Abstract

ABSTRACT              Snakehead (Channa striata) is carnivorous fish that requires a source of nutrients from animal. Trash fish is one of alternative feed that can be used to rearing snakehead. This research aims to determine survival rate and growth of snakehead fry feeding by trash fish. This research is conduct on June- July 2016 in the Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Aquaculture Study Program. The research is design using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consist of five treatments that are freshwater trash fish 100% (P1), marine trash fish 100% (P2), freshwater trash fish 75% : marine trash fish 25% (P3), freshwater trash fish 50% : marine trash fish 50% (P4), and freshwater trash fish 25% : marine trash fish 75% (P5). The parameters to be observed were survival rate, growth, feed efficiency and water quality. Based on the research results indicate (P4) the survival rate, growth absolutly length, absolutly weight and feed efficiency are significantly different. (P4) trash fish 50%: marine trash fish 50% diet is show highest value of survival rate, growth absolutly length, absolutly weight and feed efficiency are respectively 83.33%, 1.90 cm, 0.500 g and 71.93%.  Water quality of rearing measurements during the research were temperature 28.8-29.7°C, pH 6.5-7.9, dissolved oxygen 4.50-5.27 mg.L-1 and ammonia 0.09- 0.24 mg.L-1. Abstract

ABSTRACT Probiotics are live microorganisms that have a beneficial and be able tosurvive in the digestive tract. The  purpose of this research was to know the effectivity of variant probiotics microbes on feed to increase growth, feed efficiency and survival rate of snakehead fry (Channa striata). The research had been conducted in Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Departement of Aquaculture, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University on January until March 2016. The research method used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications. The treatments were P1 : without probiotics (control),   P2 (probiotics A ), P3 (probiotics B) and P4 (probiotics C). Parameters that had been observed   were   survival   rate,   growth,   feed   efficiency,   and   water   quality parameters. The result showed that variant of probiotics on feed gave significant effect of survival rate,growth and feed efficiency of snake head (Channa striata) fry. P3 treatment (probiotic feed consisting of microbes Lactobacillus sp., Streptomyces sp.,  Actinomycetes sp., and yeast) gave the highest of survival rate (95%), growth weight (1.72 g) and growth lenght (1.89 cm), and feed efficiency (34.93%).  During  the  research,  water  quality  were  in  tolerance  range  for Snakehead fry (Channa striata) rearing : temperature was 27 – 280C, pH 5.1 – 6.8, dissolved oxygen 3.11 – 5.96 mg.L-1 and ammonia 0.02 – 0.09 mg.L-1.   Key words : Probiotics, Snakehead fry, Fish feed

Abstract

ABSTRACT Increasing density in fish culture is one of the effort to increase fish culture production. The aim of the research was to determine the best stocking density of snakehead that reared in biofloc media. The research conducted on July-August 2015 in Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Aquaculture Study Program, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. The research based on completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications. The treatments were 150 fish.m-3 (P1), 300 fish.m-3 (P2) and 450 fish.m-3 (P3). The research parameters were survival rate, absolute length and weight growth, feed efficiency, floc volume, total of lactic acid bacteria and water quality. The best density of this research was treatment P1 which density of 150 ind.m-3 with survival was 98.52%, absolute lenght growth was 2.18 cm, absolute weight growth was 7.85 g and feed efficiency was 90.73%.   Key words : Biofloc, Snakehead fish, Stocking density

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aims of this research were to determining the right changed periode of Artemia sp., Moina sp., and artificial feed as fed of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae to growth and survival rate.The research used completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications. The treatment was difference changed periode of Artemia sp., Moina sp., and artificial feed as fed of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae. Artemia sp. were fed at 3–15 days after hatching,  Moina sp. were fed at 14 – 24 days after hatching and artificial feed at 21–33 days after hatching (I: 3-15, II: 14-24, III: 21-33) as treatment A;  Artemia sp. were fed at  3–11 days after hatching,  Moina sp. were fed at 10 – 20 days after hatching, and artificial feed at 17–33 days after hatching (I: 3-11, II: 10-20, III:17-33) as treatment B; Artemia sp. were fed at 3–7 days after hatching,  Moina sp. were fed at 6-18 days after hatching and artificial feed at 15–33 days after heatching ( I: 3-7, II: 6-18, III: 15-33) as treatment C. Fish were fed three times a day at 8 am, 10.30 am, 1 pm, 3.30 pm, 6 pm using at satiation method.Based on Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), the results showed significant difference effect in specific weight growth rate but no significant difference effect in specific lenght growth rate. Result of Honestly Significance Difference test showed the highest specific weight growth rate was treatment C, but no significant difference with treatment B. The best treatment for survival rate was treatment A  which significant difference with treatment C but no significant difference with treatment B. As long as research, water quality was in optimum range for  climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae  rearing. Temperature was  27-28 oC , DO 3.38-5.06 mg.L-1 , pH 4.4-6.6, ammonia 0.002-0.008 mg.L-1. Keywords:Climbing perch, feed type, feed changing period, survival rate, growth rate

Abstract

ABSTRACTOne of problem on snakehead culture is lower value of survival and growth because of disease occurence. The aim of this research was to know the effect of different feeding time duration on survival and growth rate of snakehead fed by black cumin challenged by A.hydrophila. This research conducted from August until September 2015 in Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research method used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with seven treatments and three replications : P1(fed without black cumin during 30 days no challenged), P2 (fed without black cumin during 30 days challenged by A. hydrophila), P3 (fed contain black cumin during 30 days no challenged), P4 (fed contain black cumin during 30 days challenged by A. hydrophila), P5 (fed contain black cumin during 21 days challenged by A. hydrophila), P6 (fed contain black cumin during 14 days challenged by A.hydrophila), and P7 (fed contain black cumin during 30 days challenged by A. hydrophila). The result of the research showed that snakehead fed by black cumin during 14 days (P6) challenged by A. hydrophila showed the highest value of survival rate, and growth, each sequentially were 93.33%, 5.28 g, and 1.32 cm. Keywords : snakehead, black cumin, survival rate, growth

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to test the effectiveness of black cumin flour (N. sativa) was added to the feed to prevent infection by A. hyrophila on catfish. Catfish fed black cumin flour added as much as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% for 14 days, then tested for bacterial challenge with A. hydrophila 106 cfu.ml-1 through immersion. The results showed that administration of black cumin significantly (P <0.05) in the prevalence and survival of catfish, but not significantly (P> 0.05) on the growth of catfish. Black cumin was also able to increase the number of leucocytes and hematocrit levels. The best treatment in this study was the addition of black cumin as much as 15% in the feed, resulting in a prevalence of 2.22%, 88.33% survival, growth weight 2.51 grams, hematocrit 32%, and total leukocyte 14.88 x 104 sel.mm-3. Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to know the different of body weight ratio on spawning latency period, total eggs, percentage of fertilized eggs and percentage of hatched eggs. The research was conducted from March to April 2015 in Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University and Fish Breeding Unit Batanghari Sembilan, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. The research used experimental methode and it was arranged in a completely randomize design with four treatments and three replications. The pituitary extract induction with donor and recipient body weight ratio 1:1 (P1), 2:1 (P2), 3:1 (P3) and sintetic hormone induction (KP). The parameters observed were spawning latency period, total eggs, percentage of fertilized eggs and percentage of hatched eggs. The results showed that percentage of fertilized eggs 98.23-99.54% and percentage of hatched eggs 51.66-64.33%. The fastest of spawning latency period were showed by P3 20.47 hours while the best of total eggs were showed by P3 6,112 eggs.   Keywords: Spawning, Pituitary extract, Ratio, Donor, Recipient

Abstract

The goldfish is a ornamental fish that it has color of variations from red, yellow, white, orange, black and silver . The study aims to determine the effect from the addition carrot flour the feed to improve the color of the goldfish. This research was conducted on October - November 2018 at Laboraturium Kolam Percobaan, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University. Design the study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consist four treatments with three replications namely (T0) without carrot flour, (T1) 5% carrot flour in feed, (T2) 10% carrot flour in feed, (T3) 15% carrot flour in the feed. Parameters observed improving of goldfish, weight of fish, feed consumption, survival rate and water quality (temperature, pH and DO). The result showed of the study obtained a total comparison of the differences in color of goldfish was 8.15 (T0), 24.23 (T1), 22.92 (T2) and 18.75  (T3). Weight was T0 (0,87 cm - 0,85 g), T1 (0,99 cm - 1.04 g), T2 (0,89 cm - 0,63) and T3 (0,99 cm - 0,54 g). Feed consumption was T0 (9,25), T1 (9,94), T2 (12,00) and T3 (11,77). Survival rate was T0 (93,33%), T1 (100,00%), T2 (100,00%) and T3 (100,00%).  Water  quality during maintenance were temperature 25.0 – 35.8 0C, pH 6.5 – 8.9, DO 4.09 – 6.30 mg/L.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Climbing perch larvae as one of freshwater fish commodity that have survival rate is relatively very low, one the effort to improve survival rate and also growth of climbing perch larvae which give natural feed namely Daphnia sp. was enriched by corn oil. The research conducted on August until September 2014 at Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya and extract ether analysis of Daphnia sp. and climbing perch larvae at Laboratorium Nutrisi dan Makanan Ternak, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. The research using completely randomized design with one way classification use six treatments and three replications. Treatments arrange by control (A0), 0.0025 mL corn oil per L of water (A1), 0.005 mL corn oil per L of water (A2), 0.01 mL corn oil per L of water (A3), 0.02 mL corn oil per L of water (A4), and 0.04 mL corn oil per L of water (A5). The parameters observed include survival rate, growth of absolute weight and long, extract ether analysis of Daphnia sp. and climbing perch larvae, physic and chemical of water. The results showed that fed of Daphnia sp. was enriched use corn oil significantly gave survival rate, growth of absolute weight and long of climbing perch larvae. Daphnia sp. was enriched with concentration 0.01 mL corn oil per L of water, proven improve survival rate, growth of absolute weight and long of climbing perch larvae. Abstract

ABSTRACT Snakehead culture still has problem in production stage, especially at larvae phase because of high mortality after yolk sac finish period. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of feeding time different to growth and survival rate of Channa striata post larvae. The research was conduct on June until July 2015 in Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Department of Budidaya Perairan, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research methods used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications, method of changing the feed includes the naupli Artemia sp., Daphnia sp., and silk worm. The parameters of this research are growth of length, weight, survival rate, and water quality. The result of this research showed that feeding snakehead larvae by nauplii Artemia sp. at larvae age 4 – 13 days, Daphnia sp. at larvae age 16 – 21 days and silk worm at larvae age 24 – 33 days was  the best time to result better of Channa stirata spesific growth and survival rate of. Water quality during the research were temperature 26.9 – 28.6 oC, pH 6.3 – 6.8, dissolved oxygen 3.29 – 4.31 mg.L-1,and ammonia 0.09 – 0.43 mg.L-1.
