Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are prevalent in society, especially in Indonesia, including hypertension. The emergence of health problems here is caused by individual negligence, such as unhealthy eating patterns and can also be caused by public ignorance about maintaining health. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of telenursing education on self-care management in hypertension patients in the Manding Health Center work area. The research method used in this study uses quantitative research using design Quasi Experimental, with control group (pretest-posttest with control group design). The sampling method used in this study was simple random sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire with the Borg Scale and Leiceste Cugh Questionnaire instruments. This study began with a pretest then provided telenursing self-care management education once a week for one month in the treatment group and continued with a posttest. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence before and after being given telenursing education on the treatment group. Based on the Wilcoxon test in the treatment group before and after being given education, p = 0.000 (p <α) was obtained, which means that there is an influence of Telenursing Self Care Management Education on Self Care Management in hypertension patients. Seeing the results of this study, it is recommended for hypertension sufferers to pay more attention to their health and carry out all components of hypertension control in a disciplined manner.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents are a group that is vulnerable to the spread of HIV/AIDS due to risky behavior such as unprotected sexual intercourse and drug use. One approach that can be used to understand and reduce this risky behavior is self-efficacy, which is an individual's belief in their ability to take preventive action. The purpose of this study was to test the model of risky behavior towards preventing HIV/AIDS transmission based on self-efficacy in adolescents in Sumenep City District, Methods: This study is an observational analytical study, the population of the study is all adolescents aged at least 16 years in the Sumenep City District Results: Based on the Goodness of Fit table, the final model for adolescent risk behavior in the Sumenep City District can be said to be fit when viewed from several criteria, for example the Chi-square value of 0.001 (which is expected to be small), the GFI value of 0.915 (standard> 0.90), the NFI value of 0.934 (standard> 0.90), and the RMR value of 0.030 (standard <0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the self-efficacy-based behavioral model is effective in reducing risky behavior and increasing preventive measures for HIV/AIDS transmission among adolescents in the Sumenep City District. This approach can be an effective strategy in preventing HIV/AIDS in the adolescent community by increasing their confidence in their ability to take appropriate preventive measures.

Abstract

Background: Leprosy has a long-standing history and continues to cause not only health-related complications but also major social difficulties. Individuals affected by this disease require interpersonal support to perform proper self-care and to minimize the risk of further transmission. This research sought to examine the effect of social group support on self-care practices among people with leprosy in Sumenep Regency, Madura, Indonesia. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out between August and November 2021 in Sumenep Regency. The target population comprised 232 leprosy patients registered at 28 health centers, from which 145 participants were chosen using proportional random sampling. The research instrument was questionnaire covers two main domains: Social Group Support and Self-Care Behavior. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS.  Results: The findings revealed that social group support had a significant impact on self-care behaviors, with a T-value of 6.368 (>1.96). In addition, personal factors also influenced self-care, as indicated by a T-value of 4.110 (>1.96). Conclusion: Both social and personal support significantly enhance self-care behavior in leprosy patients. Strengthening group-based and individual support is therefore essential to improve self-care practices and decrease the likelihood of disease transmission.

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia. Conventional interventions often focus on pregnancy and early childhood, showing limited sustainability. Adolescents, as prospective parents, represent a strategic target for sustainable prevention, yet evidence on effective behavior change models for this group remains limited. Methods: This quasi-experimental study adhered to the TREND guideline. Female adolescents (N=120) aged 15-20 years from schools and Islamic boarding schools in Sumenep were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n=60) that received a structured IMB-based program or a control group (n=60) that received standard education. The intervention comprised sessions on information, motivation, and behavioral skills. Dependent variables were knowledge, motivation, and behavior, measured via validated questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U tests with significance at p < 0.05 Result: The intervention group showed significant improvements in knowledge (85% good post-test vs. 13.3% pre-test, p < 0.001), motivation (75% high post-test vs. 11.7% pre-test, p < 0.001), and behavior (90% good post-test vs. 11.6% pre-test, p < 0.001). The control group showed no significant changes. Conclusion: The IMB model effectively enhances stunting prevention knowledge, motivation, and behavior among adolescents. It is recommended for integration into adolescent health programs in similar LMIC settings.
