Abstract

In the era of intense global competition, companies must ensure that all organizational elements function optimally and align with strategic goals. PT. XYZ, a seafood processing company under X Group, faces challenges in achieving production targets, with an average realization of 59% in the first half of 2024. High employee turnover (13%) and dissatisfaction with wages and working conditions have been identified as key issues impacting performance. These challenges underscore the need for a comprehensive evaluation to improve productivity and achieve performance excellence. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the AVP production department at PT. XYZ using the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence (MBCfPE). Data collection involved distributing questionnaires to 30 respondents, including managers, supervisors, Rnd, Purchasing, and employees, followed by validity and reliability testing using Smart PLS software. The evaluation results indicate that the AVP production department achieved a total score of 814.53, placing it in the "Benchmark Leader" category. This score reflects strong performance across the seven MBCfPE criteria, demonstrating effective leadership, strategic planning, and operational focus. However, areas such as workforce engagement and satisfaction require further improvement. These findings provide actionable insights to enhance employee retention, operational efficiency, and overall performance. The results affirm that PT. XYZ's AVP production department has established itself as a leader in the seafood processing industry, offering a model for excellence that can inspire similar organizations.

Abstract

The harvesting process in oil palm plantations is one of the critical stages that greatly affects the productivity and quality of production results. The risks that arise in this process, both from operational risks, environmental risks, and human resource risks can have a significant impact on operational efficiency. This study aims to determine the level of risk in the harvesting process of oil palm products at PT XYZ South Kalimantan and to find out the proposed improvements that are in accordance with the problems faced using the mixed method, which combines qualitative and quantitative techniques. The results of the study showed that there were three levels of risk with the highest risk values. Namely the risk of work accidents with a risk value of 20 and a high risk level, the risk of damage to harvesting equipment with a risk value of 10 and a moderate risk level, and the risk of replacing harvesting equipment with a risk value of 10 and a moderate risk level. These three risks are risks with the highest priority level of handling. For this reason, it is recommended to focus on human control and SOPs, control of tools and procedures, and change management. With proper risk management, the harvesting process can run more efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires to respondents, and interviews. The testing method used SPSS.20. Data analysis in this study used validity tests, reliability tests and multiple linear regression analysis. The classical assumption test in this study used normality tests, multicollinearity tests, and heteroscedasticity tests. The hypothesis in this study used partial tests (t-tests), simultaneous tests (f-tests) and determination tests (R2). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that Communication has a positive and significant influence on employee performance, namely the t-count value t-table (3.261 1.693) with a significance level of 0.003 0.05. Teamwork has a positive and significant influence on employee performance, namely the t-count value t-table (2.446 1.693) with a significance level of 0.020 0.05. And Communication and Teamwork simultaneously have a positive and significant influence on employee performance, namely the F-count value F-table (47.1363.30) with a significance level of 0.0000.05. And the result of the determination coefficient R2 is 0.753. This shows that in terms of employee performance at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara II, Kebun Partumbak is influenced by Communication and Teamwork as much as 75.30% while 24.70%. Abstract

The cement producing industry has a high level of occupational accident risk due to the complexity of the production process and potential hazards at every stage of the work. PT X, faces the challenge of improving occupational safety risk management, especially at the raw material processing workstation. By utilizing the HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control) method, this study aims to provide a systematic risk management solution to minimize work accidents that can impact worker safety and the company's operational efficiency and propose effective risk control measures at raw material processing work. The results of the study are based on a risk assessment in terms of raw material processing there are 13 potential hazards from 6 stages of the raw material processing work process. Each risk level at the raw material processing workstation includes an extreme level of 26%, a high level of 38%, a medium level of 27% and a low level of 9%. Hierarchy of Control method: elimination, substitution, engineering, administration and PPE are used for risk control. Keywords: HIRARC, Occupational Safety, Risk Control

Abstract

General Background: The global secondhand luxury watch market has experienced rapid growth, becoming a crucial segment of the circular economy due to sustainability concerns and investment potential. Specific Background: Despite this potential, many Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries, such as Indonesia, struggle with informal operational practices, including inconsistent grading, unsystematic sorting, and fragmented inventory systems. Knowledge Gap: Existing studies on business process efficiency have rarely focused on SMEs in the pre-owned luxury watch sector, leaving a gap in structured frameworks tailored to this industry. Aims: This study aimed to design and validate a systematic operational model to enhance efficiency and decision-making in a case study SME, Watchout.id. Results: Using Business Process Mapping, a new workflow was created and complemented by two objective rubrics—an Effort Assessment and an Impact Assessment—integrated into a novel 3x3 Zoned Priority Matrix. This framework was further supported by a prototype inventory dashboard. Validation with the business owner confirmed the framework’s applicability and relevance. Novelty: The research introduces an enhanced decision-making tool beyond the traditional 2x2 matrix, offering more nuanced categorization and resource allocation strategies. Implications: The proposed framework provides a replicable model for SMEs in the secondhand luxury market, enabling more efficient, scalable, and data-driven operations. Highlights: Structured framework improves SME efficiency. 3x3 Priority Matrix enables nuanced decisions. Integrated dashboard enhances inventory visibility. Abstract

General background: Ensuring supply continuity and efficiency in cement distribution is a critical challenge for manufacturing companies. Specific background: PT. S faces a strategic decision between producing Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) in-house or purchasing from external suppliers. Knowledge gap: Previous studies often assess make-or-buy decisions in general terms but rarely integrate operational simulations with financial feasibility for cement distribution. Aims: This study evaluates the comparative feasibility of in-house OPC production versus external purchasing by analyzing demand forecasting, production capacity, distribution performance, and economic outcomes. Results: Using Discrete-Event Simulation (DES), the study finds that a two-day pre-production strategy meets demand of 1,803 tons with a trailer cycle time of 89.9 minutes and effective loading duration of 7 hours and 35 minutes. Net Present Value (NPV) analysis reveals that the in-house option yields Rp2.16 billion, outperforming the buy option’s negative Rp3.18 billion. Novelty: The integration of DES with NPV offers a robust framework for linking operational efficiency and financial viability in cement supply chain decisions. Implications: The findings indicate that in-house production is the more feasible option, providing higher financial returns, reducing supplier dependency, and strengthening operational resilience. Highlights: In-house OPC production outperforms external purchasing financially. DES + NPV integration provides a novel decision-making framework. Strategy strengthens supply continuity and operational resilience. Keywords: Make or Buy, OPC Cement, Discrete Event Simulation, Distribution Strategy, NPV Analysis
