Abstract

Stunting in toddlers is related to growth and development disorders. One important factor in preventing stunting is the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (CHLB). CHLB plays a role in improving the nutritional and health status of children, as well as preventing various diseases that can contribute to stunting. The role of cadres is very important because cadres are responsible for implementing the posyandu program, are the main movers in promotive, preventive activities and are motivators for community members. The aim of this service is to analyse knowledge about PHBS among posyandu cadres in Tamanan Village, Tamanan District, Bondowoso Regency. The service method is an outreach activity aimed at providing knowledge about CHLB with the hope that people will change their behaviour to protect their health and the environment independently. Formative evaluation procedures in the form of pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. Continue with the normality test and paired sample t-test. The results obtained were that this community service activity was carried out on all posyandu cadres. Evaluation showed that there was a difference in the average test scores before and after the counselling. Providing counselling is able to provide changes in the knowledge of posyandu cadres which is marked by an increase in posttest scores which are higher compared to posttest scores. The conclusion is that the knowledge of Tamanan Bondowoso Village Posyandu cadres regarding CHLB in efforts to reduce stunting in toddlers can be increased through the counselling provided.Keywords: CHLB, counseling, posyandu cadres, stunting.

Abstract

In recent years, the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of personal hygiene to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. This article examines the innovation of natural ingredient-based hand sanitizer production and the empowerment of women through training in Dusun Krajan, Lengkong Village, Mumbulsari District, Jember. By providing education and practical training in making hand sanitizer and moringa leaf tea, this initiative aims to enhance women's capacity to maintain family and community health. The training results indicate an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in producing safe sanitation and strengthening women's participation in public health. In conclusion, the empowerment of women through this initiative can enhance the well-being of families and communities as a whole.Keywords: battle leaves, hand sanitizer, infectious diseases, moringa tea, women empowerment

Abstract

Background: Diabetes melitus is a chronic metabolic disease due to the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin or the body cannot use insulin effectively.Periodontitis is one of the complications of microvascular disorders that ranks second in oral cavity diseases. One of the aerobic bacteria thought to play a role in the severity of diabetes melitus is Staphylococcus aureus, while the pathogenic anaerobic bacteria in periodontal disease are Treponema, Bacteroides, Porphyromonas, Prevotella, Capnocytophaga, Peptostreptococcus, Fusobacterium, Actinobacillus, and Eikenella. The study aimed to determine the microbiological profile in oral cavity infections of rats with diabetes melitus and periodontitisMethod: This study was experimental laboratories on male wistar rats induced by diabetes melitus and periodontitis using wire ligature on mandibular molars, which were divided into 3 treatment groups: group I (control), group II (diabetes melitus) and group III (diabetes melitus and periodontitis). Periodontitis (wire) rats were treated for 7 days and saliva was collected to identify the microbiological profile of the oral cavity. Result: Identification indicated the presence of genus and species of bacteria in the saliva of rats in 3 groups, gram positive: Staphylococcus intermedius, Staphylococcus cohnii subsp.urelyticus. Gram negative: Chromobacterium violaceum, Kleibseilla pneumoniae, Eikenella corrodens, Enterobacter sakazaki and Chryseobacterium meningosepticum. Conclusion: The number of bacterial colonies in the treatment group of diabetes melitus and periodontitis rats was greater than the treatment group of diabetes melitus rats and the control group. Gram staining results found groups of gram positive and gram negative bacteria.

Abstract

Background: One of the benign tumors of the salivary glands is Warthin's Tumor (WT), which consists of cystic bilayer papillary epithelial cells accompanied by the presence of a lymphoid stroma. Several cases have been reported to turn malignant. One of the markers developed to identify tumor proteins is fibrinogen-like protein 1 (FGL1). Along with lymphocyte-activation gene 3 (LAG-3), FGL1 establishes an immune checkpoint pathway that plays a role in the mechanism of tumor immune escape. Not much has been reported regarding FGL1 expression in WT, but some studies have reported that its expression is associated with tumor growth. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the location of FGL1 expression in WT and its relation to the mechanism of tumor immune release through the interaction between FGL1 and LAG-3. Methods: Cases of WT (n = 11) and breast cancer (n = 1) were used as positive controls. All cases were stained with hematoxylin-eosin and Recombinant Anti-FGL1 antibody. The FGL1 expression was observed in the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and lymphoid stroma. The results are presented in the form of figures. Results: All cases of WT expressed FGL1 in the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and lymphoid stroma. Its expression in the cell membrane and cytoplasm is possibly related to the process of tumorigenesis and the increasing size of the lesion. Additionally, its expression is seen in the lymphoid stroma, which is closely related to immune escape by inhibiting lymphocytes against tumor cells. Conclusion: Warthin's tumor cells express FGL1, and this expression plays a role in tumor immune escape mechanisms and tumor growth.

Abstract

Background: Epithelial formation or re-epithelialization is one of the parameters in the wound closure. Nutrition has become a major factors in the successful outcome during this process. Anchovy (Stolephorus sp.) contains several proteins, vitamins, and minerals that can act as supplements to support wound closure. This research proposed to understand the effect of anchovy intake toward epithelial thickness of the rats post tooth extraction.Method: This research was an experimental laboratory with a post-test-only control group design using 24 rats as a sample. Rats were divided into 2 groups, the control and the treatment group with 12 rats each. The mandibular left first molar of the samples was extracted, then given with aquadest (the control) and anchovy powder (the treatment) during 3, 5, and 7 days. All rats were decapitated after 24 hours from the last treatment, followed by tissue processing and staining with Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) for examination. A microscope that connects with optilab on a magnification of 100x was used to measure the epithelial thickness on the thickest and thinnest part of the epithelial. The data were analysed with One-way ANOVA test and LSD test. Result: The results showed that the epithelial thickness of the treatment group was significantly increased compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study concludes that the anchovy (Stolephorus sp.) intake affects increasing epithelial socket thickness of the rats post tooth extraction.

Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, tooth extraction is the most common practice in dentistry. A successful indicator of tooth extraction is a perfect healing process. One of the parameters of a perfect healing process is epithelial formation. Based on previous research, arabica coffee fruit skin has proven potential to accelerate the wound healing process. The compounds in the arabica coffee fruit skin are mostly composed of flavonoids, tannins, and chlorogenic acid. Purpose: This research is proposed to understand the beneficial effect of arabica coffee fruit skin (Coffea arabica) towards the increase of epithelial thickness in post tooth extraction socket. Material and Method: The type of this research was laboratory experimental in vivo with post-test only control group design using 24 Wistar rats as a sample. The sample was separated into two groups, control and intervention groups with 12 Wistar rats each. Treatment in both groups was given during 3, 5, and 7 days. Afterward, tissue processing undergoes with buccolingual cutting and HE coloring. Measurements are carried out with the ImageRaster software in the thickest and thinnest part of the epithelium that covers the tooth socket. Result: Epithelial thickness after tooth extraction increased significantly (p<0.05) in the intervention group compared to the control group. Conclusion: Arabica coffee fruit skin has the beneficial effect of increasing the epithelial thickness after tooth extraction.
