Abstract

AbstractPharella acutidens clam is a bivalve lives in mangrove ecosystem , which is one of protein source for Rupats’ people. This research was conducted in Maret 2018 located at the mangrove forest of Sungai Cingam Village, Rupat Sub District, Bengkalis Regency. This research was aimed to determine the habitat characteristics, density and distribution patterns of P. acutidens . It used survey method and sampling location determined by purposive sampling. Measurement of water quality was done by in situ and ex situ which consist of physics and chemical parameters. Habitat characteristicsof P. acutidens was muddy sand,  and sandy mud . Sediment organic matter was high 10,60-14.85%. The water quality parameters were still support for the life of the P. acutidens. The average density was 1,8-4.2 ind/m2. The highest density was in middle zone and the lowest in upper zoneof the Intertidal. The distribution pattern was grouping. While highest size of individual P.acutidens found 7cm.Keyword: Habitat Characteristics, Density, Distribution Patterns, P. acutidens.

Abstract

This research was conducted from January-February 2013 in the coastalwaters in Tanjung Balai Asahan, North Sumatera Province. The aim of thisresearch was to understand the pattern distribution and density of fur shells (A.inflate). Survey method was applied on this research where data were obtained bydirect observation in the field. The samples of shells fur were analyzed in thelaboratory of Marine Biology, of Riau University. Water quality parameters weremeasured in situ. The results showed that the pattern distribution of fur shells (Anadarainflata) was in a group. The density of A. Inflata ranged from 125 ind/m2 to 136ind/m2. These values were not significant different when they were statisticallytested. Moreover, the water quality parameters were in the sufficient range formarine fur shells (A. inflata) survival. Keywords: Anadara inflata, distribution, Tanjung Balai Asahan, density

Abstract

This research was conducted in Febuary - April 2016 at Anak Setatah Village, West Rangsang District Meranti Archipelagos Riau Province. This study aims to determine the effect of spacing on seedling height, survival rateand leave number of A. marina. The method used was experiment method. Planting space treatment were 25, 50 and 75 cm. The result for 60 days of observation show that the best space in high found in plant spacing 75 cm with a value of 26,04 cm/60 days, and the best growth for diameter was at space of 25 cm, with a stem diameter growth of 0.41 cm/60 days. The highest number of leaves in a spacing of 75 cm. The Anova test results that spasing planting given effect to height grow, stem diameter, and total number of leafs A. marina. Student- Newman- Keuls test show that treatment 25 cm is diffirent with 50 cm, and 75 cm, but treatment 50 cm is not diffirent with 75cm.Keywords: Avicennia marina, growth, and planting space.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study was conducted in March 2018. Sampling was conducted in the territorial waters of Kuala Kampar Sub-district, Pelalawan District. The purpose of this research is to know the ecology of N.costata, covering environmental condition, organic matter, population density, frequency of size and relationship of organic matter content in mangrove forest of Kuala Kampar Subdistrict. The method used in this research is survey method. The sampling station is determined purposively, by considering the condition of the sampling region. Each station has 3 transects and each transect consists of 3 plots so that there are 9 stations plot. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that Kuala Kampar water environment condition is still good, the highest organic material is at station II that is 14,89% and the lowest is at station I that is 6,77%. Population density between stations and between zones in Kuala Kampar Sub-district on N. costata ranges ranges up to 4.33-8.67 ind / m2. The class-size distribution of this dominating species found in the study sites was a size class (2.1-3.0 cm). The effect of organic content of sediment with N. costata density in research area was moderate with correlation coefficient value (r) = 0,30. Keywords: Density, N. costata, Organic Sediment

Abstract

This research was conducted in March 2014 in the coastal waters of the Village of Kuala Enok of Indragiri Hilir Regency in Riau Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of bacterial contamination of E. coli as an indicator of pollution on “tembakul” (P. schlosseri) fish in the coastal waters of Kuala Enok. Tembakul fish sampling conducted at three observation station, station I is located in the territorial waters adjacent to residential, station II is located in the creek waters, and station III is located in the open sea waters. Samples of “tembakul” fish were analyzed by using the MPN method three series tube at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Biotechnology of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty of University of Riau. The yield on the analysis of the sample gills, digestive tract and fish meat tembakul showed that at the settlement waters and the creek waters the number of bacteria was 1,100 MPN/g but had differences on the meat at the open waters with an average of 747.67 MPN/g. The results showed that the innoculation of bacteria growing at the time of isolation was from the coliform group. Total coliform values at each point of observation station was above the food quality and safety standards required by BSNI 7388: 2009 and BPOM (Agency for Food and Drug Administration) of the maximum contaminant limits in food is 10 MPN/g in fresh meat. Abstract

Oxbow lake ecosystem have been used by local people traditionally along with the human history. The ecosystem were of important for clean water resources, fishing and cage culture, collecting aquatic fauna as well as rice field. However, more intense human intervention has brought about recently an effect on the sustainability of the ecosystem in term of ecological, social economical perspective. Danau Timbang Bunga Pengantin of Sungai Sorik, were developed for tourist destination especially for water attraction activities, floating restaurant, and fish cage culture. As such, the ecological burden stressors increased significantly. The present study aimed at promoting awareness and participation of local people on conservation and protection of the ecosystem from unsustainable uses, by attending group extension in classroom and observation outdoor. The results showed that 60% of the community were just aware of the effect of certain activities done to the sustainability of the lake. Responses of the participants in the classroom categorized high and curious to participate on the conservation of the lake.

Abstract

This research was conducted in July-August 2019 in the northern part of the Poncan Gadang Island Sibolga, North Sumatra Province. This study discusses the distribution and distribution patterns of molluscs (gastropods and bivalves) which contain species, density, and species discussed in the northern part of Poncan Gadang Island, North Sumatra Province. The method used is a survey method, where the research location is divided into 5 observation stations and each station consists of 1 transect and each transect consists of 4 maps. The results showed that the type of gastropods found in the study site consisted of 11 species belonging to 6 families. Gastropod species that are commonly found are Littorina littorea. While the type of bivalves that were found at the study site consisted of 9 species belonging to 6 families, and the bivalves species that were found were Anadara granosa. Highest density at station III in the river mouth. Various index (H ') of gastropods and bivalves in all research stations are included in the medium category. Distribution Patterns both gastropods and bivalves are distributed in groups. The index value of approved gastropod and bivalve types (Ss) can be requested types which are found to be quite the same. The substrate at the study site was approved by the sand substrate. The density of both gastropods and bivalves were not significantly different between stations.

Abstract

This study was conducted in March 2020 to know the presence of microplastics in the digestive tract of wild threadfin fish in the coastal waters of Karimun Besar Island, Riau Islands. The method used in this study was survey method. The results showed that the abundance of microplastics in the digestive tract of fish varies, the lowest of 2.89 particles / individu to the highest of 5.89 particles / individu with the dominant type found was fibre. The abundance of microplastic at station 1 was found to be higher than in station 2. The different anthropogenic activities in the two station were discussed. The Relationship between kurau fish size and microplastic abundance is weak with r = 0.21 and R² = 4.6% with the regression equation is y = 7.9747 – 0.0813x.
