Abstract

This research is subjected to analyze: 1) the interaction between the cooperative learning and level of learning motivation on the development of students achievement in learning mathematics; 2) the difference between the development of students achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning and STAD cooperative learning. The method used in the research is experiment with a balanced design and use factorial planning 2X2. The study population was all of students in grade XI IPS, amounting to 4 classes.The result shows that: 1) there is an interaction between the cooperative learning and students learning motivation towards the development of students achievement; 2) the average of the development of the students achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning is higher than that though STAD cooperative learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: 1) ada tidaknya interaksi antara pem-belajaran dan tingkat motivasi belajar dalam peningkatan prestasi belajar matematika siswa; 2) perbedaan peningkatan prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dan STAD. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan desain berimbang dan menggunakan rancangan faktorial 2x2. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPS MA Maarif Katibung tahun 2011 yang berjumlah 4 kelas. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Analisis Varians dua jalur dan uji t.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 1) terdapat interaksi penggunaan pembelajaran dan motivasi belajar terhadap prestasi belajar; 2) rerata peningkatan prestasi belajar yang menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS lebih tinggi dari pebelajaran kooperatif tipe STADKata kunci: motivasi belajar, pembelajaran kooperatif dan peningkatan prestasi belajar

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is a 21st-century learning skill that students must possess. Students with low critical thinking skills will encounter difficulties in problem-solving. The critical thinking skills of students are still lacking due to the use of inadequate teaching materials that do not meet the students' needs. This research aims to analyze the need for student worksheets (LKPD) oriented towards the Discovery Learning model to enhance students' critical thinking skills. This research is of a qualitative analysis type. The study was conducted at MIN 2 West Lampung. The subjects of this research were 1 teacher and 25 students in Grade VA. Data collection was conducted through observation and interviews. The activities carried out during the observation phase involved observing teaching and learning activities, analyzing lesson plans (RPP), and analyzing the learning resources used in the classroom. During the interview phase, the research results indicate that both teachers and students require student worksheets (LKPD) oriented towards discovery learning that can enhance critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Problem solving is one of the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Educational demands in the 21st century all learning is directed at learning high-level thinking and being able to solve problems, bearing in mind that Indonesia's 2018 PISA results are still below average and starting in 2021 the National Examination will be abolished and replaced with AKM whose questions are of the HOTS type. As well as the results of the 2021 National Assessment at the Cendikia Tulang Bawang Integrated Islamic Middle School showing the results of students' mathematical literacy reaching a minimum competency with a distribution of student abilities of 4.65% proficient, 51.16% proficient, 41.86% fundamental and 2.3% needing intervention . The purpose of this study was to determine the mathematical problem solving skills of junior high school students on the Pythagorean theorem material based on higher order thinking skills (HOTS) questions in terms of conceptual understanding. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with high, medium, and low concept understanding student categories. The results of this study on average have been able to understand the existing problems, but in the implementation stage of problem solving only medium and high students were able to solve them correctly.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical representation abilities of Grade XI students focusing on the topic of compound interest. Mathematical representation is one of the essential competencies in mathematics education, encompassing visual, verbal, and symbolic forms. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through essay-based tests and in-depth student interviews. The study population consisted of Grade XI students from SMA YP Unila Bandar Lampung. The findings revealed that most students were unable to accurately represent the concept of compound interest. Common errors included inaccuracies in modeling compound interest growth and a tendency to apply arithmetic approaches instead of exponential ones. These findings indicate that students’ mathematical representation abilities—particularly in symbolic and verbal forms remain low. Therefore, strengthening instructional strategies that support the structured and meaningful development of mathematical representation skills is necessary.
