Abstract

This study was aimed to describe the effectiveness of peer tutoring method with Realistic Mathematics Education approach applied in inclusive classes to improve slow learners mathematics attitudes. Type of this research was quasi experiment with one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample was chosen by using convenience sampling from slow learners of VII Grade Junior High School which consisted of 31 students scattered into 3 inclusive classes. The instrument used in this study was a non-test instrument in form of questionnaires. The effectiveness criteria in this study was based on 1) the average score of final questionnaire was higher than the initial questionnaire score, 2) the final questionnaire score shows that more than 75% of the whole students gained the minimum “good” criteria. The result shows that applying peer tutoring learning method with Realistic Mathematics Education approach in inclusive classes was effective to improve slow learners mathematics attitudes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan self esteem siswa kelas X IPS 2 SMA N 1 Bantul terhadap matematika melalui pembelajaran kontekstual dengan pendekatan saintifik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas model Kemmis & Mc. Taggart dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas X IPS 2 SMA N 1 Bantul. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi, angket, dan tes tertulis. Penelitian tindakan ini telah mencapai kriteria keberhasilan setelah dilakukan dua kali siklus, sehingga siklus diberhentikan sampai pada siklus kedua. Self esteem siswa kelas X IPS 2 SMA N 1 Bantul terhadap matematika mengalami peningkatan melalui penerapan pembelajaran kontekstual dengan pendekatan saintifik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan persentase self esteem terhadap matematika dengan kategori rendah dari pra tindakan sebesar 12,50 % sedangkan siklus 1 dan siklus 2 sebesar 0%. Selanjutnya, terjadi penurunan persentase self esteem dengan kategori sedang dari pra tindakan sebesar 71,88% menjadi 66% pada siklus 1 dan di siklus 2 sebesar 56,25%. Terdapat pula peningkatan persentase self esteem dari kategori tinggi yang pada pra tindakan sebesar 15,63%, siklus 1 sebesar 34%, dan di siklus 2 sebesar 43,75%. Rata-rata self esteem terhadap matematika siswa secara klasikal juga mengalami peningkatan dari pra tindakan sebesar 98,81 dengan kategori sedang, siklus 1 sebesar 104,53 dengan kategori sedang, dan siklus 2 sebesar 105,65 dengan kategori tinggi.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that has many benefits to solve problems in daily life, but many students still confused using mathematical concepts in daily life. This study aims to identify student perspective of mathematics role in daily life, the cause of the student's perspective, and the strategy to overcome the perspective. The study is phenomenological research. The data were collected using interview and questionare The data analysis was done using Bogdan & Biklen approach. The results of the study show that students argue only basic mathematics is used in daily life. The cause of these students' perspective is that students do not feel the mathematical concepts learned at school can be used to solve the problems in daily life and the students are too focused to solve the problem without integrating mathematics in daily life. The strategy used to improve students' perspective are giving students more examples of the use of mathematics in STEM, using contextual based learning models, and providing projects assignment to students related to mathematical applications.

Abstract

The learning media was selected by elementary school teachers in online learning was one that students access easily. Some elementary school teachers used WhatsApp in online learning. But it turns out there were some students who were having trouble accessing WhatssApp. The purpose of this study was to describe the learning media was chosen by teacher in online learning mathematics activities of 2nd grade students MI Tahfidz El Muna Q. The design of this study was a qualitative. The study population was a mathematics teacher of 2nd grade at MI Tahfidz El Muna Q. The data collection technique was carried out through observation and interviews. The result showed that the learning media was chosen by the teacher were using the application WhatsApp, with the features video, voice note, and video call.

Abstract

This research aims to explain students’ difficulties in learning mathematics, the factors that cause learning difficulties, and student anxiety in facing school final exams during a pandemic and explain the design of a good mathematics learning system that should be carried out during a pandemic according to the results of this research. This research is descriptive qualitative research that was conducted in one of the junior high schools in the Tangerang district in 2021 with the research sample being 9th-grade students. For getting the data, this research used questionnaires, interviews, and documentation techniques. The result of this study found some of the main problems that happened to students in facing school final exams include students' unpreparedness for online learning, lack of interest in learning in students, lack of understanding of the material, feeling lazy to take part in online learning, difficulties in learning mathematics and the anxiety of students themselves in facing the final school exam. Making a good and comfortable learning system by paying more attention to the mental readiness of students and making teaching materials in the form of audio-visual or video can be one of the right solutions. In addition, face-to-face learning can provide motivation to students to increase their confidence. Thus, their anxiety in facing the final school exam can be overcome.

Abstract

Abstract. Students should receive educational services according to their talents, interests, and abilities. Therefore, a learning system should accommodate fast, normal, and slow learners. This study aims to identify the perspective of teachers and second graders on the application of the Credit System in Yogyakarta secondary schools, the constraints, as well as strategies in implementing the Credit System. The study is phenomenological research. The data was collected using interviews and focus group discussion results. The participants were students and teachers who carried out the Credit System for learning mathematics. The data analysis was done using the Bogdan & Biklen approach. The results of the study show that teachers and students still find difficulty carrying out credit systems. The causes of these students' perspectives are that students are not used to learning independently and teachers are still confused about doing Credit Systems learning to serve all types of students. The strategy of this challenge is to add hours to types of fast learner and teachers make modules that are easy to understand for all types of learner.Keywords: credit system, mathematics, teacher and student perspective.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi android yang valid untuk memfasilitasi pemahaman konsep siswa dengan pendekatan kontekstual. Media pembelajaran ini memuat materi kesebangunan dan kekongruenan yang ditujukan untuk siswa SMP/MTs kelas IX. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan R&D (Research and Development) dengan menggunakan model PPE. Tahap PPE meliputi planning (perencanaan), production (produksi), dan evaluation (evaluasi). Produk yang dihasilkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu aplikasi android yang diberi nama SEBANGKU (Senang Belajar Kesebangunan dan Kekongruenan). Aplikasi SEBANGKU divalidasi oleh para ahli dan kemudian direvisi oleh peneliti. Penilaian validitas dilakukan oleh tiga ahli materi dan ahli media. Penilaian oleh ahli materi dan media menyimpulkan bahwa aplikasi android SEBANGKU valid. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi android SEBANGKU layak disebut sebagai aplikasi android untuk memfasilitasi pemahaman konsep siswa.

Abstract

Melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas merupakan satu hal yang penting dilaksanakan oleh guru sebagai upaya mencari solusi masalah pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Hasil penelitian yang dipublikasikan tentu dapat memberikan manfaat yang lebih luas dan dapat menjadi solusi bagi guru lainnya. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru matematika MTs Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam penulisan dan publikasi artikel ilmiah dalam jurnal ilmiah. Subjek dalam pengadian kepada masyarakat ini adalah 10 guru matematika MTs Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Materi kegiatan yang diberikan dalam pelatihan ini yaitu: 1) Penjelasan struktur artikel ilmiah, 2) Contoh artikel ilmiah penelitian tindakan kelas, 3) Workshop penulisan artikel, 4) pelatihan manajemen referensi menggunakan Mendeley, 5) Pelatihan pemilihan jurnal ilmiah dan proses publikasi artikel di jurnal ilmiah. Luaran dari program pelatihan ini adalah artikel ilmiah yang ditulis oleh guru matematuka dan siap untuk dipublikasikan dalam jurnal ilmiah. Metode kegiatan yang dilaksanakan dalam pelatihan adalah ceramah, diskusi, dan workshop. Pelaksanaan pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah ini dapat disimpulkan berhasil, ditunjukkan dengan respon positif dari peserta dan dihasilkannya 6 naskah artikel yang sudah siap dipublikasikan dalam jurnal ilmiah.

Abstract

Pembelajaran daring sebagai upaya mencegah penularan virus Covid-19 mendapat banyak keluhan baik dari siswa maupun orang tua. Beberapa orang tua sebagai pihak pertama yang berhadapan dengan siswa merasa jika dengan adanya pembelajaran daring anak merasa tidak sedang belajar, karena di rumah anak lebih tertarik untuk bermain. Sementara itu, orang tua mengalami kesulitan dalam membersamai anaknya selama pembelajaran jarak jauh. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan dapat menyampaikan secara rinci kesulitan yang dialami orang tua dalam membersamai siswa melaksanakan pembelajaran daring agar dapat memberikan solusi bagi perbaikan untuk kegiatan pembelajaran kedepannya. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah orang tua yang bekerja dengan siswa yang bersekolah di sekolah menengah pertama (SMP). Dalam penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitiatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Dari data yang diperoleh, didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa terdapat problematika orang tua dalam membersamai siswa belajar secara daring, seperti kurangnya pembagian waktu keluarga dan waktu kerja, kurangnya hubungan emosi orang tua dan anak, dan orang tua yang kurang memahami materi pada tingkatan anaknya.
