Abstract

The community of Lelede Village, Kediri District, West Lombok Regency, mostly cultivate goats and cattle. However, the cultivation of both types of livestock is still done traditionally using grass and agricultural waste as feed. From that case, the addition of microorganisms which has the ability to digest fiber is very important in order to optimize the digestion process of the feed. Probiotics are certain microorganisms that can help digestion and can minimize the presence of disease. In this activity the production and the use of probiotics has been diffused to improve the livestock production performance in Lelede Village, Kediri District, West Lombok Regency. The activity began with socialization of probiotics, training of probiotics production, and its used for ruminants. The training material consisted of the process of making probiotics started from measuring the dosage of ingredients, making inoculum, until the production of probiotics in fermentors. For the training, 35 farmers have been involved. The probiotics produced are then distributed to farmers for later given to livestock either through feed or drink water.

Abstract

Chicken manure waste is one of the main problems for large-scale broiler cultivation, especially in areas close to residential areas. The accumulation of manure that accumulates under the cage attracts the arrival and development of the flies in the cultivation site. The development of these flies will spread to the houses of residents who live around the cage. As a result, many farmers stop cultivating the broilers because of public complaints. To overcome this problem, the use of probiotics from acetic acid-producing bacteria can be used to reduce the development of flies because of the ability of the bacteria to reduce the pH of the media and create an uncomfortable environment for egg growth. Likewise, the development of maggot can be a competing medium that beats the flay. In community service activities regarding "The use of probiotics and maggot production to reduce flies in the Muara Selayar broiler farm, Pijot Village, Keruak District, East Lombok Regency". Through this activity, the development of flies can be emphasized by the use of probiotics and the development of magot which can be used as chicken feed.

Abstract

Broiler cultivation is one of the largest MSMEs in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB). The group of breeders carries out maintenance on a scale between 3,500 heads and 7,500 heads per cage. The Muara Selayar farmer group is one of the broiler farmer groups located in Pijot Village, Keruak District, East Lombok Regency. The main problem faced by the Muara Selayar Farmer Group at this time is that production performance is not optimal, which is characterized by sluggish chicken growth, many dwarf chickens, poor feed conversion, high mortality rate, which results in low profits obtained and even losses. The considerable number of dwarf chickens although it varies every period incurs losses due to poor ration conversion with low selling prices. The solution offered to bridge the problem of low broiler production performance in the Muara Selayar Broiler Farm Group is the use of symbiotic as a feed mixture for broilers of the starter period. Symbiotic are a mixture of prebiotics (feed ingredients that are difficult to digest in the digestive tract but benefit the host through selective stimulation of growth or activity of one or more microbes in the gut) and probiotics (live microbes that have benefits for the host). The results of this activity show that the use of symbiotic has succeeded in increasing the body's resistance and growth of slaughter chickens and laying hens.
