Pearl catfish has the main advantage of fast growth. To maximize this growth, one of the things that must be considered is the feed given. The use of factory feed for catfish seeds is common, so it is necessary to use feed raw materials that are around to be used as raw materials for homemade feed. Vegetable waste such as cabbage and tofu dregs can be used as fish feed which is processed into pellets. Cabbage vegetable waste, tofu dregs, bamboo shoots and bran have protein and carbohydrates that can be used for fish growth. This study consisted of 2 stages, namely stage 1 analyzing the comparison between factory feed and homemade feed and stage 2 analyzing the difference in dosage of homemade feed on the growth and efficiency of pearl catfish (C. gariepinus) seed feed. Data were analyzed using 2 independent samples (unpaired) t-test and ANOVA test. The results showed that the provision of factory feed and homemade feed did not have a significant effect on the growth of length, weight, and feed efficiency of catfish fry. Catfish seeds can be fed homemade feed with ingredients from fermented cabbage waste, tofu dregs flour, rebon flour, bran flour, plus vitamins and minerals. The results of the analysis of variance in the treatment of different feed doses (4%, 5%, 6%, 7%, and 10% per fish body weight), had a significant effect on the growth of catfish length and weight, and had no significant effect on feed efficiency. The higher the dose given for the maintenance period of 30 days of catfish fry gave a good effect with the best dose of 10% per fish body weight.

Abstract

The production of aquaculture in East Kalimantan Province in 2023 was recorded at 162,124 tons. This data indicates that the need for fish feed (pellets) is also very large. Meanwhile, it is known that the price of feed continues to climb. This study aims to observe the effect of the use of palm kernel meal, as an alternative feed ingredient, which is fermented using EM4 with different doses on the activity of digestive enzymes and the growth of gourami fish weight. The doses of EM4 used were 0 mL/kg (P1), 4 mL/kg (P2), and 8 mL/kg (P3). Based on the results of the analysis of variance, it was known that the inclusion of fermented palm kernel meal significantly (P<0.05) affected activities of amylase, protease, and lipase enzymes. The highest value of digestive enzyme activity was observed in P2 which produced amylase enzyme activity of 6.31 U/mL, protease 0.46 U/mL, and lipase 0.38 U/mL, and then followed by P3 which produced amylase enzyme activity of 4.76 U/mL, protease 0.39 U/mL, and lipase 0.35 U/mL. The lowest value of activity was observed in gourami treated with P1 which produced amylase enzyme activity of 4.048 U/mL, protease 0.36 U/mL, and lipase 0.31 U/mL. Analysis of variance also showed that fermented palm kernel meal had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the weight growth of giant gourami. The highest weight gain was produced by P3 (2.16 g), then followed by P2 (1.79 g), and P1 (1.21 g). The best feed conversion was produced by P2 (2.32), followed by P3 (2.94), and P1 (3.28).

Abstract

The current concept of aquaculture technology development prioritizes zero waste discharge fish/shrimp production systems through an in situ biofiltration process to maintain water quality and recycle aquaculture waste into a highly nutritious supplementary feed source. This study aims to 1) Analyze the abundance, diversity, and dominance of plakton in tilapia rearing tanks of biofloc system with the addition of molasses and sugarcane juice as carbohydrate sources, 2) Analyzing the growth rate of tilapia specifications, weight growth, and length of tilapia (O.niloticus) in biofloc systems treated with the addition of molasses and sugarcane juice as a carbohydrate source. This study used the t-student test with a confidence level of 95%, with 2 treatments namely; P1 giving molasses; P2 giving sugarcane juice. The results showed that the addition of different carbohydrate sources in tilapia enlargement resulted in the highest tilapia weight growth in the P1 treatment with the addition of molasses has an average value of 32.97 g. P2 treatment with the addition of sugar cane juice has an average value of 24.55 g. In length growth has the highest average value in the P1 treatment given the addition of molasses which is 2.37 cm while for P2 with sugar cane juice treatment has a value of 2.27cm. The specific growth rate of tilapia was highest in the P2 treatment with an average value of 1.79% / day, while the P1 treatment had an average value of 1.51% / day. From the results of statistical analysis on weight growth and specific growth of tilapia significantly different but not significantly different from the growth of tilapia length. Plankton abundance in this study showed differences in each treatment, the results of observations from research for 30 days found data that the treatment of molasses has a plankton abundance value of 3780 individual plankton / l while for the treatment of sugar cane juice has a value of 2772 individual plankton / l. The conclusion of this study is the abundance of plankton in the fish tank. The conclusion of this study is that the abundance of plankton in the molasses pond treatment shows more diverse results and a higher abundance index compared to the sugar cane juice treatment, so the molasses-treated pond shows more fertile waters than the sugar cane juice treatment. Then for the growth of length and weight of tilapia given additional molasses showed better results than sugar cane juice, due to the addition of molasses can accelerate the growth of tilapia

Abstract

The addition of inulin to fish diets has the potential to enhance health, growth performance and feed utilization. This study aims to evaluate the role of inulin on the health status, digestive activity, and production levels of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) in farming. This study employed a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications, consisting of diets with 0, 2, 4, and 6 g/kg of inulin diet. The study involved 120 fish, with each group containing 10 fish weighing 8.46 ± 0.42 g was reared in each 30 L aquarium for 30 days. Fish were fed according to the treatment, at satiation twice daily. Hematology parameters showed normal ranges and intestinal histology revealed an increase in intestinal villi size with the addition of inulin. The treatment with inulin at 4 g/kg diet showed highest number of lactic acid bacteria in the fish intestines (P<0.05). The activity of digestive enzymes, including α-amylase, lipase, and protease, increased the inulin dose increased (P<0.05). The best final weight, weight gain and feed conversion ratio were observed in the 4 g/kg inulin treatment (P<0.05). Meanwhile, the specific growth rate in the 2, 4 and 6 g inulin groups was not significantly different from the 0 g group (P>0.05). The survival rate was similar across all treatments (P>0.05). These results suggest inulin can be used as a prebiotic feed additive to enhance production in carp farming. Keywords: common carp, feed additive, growth, inulin, prebiotic ABSTRAK Penambahan inulin dalam pakan berpotensi meningkatkan kesehatan, kinerja pertumbuhan dan pemanfaatan pakan ikan. Abstract

Efficient feed is very important to understand the quality and quantity of feed concerning fish growth, if the fish consumes feed with the proper nutritional requirements for the fish's body needs. The amount of nutrients used by the fish's body will be minimal. One of the common problems in the process of making artificial feed is the use of vegetable protein in suboptimal feed due to the presence of anti-nutritional factors called phytic acid, which can reduce the amount of nutrients such as protein and minerals, and will affect the growth of the organism. This study aims to analyze the transformation and efficiency of feed in giant gourami fish fry by adding phytase enzymes to artificial feed. The data collected were displayed in tables and bar charts and analyzed using descriptive methods. The findings of the study stated that the addition of 3 mg/kg phytase to the feed produced better results than the control and other phytase doses (1 g/kg feed and 2 g/kg feed) in terms of feed conversion (1.02), feed utilization efficiency (97.77%), increased in total length (7.22 cm), and increased in absolute weight of giant gourami fish fry (197.44 g). During the study, water quality was measured at a temperature of 27-28°C, pH 6-7.3, oxygen levels of 4.8-6.3 mg/L, and ammonia levels of 0.02-0.08 mg/L.
