Abstract

Abstract

Currently research on genetic diversity analysis is needed and is important information to maintain its survival. Osphronemidae family fish are fish that are often found in various regions. Generally, fish from this family are ornamental fish which are characterized by having a variety of colors. This requires supporting data to determine the level of relationship between fish in the Osphronemidae family. Therefore, research was carried out on the genetic diversity of fish in the Osphronemidae family using the RAPD-PCR method. The research was carried out using goldfish (MK), Blue gourami (SP), gourami (GM), dumbo ear betta (DE), crowntail betta (ST), wild betta (WB), and halfmoon betta (HM). The stages carried out are sample preparation, isolation, PCR, data analysis. The results showed that the fourth highest level of kinship was between SP3 (Blue gourami), GM1 (gourami), WB19 (wild betta), DE3 (dumbo ear betta), ST10 (crowntail betta), and HM3 (halfmoon betta), namely 0.18 or 18%. Meanwhile, the sample included in the outgroup is MK1 (goldfish) has no relationship with other samples.

Abstract

Feed additives or feed additives are now starting to become a necessity as additional feed in fish feed that can increase fish growth. This research aims to determine the effect of using clove powder as a feed additive in feed on the growth rate and survival rate of red tilapia fingerlings. The research was carried out at the Aquaculture Laboratory Building 4, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor from June to August 2023. The research method used is an experimental method using a complete randomized design consisting of four treatments and four repeats. The treatment used is the use of clove powder at doses of 0% (control), 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% as feed additives in commercial feed. The observation parameters consist of specific growth rate, survival rate, and water quality. The results showed that the use of clove powder as a feed additive in commercial feed with a dose of 0.5-1.5% tended to increase the growth rate of red tilapia fry with specific growth rate values ranging from 1.17 ± 0.30%/day - 1.27 ± 0.12%/day. The survival rate of red tilapia fry with a dose of clove powder use of 1.5% tended to give the best results (97.50 ± 5.00%). The water quality of red tilapia fry maintenance during the study met the requirements of water quality standards for tilapia farming

Abstract

Mangrove forests, as coastal ecosystems rich in biodiversity, play an important role in ecology and the fisheries sector. Mangroves not only function as coastal protectors and habitats for aquatic organisms but also produce bioactive compounds that have potential as antibacterial, antioxidant, antifungal, and antiviral agents. Research on mangrove plants from the Rhizophoraceae family, such as Bruguiera, Kandelia, Ceriops, and Rhizophora, has shown that compounds like flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and saponins have significant biological activities. Flavonoids act as antimicrobials, while tannins inhibit bacterial growth by precipitating proteins. Alkaloids disrupt bacterial cell walls and have potential in combating cancer cells. Studies also reveal significant antioxidant activity, with some mangrove extracts showing great potential in combating free radicals. Moreover, these compounds offer potential in reducing reliance on synthetic antibiotics for the treatment of cultured fish diseases and provide opportunities for the development of natural-based health products. This review aims to integrate recent findings on the bioactivity of mangrove plants and propose innovative applications of bioactive compounds in fisheries and conservation with a focus on ecosystem sustainability and optimal use of natural resources.

Abstract

The Fish Auction Place (FAP) is a facility that supports fishermen in distributing their catches. Muara Angke FAP is one of the active auction places in Jakarta. Fish is a perishable commodity that requires proper handling to maintain its quality, including hygiene and sanitation facilities, especially to preserve the quality of little tuna (Auxis rochei). This study aims to analyze the sanitation and hygiene conditions at Muara Angke FAP based on Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Decree No. 1 of 2007 (KEP. KP 01/MEN/2007), assess the organoleptic quality of little tuna, and analyze the relationship between sanitation-hygiene and tuna quality. The research was conducted from January to February 2025 using a case study method. Sanitation and hygiene data were obtained using purposive sampling, while little tuna samples for organoleptic and pH tests were taken using simple random sampling. Spearman correlation was used to analyze the relationship between FAP sanitation-hygiene and tuna quality. The results show that most sanitation and hygiene aspects meet the standards, although some deficiencies remain in facilities such as handwashing stations, toilets, environmental cleanliness, and warning signs. The organoleptic test yielded a final score of 7, indicating that frozen little tuna at Muara Angke FAP is still considered fresh. The pH ranged from 5.3 to 5.7, also indicating freshness. Spearman correlation analysis showed a weak positive relationship (r= 0.281) with no significant correlation (p= 0.231) between sanitation-hygiene and the quality of little tuna.
