilizer (0; 2; 4; 6 g/polibag). Parameter observed was plant height, total leaf area, plant fresh weight, shoot dry weight, and  root dry weight. The result of this research showed that growing media composition were significantly effect to plant height parameter 2 week after planting, total leaf area, plant fresh weight, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and ratio of shoot and root. doses of NPK fertilizer composition were significantly effect to total leaf area parameter, plant fresh weight, and shoot dry weight. Interaction of growing media composition and dose of NPK fertilizer were significantly effect to plant height 2-9 week after planting and plant fresh weight. Abstract

This study aims to obtain the silica fertilizer dosage and application time for growth and production sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L) Moench.). This research was conducted at Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sumatera Utara began from March until August 2018, This research used factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was silica fertilizer dosage with four levels are 0 , 0.5, 1, and 1.5 gram/plot and the second factor was application time with four application time are: 10, 20, 30, and 40 Day After Planting. Parameter observed were plant's length, stem diameter, weight of 1000 seeds, weight of seed per sample and weight of seed per plot. Silica fertilizer and application time can improve growth and production of  sorgum variety Super 2. The highest production percentage of sorgum reach 55.27%  compared with control, the production reach 4.30 tons/hectare.
