Abstract

Prediabetes was a condition where a person has abnormal blood sugar levels but was not yet categorized as diabetes (140-199 mg / dl). The increased incidence of prediabetes affects the increasing number of cases of diabetes, unhealthy diet and irregular exercise models are factors that cause weight problems and blood sugar levels that increase cases of prediabetes to have an impact on diabetes cases. The research purpose was the effect of diet menus and exercise models on reducing blood sugar levels and body weight in the prediabetes group. The method research was the analytical method with the design of quasi-experimental, the population was 20 people, and the sample was total population or sample of 20 people by dividing 2 groups with different interventions, the technique with accidental sampling, and tool with SPSS 20, the data analyzed with independent t test. The result of research was the influence in group jasmine (diet and exercise menu (jogging)) (P value = 0.001 <α = 0.05), and in group rose (diet and exercise menu (casual walk)) (P value = 0.004 <α = 0.05) to reduce blood sugar levels and body weight. The conclusion of research was that the diet control and exercise menu models were able to influence the decrease in blood sugar levels and body weight in the prediabetes group, group a had a more significant effect because of jogging so that more calories burned.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak batang serai (Cymbopogon citratus) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri edwarsiella tarda secara in vitro. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan September sampai Desember 2016, bertempat di Laboratorium Hayati dan Laboratorium Mikrobiologi MIPA Unsyiah. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), dengan 3 perlakuan yaitu: K=kontrol, P1=400 ppm, P2=600 ppm, dan P3=800 ppm. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa kandungan zat aktif yang terdapat dalam batang serai ialah steroid, terpenoid, saponin, flavonoid, tanin dan fenolik. Ekstrak batang serai mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri edwarsiella tarda berdasarkan hasil uji daya hambat. Diameter rata-rata zona hambat yang diperoleh adalah P1= 21 mm, P2= 18 mm, P3= 14 mm, dan K= 0 mm. Kata kunci: Cymbopogon citratus, Edwarsiella tarda, in vitro, Pertumbuhan.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease characterized by high blood glucose levels caused by damage to the pancreas, which cannot produce insulin. Antidiabetic drugs and insulin injections in the long term have specific side effects, so herbal medicine is considered safer to use. Sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca) is one of the herbal medicines that have the potential as an antidiabetic. Methods: Experimental using a completely randomized design. Rats were divided into five groups with three replicates, namely: Kn = normal control, Ka = STZ control, P1 = DM rats + 200 mg/KgBB extract dose, P2 = DM rats + 300 mg/KgBB extract dose, and P3 = DM rats + 400 mg/KgBB extract dose. The stages of this study began with the preparation of tools and materials, phytochemical tests, the preparation of test animals and testing extracts on test animals, and the measurement of blood glucose levels in rats before and after they were given extracts. Blood glucose levels were measured using a glucometer. Data analysis was performed statistically (ANOVA). The results of the phytochemical tests detected were steroids, saponins, and phenols/tannins, while alkaloids, terpenoids, and flavonoids were not. The most effective blood glucose level measurement result is at a dose of 400 mg/KgBB.

Abstract

The problem faced by partners is the need for more knowledge about the technique of raising bileh fish (Rasbora sp.) in aquaculture ponds. The bileh fish from nature does not last long in the fish farmer's pond. This is because the techniques used are not appropriate and inappropriate. The solution offered by the proposing team is assistance in the technique of enlarging bileh fish in cultivation containers. This activity is designed to provide knowledge and skills on bileh fish enlargement techniques. The service activities were carried out in Gampong Lhok seumot, Beutong District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province. The stages of implementation are 1). Preparation and arrangement of the program, 2). Program implementation, 3). Monitoring and evaluation, 4). Reporting and publication. The output of this service activity is the publication of scientific articles in accredited service journals and news in electronic mass media, increasing partner knowledge. The service results were obtained by increasing the knowledge and skills of fish farmers in raising bileh fish and increasing production (survival rate of bileh fish> 75%). Fish farmers continue to be assisted with the sustainability of the service activity program. Bileh fish, as a local fish, has the potential to be developed as a new candidate for aquaculture organisms.

Abstract

Wisata telah menunjukkan perannya dalam mendukung perkembangan ekonomi di suatu kawasan di hampir setiap negara berkembang. Meskipun kegiatan wisata memberikan manfaat terhadap bidang pembangunan ekonomi, namun wisata juga berpotensi menimbulkan dampak serius terhadap kondisi ekologi. Hal ini didasarkan pada kegiatan wisata yang umumnya dikelola secara masif tanpa memperhitungkan secara detail keberlanjutan ekologi. Keberadaan hutan manggrove dikawasan Lhok Bubon yang semakin hari jumlahnya terus berkurang akibat pemanfaatan oleh masyarakat, selain akan mengurangi fungsi mangrove secara interaksi ekologis serta proses rantai makanan diperairan tentunya akan mempengaruhi kemampuan lingkungan dalam mendukung standar daya dukung terhadap wisata pesisir. Sehingga dikhawatirkan menurunkan minat wisatawan dalam berkunjung. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat sebagai pengelola dan wisatawan tentang pentingnya kelestarian hutan mangrove dan infrastruktur pendukung bagi kelestarian konektifitas interaksi kawasan Pantai Lhok Bubon. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilaksanakan di pantai Lhok Bubon, Kecamatan Samatiga, Kecamatan Aceh Barat. Pada tanggal 26 Februari 2022, Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa dan dosen Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan, Universitas Teuku Umar dengan jumlah peserta adalah 40 orang. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang digunakan adalah metode penyuluhan. Materi yang diberikan berupa Teknik dalam merehabilitasi sumberdaya pesisir dan pengembangan infrastruktur yang baik dan benar serta efisien. Adapun strategi yang efektif yang dapat dilakukan untuk menjembatani kepentingan para pihak dalam pengembangan infrastruktur pada ekowisata yaitu dalam bentuk kolaborasi. Kolaborasi yang dibangun perlu memuat pandangan bersama dengan memperhatikan prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan. Pemerintah perlu lebih proaktif untuk memfasilitasi kolaborasi pembangunan infrastruktur para pihak dengan mengutamakan keberpihakan terhadap pengetahuan ekologi.

Abstract

The coconut plant is a plant that has many benefits for human life. Every part of the coconut plant has great benefits for life, such as the trunk, roots, fruit, even the fruit or pistil of the coconut also provides many health benefits. Villagers use coconut pistil as a traditional medicine in the treatment of diarrhea. Traditional medicine can be obtained from plants that contain secondary metabolite compounds. Secondary metabolite compounds are active compounds found in plants to defend themselves from harmful environmental attacks. The purpose of this study is to identify secondary metabolite compounds present in coconut pistils. Identification of secondary metabolite compounds is carried out qualitatively, namely conducting phytochemical tests (phytochemical screening) in the laboratory. Phytochemical Screening is a simple and effective method. The results of this study indicate that coconut pistil (pistillum Cocos Nucifera) positively contains secondary metabolite compounds of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids and phenolics. So that coconut pistil can be used as one of the traditional medicinal ingredients

Abstract

Diabetes Melitus merupakan suatu kelompok penyakit yang menyerang sistem metabolik dengan karakterisasi hiperglikemia yang terjadi karena kelainan sekresi insulin, kerja insulin, atau mempengaruhi keduanya. Penderita penyakit diabetes melitus di Aceh Tahun 2019 sebanyak  138,291  penderita. Kabupaten Aceh Barat termasuk salah satu Kabupaten tertinggi kasus penyakit DM sebanyak 13,803 penderita. Pengobatan diabetes mellitus  yang telah berlangsung meliputi latihan jasmani dan terapi farmakologis. Terapi farmakologi, terdiri dari obat yang diberikan secara oral maupun dalam bentuk suntikan (American Diabetes Association, 2014).  Tujuan Penelitian untuk menguji dan melakukan formulasi ekstrak buah mahkota dewa serta memproduksi sebagai minuman herbal pencegahan penyakit diabetes. Tujuan penelitian untuk menguji dan melakukan formulasi ekstrak buah mahkota dewa serta memproduksi sebagai minuman herbal pencegahan penyakit diabetes mellitus serta menganalis perubahan terhadap kadar glukosa dalam darah penderita diabetes melitus di Kabupaten Aceh Barat. Berdasarkan hasil survey penderita penyakit diabetes mellitus di Kecamatan Meuruebo Kabupaten Aceh Barat menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat mengonsumsi jenis makanan yang mengandung banyak gula setiap hari hampir (100 %). Bagi penderita diabetes mellitus disarankan untuk melakukan pemeriksaan rutin kadar glukosa darah dan berkonsultasi dengan ahli gizi untuk mengetahui perkembangan penyakit dan mencegah komplikasi lanjut

Abstract

Student nutritional status is a crucial indicator of health and development, particularly regarding adequate nutrition. One effective intervention to enhance nutritional status is providing high-protein snacks. Indonesia's Genius Program aims to improve child nutrition through targeted interventions in select schools nationwide, including 17 schools in Aceh. Quantitative study analyzed the impact of high-protein snacks on student nutritional status in West Aceh elementary schools using secondary data from the 2023 Genius Program. Employing a quantitative design and Wilcoxon statistical analysis, 339 students were categorized into three nutritional status groups based on BMI-for-age z-scores: undernutrition, good nutrition, and overnutrition. Results showed that 14-day high-protein snack provision significantly improved student nutritional status, increasing good nutrition proportions and reducing undernutrition cases. The Genius Program in West Aceh elementary schools (2023) effectively enhanced student nutritional status by reducing undernutrition and increasing good nutrition proportions. Recommendations include extending program duration and expanding sample sizes for future research generalization.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that causes death. Diabetes is associated with increased total cholesterol levels. Insulin resistance causes glucose levels to increase in the blood and inhibits the circulation of food juice. The body will break down fat as an energy source due to glucose that cannot reach the body's cells, this causes an increase in cholesterol levels in the blood. Several studies have shown a correlation between increased blood glucose levels and increased cholesterol levels. Control of blood glucose levels in diabetics should be done so as not to cause an increase in blood cholesterol. Herbs are chosen as an alternative for antidiabetics. Bhee fruit (Melastoma Sp) has the potential to an antidiabetic because of its phytochemical content. In West Aceh, there has not been much research on diabetes herbal medicine and the use of Bhee Fruit as an herbal medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of Bhee fruit on total cholesterol levels of alloxan-induced diabetic mice. Method: Laboratory experimental research with Complete Randomized Design (RAL) using 21 mice divided into 7 treatments namely KN, KP, KO, KD, P1, P2, and P3. Measurement of cholesterol levels using easy touch tools and Cholesterol strips. The dose of ethanol extract of Bhee fruit used is 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg body weight and given for 14 days. Data analysis was performed using One-way ANOVA and followed by the Duncan Analysis test. Results: Giving ethanol extract of Bhee fruit at doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg / dL was able to reduce total cholesterol levels in diabetic mice. Conclusion: Giving Bhee fruit extract affects reducing total cholesterol levels, with a dose of 400 mg/kg body weight which is most effective in reducing total cholesterol levels in diabetic mice. Suggestion: it is necessary to do further tests using different types of solvents and different doses.
