Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of Quality of Work Life (QWL) and Transformational Leadership on Teacher Performance, with Work Discipline as a mediating variable, in Public Elementary Schools in Pamulang District. Methods: The research employs an explanatory quantitative approach with a survey method. A sample of 144 teachers from 12 accredited A elementary schools was selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using Path Analysis to test the causal relationships between variables. Results: (1) QWL, Work Discipline, and Transformational Leadership have a positive and significant direct effect on Teacher Performance; (2) Work Discipline has the dominant direct influence (0.766); (3) QWL and Transformational Leadership significantly strengthen Work Discipline; (4) Work Discipline acts as an effective partial mediator, where the indirect effects of QWL (0.280) and Transformational Leadership (0.503) on performance through this mediator are greater than their direct effects. Novelty: The biggest impact of Transformational Leadership and QWL on Teacher Performance is transmitted through Work Discipline.

Abstract

Teacher performance is a key factor in determining the quality of primary education, as teachers play a direct role in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effects of Quality of Work Life, creativity, and interpersonal communication on the performance of public elementary school teachers in Dramaga District, Bogor Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach with an associative design. The research population consisted of all public elementary school teachers in Dramaga District, with a total of 146 respondents selected using a census technique. Data were collected through closed-ended questionnaires using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that Quality of Work Life had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.016, creativity had a positive and significant effect with a significance value of 0.002, and interpersonal communication had a positive and significant effect with a significance value of 0.039. Simultaneous testing indicated that Quality of Work Life, creativity, and interpersonal communication collectively had a significant effect on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.001. These findings indicate that improving the quality of work life, creativity, and interpersonal communication in an integrated manner plays an important role in enhancing teacher performance in elementary schools

Abstract

Lecturer performance is a critical determinant of higher education quality, yet evidence on how professional commitment and job satisfaction jointly shape lecturer performance in private higher education remains limited, particularly in the Indonesian context. This study examines the extent to which professional commitment and job satisfaction predict lecturer performance and identifies which factor exerts the stronger influence. A quantitative survey design was employed involving 335 lecturers at an Indonesian private university, selected through proportionate stratified random sampling from a population of 2,742 lecturers. Data were collected using four-point Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression after testing the relevant statistical assumptions. The findings demonstrate that both professional commitment and job satisfaction positively and significantly predict lecturer performance. Professional commitment showed a stronger standardized effect (β = 0.558, p < 0.001) than job satisfaction (β = 0.473, p < 0.001), indicating that professional commitment represents the more influential predictor of lecturer performance in the study context. The regression model explained 96.6% of the variance in lecturer performance (R² = 0.966), although this unusually high explanatory power warrants cautious interpretation given the self-reported measures and potential construct overlap. These findings extend understanding of lecturer performance by demonstrating the complementary roles of professional attachment and workplace satisfaction in private higher education. In practice, universities should combine professional development and career-support mechanisms with fair rewards, supportive supervision, and conducive working environments to sustainably strengthen lecturer performance.
