Abstract

The farmer groups in Kualu Nenas village has acquire many assists from local government and other sectors as a part of comunity development program. The assist include production machines, like vacuum frying, press seal machine, cutting machine, etc, also workshop about the machinary and the production proccess. But now, many of those aids become useless and infertile, because of the incapable of the farmers to maintenance those machines. The empowerment become an important issue since the machine’s price moderatly expensive. The focus of this research is to conduct and evaluate the machine vacuum frying workshop of the introduction and it maintenance for the farmer’s groups of Kualu Nenas. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method which is a basic research that provide the community empowerment, do some strategies/ steps: (i)Information explore and community approach, (ii)The Workshop accomplishment, and (iii)Program’s evaluation. The result is seen good enough but after analyzing, the workshop of the machine maintenance not too efective to answer the needs of the farmer in handling the machine’s damage or troubeshooting. One of the reason is because it just did once and some still doubt to do it if there is no companion. The summary of the evaluation is that the workshop will not be effective if not following by the continuing companion until they really become empower and capable in looking for solution to face the production machine problem.

Abstract

Abstract—The industrial world in Indonesia is experiencing rapid development. The development of this industry cannot be separated from the formal and informal sectors. One of the informal industry developments is the welding field. Welding is a technique of connecting two or more metals by utilizing heat energy. The activities of the welding workers are carried out with the position of the body bending and squatting for hours until the process of completing a product is completed. This can result in workers experiencing muscle exhaustion in some parts of their body. These complaints occur in the neck, back, knees and legs. One of the effects of risk on occupational health and safety faced by welding workshop workers is a complaint of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The study aimed to determine the level of ergonomic risk based on the Loading on the Upper Body Assessment (LUBA) method and Designing an Ergonomic Fixture tool. The LUBA method (Loading on the Upper Limb Assessment) is a method of coding the posture of sitting or standing by giving additional weight to the posture that matches the experimental results of the conditions of discomfort felt by the joints of individuals, Loading on the Upper Limb Assessment is a technique for postural loading on the assessment of the body.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyse the work body postures, to determine the work risk level before and after the improvement using the Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment (WERA) and to improve the workstation by designing ergonomic production tools. An empirical study was carried out at a small industry producing Sumedang Tofu at Rimbo Panjang, Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The workers must bend their body to move 77 kg soybeans with an 11 kg single-lifting capacity. The level of work risk was determined using the Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment (WERA) method based on nine categories, i.e., shoulders, wrists, back, legs, neck, strength, vibration, contact pressure, and work duration. The soaking and milling stations scored 35 and 31 using the WERA method. The two scores indicated an average performance level that requires improvement. Anthropometric data were used to develop tools for improving workers' body posture. The new tool used for soaking and milling has footrests, so workers did not have to reach too far above their chests to move the soybeans to the milling. The soaking station and the milling station both achieved a score of 24, which is considered as a low level, indicating that neither station requires improvement. Time reduction after the body posture improvement was 3.33 seconds for the milling station and 2.08 seconds for the soaking station. Keywords: anthropometri, kedelai, perbaikan postur, workplace ergonomic risk assessment

Abstract

The appointment of catering dishes at Dian Rasa Catering is currently still done manually by hand. Slouching work posture when lifting plates increases the risk of muscle and spinal injuries in workers. One way that can be done is to design ergonomic plate lifters. The design of an ergonomic trolley uses the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) method. The attributes used are based on ergonomic aspects, which are effective, comfortable, safe, healthy, and efficient. Based on the attributes used, it can be seen the desires and needs of consumers for products which are then integrated with the technical characteristics of the tool. Obtained the results of the design of a catering plate lifter in the form of 3 plate racks with a radius of 21 cm that can accommodate 20 plates and trolleys with a height of 125 cm and the size of the trolley handle that can be adjusted according to the smallest body size (118 cm), on average (125 cm) ) and maximum (132 cm). The results of the experimental an ergonomic trolley help the employee to lift the plate, improve time efficiency and reduce the risk of muscle and bone injury to the catering employee. After the use of plate lifting tools catering harvest workers labor posture scores using the OWAS method dropped to 1.
