Abstract

SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus spread quickly worldwide affects a variety of industries. The government took preventive steps to control the infection, such as diagnosing the human's lung by taking an X-Ray to see if the lungs were infected with COVID-19 or not. Using several pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network models as the basic model, this research deconstructs the comparison of fine-tuned architecture to identify which pre-trained model delivers the best outcomes in diagnosis by applying machine learning. Comparison is conducted using two scenarios that use batch sizes 64 and 32. Accuracy and f1 score are two evaluation metrics used to justify the model's good performance because the images in the real world, especially for positive classes, are scarce. According to the study, EfficientNetB0 outperforms other pre-trained models, namely ResNet50V2 and Xception, which achieved an accuracy of 0.895 and f1 score of 0.8871.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and evaluate the implementation of the geocentric staffing approach in the managerial employee recruitment process at the Capital of Nusantara (IKN). The geocentric approach considers qualifications, skills, and experience without regard to the candidate's country of origin. The research methodology involves a case study and analysis of managerial recruitment data. Through a qualitative approach, this study evaluates the effectiveness of geocentric staffing in creating a diverse managerial team and supporting the development goals of IKN. However, implementation challenges such as cultural differences, communication, and individual expectations are also highlighted in this research. By understanding these challenges, the study offers strategic recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of Geocentric Staffing implementation in IKN.

Abstract

Background: The literature on the management of left main coronary artery disease (LMCAD) through percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) reveals a complex interplay of efficacy, safety, and long-term outcomes. The introduction of advanced technologies, particularly drug-eluting stents (DES), has positioned PCI as a viable alternative to CABG, even in cases traditionally managed by surgical intervention. Literature Review: The findings from (Eifert et al., 2010) indicate a significant increase in the acceptance of PCI, with long-term survival rates being comparable to CABG in both single and multivessel cases. However, concerns arise regarding the higher rates of recurrent symptoms and the necessity for repeat operations following PCI, which may question its long-term efficacy, particularly in the context of LMCAD. Conclusion: In conclusion, the body of literature supports the notion that both PCI and CABG are viable treatment options for LMCAD, with each approach offering distinct advantages and limitations. The decision-making process should be individualized, taking into account patient-specific factors, including age, comorbidities, and the anatomical complexity of coronary lesions. Ongoing research and longer follow-up studies are essential to further elucidate the long-term implications of these interventions and to refine clinical guidelines for the management of LMCAD.

Abstract

Indonesia is highly susceptible to earthquakes due to its location at the convergence of the Indo-Australian, Eurasian, and Pacific tectonic plates. This makes buildings in Indonesia particularly vulnerable to seismic damage. To enhance structural resilience, the use of shear walls has proven effective in strengthening buildings against earthquake forces. This study analyzes the seismic performance of the ABC building structure without shear walls and compares it to structures with three different shear wall configurations. These configurations vary in length and thickness but have similar moments of inertia. The shear walls are placed in identical positions across all models, ensuring that performance differences are solely due to geometric variations. Structures without shear walls serve as a baseline for comparison. The seismic load analysis uses the response spectrum method to evaluate key parameters such as behavior during natural vibration periods, percentage of seismic load received by the structure, lateral displacement, and inter-story drift. Findings indicate that the model with a 3-meter-long and 300 mm thick shear wall is the most effective, achieving the smallest reductions in natural vibration period and inter-story drift, thereby offering the best improvement in structural resilience.

Abstract

Writing Mandarin characters is considered the most challenging component for beginners due to the rules and character formations. This paper explores the potential of a machine learning-based digital learning tool for writing Mandarin characters. It also conducts a comparative study between MobileNetV2 and MobileNetV3, exploring different configurations. The research follows the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method to create both the application and machine learning models. Participants from higher education institutions that offer Mandarin courses in Batam, Indonesia, were involved in a User Acceptance Test (UAT). Data was gathered through questionnaires and analyzed using the System Usability Scale (SUS) methods. The results show positive user acceptance, with an SUS score of 77.92%, indicating a high level of acceptability. MobileNetV3Small was also preferred for recognizing the user’s handwriting, due to comparable accuracy size, rapid inference time, and smallest model size. While the application was well-received, several participants provided constructive feedback, suggesting potential improvements.
