Abstract

Introduction:  This study aims to analyze the effect of psychosocial factors on hemodialysis program adherence. Methods: The study was cross-sectional, with a sample size of 90 respondents, obtained through simple random sampling. The study’s dependent variable was hemodialysis program adherence and the independent variables were knowledge, motivation, coping, depression, perceived family support and health worker support. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results: Most respondents adhered to the hemodialysis program (90%). The level of knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, and health worker support was in the good category (93.3%; 100%; 91.1%; 90%; 88.9%, respectively), and did not experience depression (90%). The independent variables (knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, health worker support) simultaneously significantly affected the dependent variable, namely adherence to the hemodialysis program by 94.5% (R2 = 0.945; F = 236.613; p = 0.001). Partially, the factors of knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, health workers support, and depression also had a significant effect on hemodialysis program adherence (t = 2.234, t = 5.344, t = 3.473, t = -4.190, t = 6.457, t = 4.887, t = 4.190, respectively; p = 0.001). Conclusions: The study results showed that psychosocial factors (knowledge, motivation, coping, family support, health worker support, and depression) simultaneously or partially influenced the adherence of CKD patients to undergo a hemodialysis program, with the most dominant factor affecting adherence to hemodialysis as perceived family support.  Keywords: Adherence, Hemodialysis, Psychosocial

Abstract

Chronic kidney failure was a disease that occurred due to progressive problems with kidney function that could not be changed, often requiring kidney replacement therapy, specifically hemodialysis. Hemodialysis was a treatment that individuals with chronic kidney failure had to undergo throughout their lives. However, hemodialysis therapy could cause several side effects, such as fatigue. Sustained fatigue that was not treated promptly reduced a patient’s quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between fatigue and quality of life in chronic kidney failure patients who underwent hemodialysis at RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. This research used a correlative quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The total sample consisted of 93 respondents, with a 10% addition for potential dropouts, processed using G*Power. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling in the form of consecutive sampling. The instruments that were used were the FACIT-Fatigue Scale and WHOQOL-BREF. The hypothesis test employed Kendall's Tau-C. The results of the correlation test analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a calculated r value of -0.418. The conclusion of this study was that there was a relationship between fatigue and quality of life in hemodialysis patients, with the strength of the relationship being moderate and the direction negative. This meant that the higher the level of fatigue felt, the more a patient’s quality of life decreased. Therefore, it was necessary to conduct a more in-depth study regarding the symptoms of fatigue so that appropriate interventions could reduce fatigue levels, thereby improving patients’ quality of life. Abstract

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) becomes a health crisis in the world. The main route of spreading COVID-19 is through the respiratory tract, but this virus also spread through extra respiratory route. This literature review aimed to describe the ocular transmission as an alternative route of COVID-19 transmission. This literature review study used sources of article obtained through ProQuest, Springer, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Google Scholar with range 2019-2020 publication years and were traced using a combination of search term for ocular transmission, virus receptor, eye manifestation and COVID-19. Previous research used Experimental design, Case study, and Cross-sectional study, and published from 2019 to 2020. Then analyzed by PRISMA diagram method with four stages starting from identification, screening, eligibility, and included. 4 articles used Experimental study design, 4 articles used Cross-sectional study design, and 2 articles used case study design. This study showed that COVID-19 RNA was found on ocular (conjunctiva and cornea) in a low percentage (2.23%-24%). Patients with confirmed COVID-19 could have ocular manifestations. COVID-19 enter the human body through the eye by spike protein binds to eye receptors that are: ACE2, CD147/Basigin/EMMPRIN, TMPRSS2, ANPEP and AGTR2. Then this virus transferred to the respiratory tract through the nasolacrimal duct. The study showed that ocular transmission can be an alternative route of COVID-19 transmission even with a low percentage level, so it is important for health worker to wear eye protector.

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy, occurring at the age of 15-19 years, is a global public health problem with negative impacts for both mother and baby. The purpose of the study is to analyze the efforts that have been made in various countries in dealing with the impact of adolescent pregnancy to obtain strategies and recommendations that have the potential to create positive changes in handling the problem of adolescent pregnancy globally. This research method uses a literature review. The literature search process carried out in this literature review uses the database Scopus with a range of publication years 2019-2023. The search was conducted using several keywords "Teenage pregnancy" AND "impact". The findings of 10 journals show that teenage pregnancy has significant health and social impacts, including the risk of obstetric complications, high rates of maternal and infant mortality, and long-term consequences for mother and child. Factors such as low access to education, lack of knowledge about reproductive health, peer influence, and family problems trigger teenage pregnancy. The importance of a holistic approach involving collaboration between government, religious leaders, families, and educational institutions to prevent teenage pregnancy, increase knowledge of sexual education, and form positive, preventive attitudes needs to be done to reduce the risks and adverse effects associated with teenage pregnancy.
