Abstract

One method that is able to meet the needs of BBLR babies by providing situations and conditions similar to the mother's womb is KMC Treatment, which is a treatment method by making direct contact between the baby's skin and the mother's skin (skin to skin contact) and placing the baby on the mother's chest. KMC treatment has benefits for the increase in temperature of BBLR babies. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of KMC treatment on the temperature of BBLR babies in the Neonatology Room of Pambalah Batung Amuntai Hospital. Quantitative research method with quasi-experimental method research design with one group pretest posttest approach. Samples were taken by purposive sampling method and had inclusion and exclusion criteria so that 15 BBLR baby samples were obtained. Data collection using observation sheets. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results showed that the baby's body temperature before KMC treatment averaged 36,160 and the baby's body temperature after KMC treatment averaged 37,073. Based on the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test analysis test, there is a significant effect of increase between temperature before and after KMC treatment with p-value (0.001 < 0.05).

Abstract

Background: Immunization plays a vital role in preventing infectious diseases, significantly reducing morbidity and mortality worldwide. Indonesia's national immunization program has been in place since 1956, focusing on vulnerable groups such as infants and pregnant women. However, despite these efforts, immunization rates in Paku Alam Village, South Kalimantan, remain suboptimal, with 90% of the target population yet to complete basic immunization in 2023. Factors contributing to this gap include misinformation, vaccine hesitancy, and low health literacy among the population. Case presentation: In Paku Alam Village, only 27 out of the 30 targeted children for the 2023 immunization program received partial immunizations, with none completing the full schedule by mid-year. Misinformation spread via social media, coupled with fears about vaccine side effects, has fueled parental reluctance to immunize. Midwives and healthcare workers have struggled to combat these challenges due to a lack of effective communication tools and deep-rooted distrust in the healthcare system. Discussion: Addressing the immunization gap in Paku Alam Village requires a multifaceted approach, including educational interventions tailored to parents. These interventions should include visual aids, interactive discussions, and community-based outreach to improve vaccine knowledge and trust. Additional strategies like offering incentives, collaborating with early childhood education centers, and strengthening healthcare worker training are also critical. Building trust through culturally appropriate messaging from trusted community leaders is essential to overcoming vaccine hesitancy. Conclusion: The immunization program in Paku Alam Village faces challenges rooted in low parental knowledge and the spread of misinformation. However, targeted health education, collaboration between healthcare workers, schools, and community leaders, and incentivization strategies can improve immunization coverage. A comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach is required to meet the village's immunization goals.

Abstract

Kata Kunci : Ibu Nifas, Prenatal Yoga, Tingkat Kesehatan Mental ABSTRACT Background: Psychological discomfort in postpartum mothers or called postpartum depression if not treated can have an impact on chronic conditions. Psychological discomfort can be prevented or treated in a non-pharmacological way, one of which is yoga body and mind therapy that combines physical postures (Asana), breathing techniques (Pranayama), and meditation or relaxation.Purpose:  To analyze the impact of prenatal yoga participation on postpartum maternal mental health. Methods:  A quantitative descriptive study was conducted to assess maternal mental health using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and to compare the results with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D).Results: "The mean CES-D score at week 2 for the control group (no prenatal yoga) across all birthing locations was 21.00, indicating a relatively high level of depressive symptoms in the early postpartum period. In contrast, the mean CES-D score at week 2 for the prenatal yoga group was 13.83, suggesting mild to moderate depressive symptoms in the early postpartum period. By week 6, the mean CES-D score for the prenatal yoga group decreased significantly to 8.83, indicating a substantial reduction in depressive symptoms over time. The mean EPDS score at week 6 was 4.00, well below the cut-off score of 10 for postpartum depression risk. This suggests that the majority of mothers who participated in prenatal yoga were not at significant risk for postpartum depression. The mean HADS-A (anxiety) score was 4.17, indicating low levels of anxiety in mothers who participated in prenatal yoga. Similarly, the mean HADS-D (depression) score was 3.50, which falls within the normal range and does not indicate significant clinical depression. Conclusion: Based on CES-D, EPDS, and HADS scores, mothers who did not participate in prenatal yoga tended to have higher levels of depression and anxiety during the postpartum period. Mothers who participated in prenatal yoga demonstrated a significant decrease in depression scores from week 2 to week 6, particularly as measured by the CES-D. This suggests that prenatal yoga may be effective in reducing depressive symptoms in postpartum mothers. Overall, prenatal yoga was associated with lower levels of depression and anxiety across all birthing locations.Suggestions; A qualitative study is needed to explore the experiences of postpartum women who have participated in prenatal yoga. Keywords:    Mental Health Level, Postpartum Mothers, Prenatal Yoga

Abstract

Background: Sectio caesarean (SC) is increasingly common, with significant challenges for breastfeeding due to factors like postoperative pain and mobility limitations. Proper breast care can support milk production, yet many mothers lack adequate knowledge about its importance and techniques. Understanding the relationship between breast care knowledge and breastfeeding outcomes in post-SC mothers is critical to improving maternal and child health. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between breast care knowledge and smooth breast milk production among post-SC mothers. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 30 post-SC mothers at Ibunda Mother and Child Hospitals, Tanah Laut, from September to November 2023. Participants were selected through accidental sampling. Data on breast care knowledge and milk production were collected using validated instruments and analyzed using chi-square tests. Results: Most respondents had sufficient breast care knowledge (73%), and 90% reported smooth breast milk production. However, no significant association was found between breast care knowledge and milk production (p = 0.78). This indicates that while knowledge is vital, other factors such as psychological and physiological conditions also play a role. Conclusion: Although most participants demonstrated good knowledge and milk production, this study highlights that breastfeeding success is multifactorial, requiring holistic approaches that address physical, psychological, and social dimensions. Integrating education with practical support could enhance breastfeeding outcomes.
