Abstract

Nursing faculty and students consider incivility as moderate to serious problem in nursing education programs. The primary cause of incivility among nursing faculties is stress. Indonesian undergraduate nursing students experience moderate to severe stress throughout the program. This study aimed to examine the effect of stress on incivility among Indonesian undergraduate nursing students and to identify the most significant factors predicting incivility in nursing education. A quantitative, cross-sectional study was conducted involving 220 Indonesian undergraduate nursing students from a public university in Indonesia that selected using convenience sampling. The instruments employed were the Student Nurse Stress Index and the Incivility in Nursing Education-Revised Scale. Ethical approval was granted from the relevant faculty. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze data, and multivariate analysis employing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was conducted to determine the most significant predictor of incivility. The mean stress score was 67.18, indicating moderate stress, while the mean incivility score y was 46.50, which means high incivility. Age and academic year were negatively associated with incivility in nursing education, with p-values of 0.041 and 0.004, respectively. The clinical concern domain of stress was the most significant predictor of incivility among Indonesian undergraduate nursing students (p=0.000). It is expected that Indonesian undergraduate nursing students will effectively manage stress to control that incivility behavior and prevent negative impacts on themselves and their nursing education institutions. During this phase, significant cognitive and psychosocial changes take place, which can have an impact on adolescents' social relationships and their ability to form a sense of self-identity. The objective of the activity was to impart health education in adolescents with the aim of enhancing their understanding of the tasks associated with psychosocial growth and development during this stage of life. This activity involved 163 teenage participants from Public Senior High School 6 Padang and was structured into four sequential stages: socialization, pre-test to measure knowledge, health education delivery using presentation and discussion approach, and post-test to measure knowledge after the intervention. Both the pre-test and post-test utilized the same questionnaire, which was developed by the PKM team and based on the material provided, specifically referring to Erickson's concept of adolescent psychosocial growth and development. The results of the intervention indicated that the average knowledge score prior to receiving health education was 6.09 (SD = 1.463), which increased to 8.25 (SD = 1.264) after the intervention. This increase in average knowledge scores suggests a positive impact of the health education intervention on the participants' understanding of adolescent psychosocial growth and development. Furthermore, the results of the Paired t-test demonstrated a significant difference in participants' knowledge about adolescent psychosocial growth and development before and after receiving health education. These findings underscore the effectiveness of providing health education in enhancing teenagers' knowledge about psychosocial growth and development during adolescence. This study provides valuable insights into the potential of health education interventions to positively influence the psychosocial development of teenagers, emphasizing the significance of addressing this aspect of adolescent well-being. Such initiatives can serve as preventive measures to mitigate mental health issues among adolescents.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health problems require early identification and school-based follow-up. This community service program aimed to map self-reported symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress and to deliver mental health education and Youth Mental Health Cadre orientation at SMK N 1 Lembah Gumanti. On May 28, 2025, 225 eleventh-grade students completed the Indonesian Depression Anxiety Stress Scales for Youth (IDASS-Y) and participated in face-to-face education, coping-skill demonstrations, and peer-support orientation. Screening data were analyzed descriptively. Symptoms above the normal category were identified for anxiety in 90 students (40.0%), depression in 56 (24.9%), and stress in 51 (22.7%). Moderate-to-extremely-severe categories were recorded in 54 students (24.0%) for anxiety, 34 (15.1%) for depression, and 28 (12.4%) for stress. The program delivered education and clarified cadres’ roles as peer educators and referral connectors. However, no pre-post assessment measured changes in literacy, stigma, behavior, or cadre competence. The findings support confidential follow-up for students with elevated scores, supervised peer support, and a formal referral pathway linking the school with primary care and mental health professionals. Future programs should include pre-post and follow-up evaluation.
