Abstract

The pandemic due to the COVID-19 virus has had a significant impact on the online learning process. The difficulty of adapting learning methods for learning outcomes at the Faculty of Medicine requires that several methods be carried out offline, taking into account the safety and security of students during the pandemic. Therefore, this activity aims to design a prevention program for offline learning within the General Sudirman University Faculty of Medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. This activity was carried out for 112 students and staff involved in the learning process. Activities were carried out by collecting data and filling out questionnaires, screening for the use of Genose, then followed by evaluation of vaccination using a rapid antibody test. Final detection was carried out using RT-PCR. The results of our activities succeeded in detecting 15 reactive students using genose, 5 reactive using a rapid test, and 1 confirmed positive for a PCR swab, so that confirmed participants could be given health assistance and break the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Abstract

Sirenomelia, also known as mermaid syndrome, is a very rare lethal congenital disorder with multisystem malformations, characterized by fusion of the lower limbs. Here we report a preterm neonate with fusion of the lower limbs. The baby was born by cesarean section to a 27-year-old primigravida mother at 35 weeks and 3 days’ gestation. There was no maternal history of hypertension, heart disease, asthma, or diabetes mellitus. At birth, the infant did not cry, had weak tone, a heart rate (HR) of <60 beats per minute (BPM), an Apgar score of 1/2, and a birth weight of 2,300 grams. The infant had an imperforate anus and no urogenital openings or external genitalia. There was a small penis-like protrusion without an aperture, such as in cases of ambiguous genitalia. The two lower limbs were fused, with five toes on each foot. Despite neonatal resuscitation, the infant died within 75 minutes of birth. The child was diagnosed with sirenomelia. This case report aims to emphasize the importance of early prenatal diagnosis and education of the patient’s family.

Abstract

Pandemic has had implications for all aspects of life in the world, including Indonesia. Under normal conditions, maternal and neonatal mortality is still a big challenge, especially during the current pandemic. Maternal and child health services are one of the services that are affected in terms of access and quality. The existence of restrictions on most routine services, including maternal and child health services, is feared to increase maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality, reduce maternal and child health, and interfere with child development. The team from FK UNSOED wants to take a role in the community to prevent an increase in infant and neonatal mortality in the midst of this pandemic situation. Through this activity, the community (especially pregnant women and mothers of toddlers) is expected to be able to strive for pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and child development so that they remain optimal. Activities are held through the lay webinar method and mentoring of posyandu cadres. The target audience for the public webinar is the general public and partners. The enthusiasm of the participants can be seen from the number of participants, who come from various circles and regions. The Zoom meeting was attended by 235 participants from various regions in Java and outside Java (Bali, Pontianak, etc.). Participants came from various backgrounds: 45.3% midwives, 15.4% housewives, 11.3% lecturers/teachers, 4.5% doctors, 2.4% posyandu cadres, private employees, students, etc. Meetings and direct mentoring activities in Karangnanas village were carried out with limited participants, namely representatives of posyandu cadres and village midwives. More intensive efforts are needed to empower cadres in the midst of this pandemic.

Abstract

Posyandu is a forum for community empowerment to transfer information and skills from health workers to the local community and between fellow communities. Posyandu activities are driven by posyandu cadres, selected citizens who are willing to put in their energy & time, and best understand the conditions of the local community. The existence of cadres is very strategic as the spearhead and the frontline of public health services. Given their important role, posyandu cadres need to have knowledge and skills to support their role. Posyandu cadres must improve themselves and adapt to changes to remain in demand by the community. Cadre capacity needs to be upgraded and service quality needs to be improved. Cadres need to innovate and be creative in organizing posyandu, so they don't get stuck in routines that cause people to get bored of coming to the Posyandu because their activities are only "weighing weight and height". Various problems in Posyandu that often arise include aspects of the quality and skills of cadres and posyandu infrastructure. This activity is carried out by providing knowledge transfer and training. The material provided includes “Posyandu, roles, and duties of cadres”; “KMS and KIA Books”; “Success for Exclusive Breastfeeding”; and “Diarrhea Problems in Children”. The training was carried out by providing case scenarios and then cadres did role-play providing education about related cases. This activity is expected to be a step to improve the knowledge and skills of cadres who support their roles in Posyandu.

Abstract

Induksi dinyatakan berhasil apabila kadar glukosa darah puasa hewan coba ≥ 200 mg/dL.
