Abstract

Ark cockle (Anadara inflata) is one of bivalve species found in Selat PanjangWaters. It is used as indicator of heavy metals pollution because of filter feedercharacteristic and of sedentary life mode. The objective of this study was to determine theconcentration of lead (Pb), Cuprum (Cu) , and Zincum (Zn) in ark cockle’s flesh and shellin Kronjo and Cituis. Heavy metals Pb, Cu, and Zn were analyzed by Atomic AbsorptionSpectrofotometer (AAS).The result showed that the consentration of Pb (3,81 μg/g) in ark cockle’s shell washigher than that of ark cockle’s flesh in contrary the consentration of Cu and Zn (6,03 μg/gand 7,54 μg/g) in ark cockle’s flesh was higher than concentration of Cu and Zn in arkcockle’s shell. Based on assisment of PWTI (Provisional Tolerable Weekly Intake) for heavymetals (Pb, Cu and Zn) in ark cockle A. inflata in Selat Panjang Waters, Meranti Island thatark cockle A. inflata safe to consumtion.Key words: Heavy Metals, Ark Cockle and Selat Panjang Waters

Abstract

A study of mangrove forests in Sekilak Coastal Batam Riau Islands was conducted in February 2014. The aim of this study was to determine the species composition, dominant species of mangrove and conditions in Batam Sekilak Beach. The survey method was used in this reaserch, where the observations were made with the belt transect method / belt transects. In the mangrove ecosystem was found 5 species of mangrove, included 3 families : Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Xylocarpus granatum, and Lumnitzera littorea. Importance values was highest on the group tree Rhizophora mucronata 136,79% (Station 1), the highest importance values at station 2 was 103,37% and station 3 was 95,81%. In the group of seedling the highest INP was Rhizophora apiculata (163.68%) at Station 1, at station 2 on Rhizophora mucronata with INP 120,60%, and the highest INP at station 3, Rhizophora apiculata was 110,95%. Conditions of mangrove ecosystem at Station 1 can be categorized damaged by the criteria rarely. Station 2 and Station 3 in good condition with moderate criteria.Keywords: Mangrove, Sekilak Beach, Batam

Abstract

This research was conducted on October 2016 at Estuary of Rokan River Rokan Hilir Regency Riau Province. This study aimed to find out how big  suspended solid in Estuary of Rokan River. The method used survey and purposive sampling. Results showed the suspended solid on base from 60 mg/l for station 5,6,11 and 520 mg/l for station 4. Showed the suspended solid on surface from 50 mg/l for station 3,6,11 and110 mg/l for station 10. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that total suspended solid present in the Estuary of Rokan River is high. Keywords: Suspended Solid, Estuary of Rokan River, and Station

Abstract

The purpose of this researched was to analize the consistency of organic material and sediment fraction on estuary in dumai river. The research was with purposive sampling on four stutions. The analysis of sediment fraction in estuary in dumai river had been dominated by mud substract. The result mean size wened very fine sand, of consistency organic material is ranging 7,37 - 24,01 mg/l. The result sorting value wered poorly kurtosis value were ektremly leptokurtic, and skewness dominant value were negative. Difference of fine grafain and type of sediment on estuary in Dumai River had effect by physics and chemical factor.Keyward: sediment fraction, sediment statistic parameter and organic material.

Abstract

This research was conducted in June 2013 at Riau River Estuary inTanjungpinang City Riau Islands Province. This research aimed to find out themacrozoobenthos community structure and its relationship to seagrass vegetation.The method on the research was survey method. The existence of macrozoobenthosin this area showed the dynamic symbiosis among seagrass and marine organisms.The results also showed seagrass ecosystem had the high potential to be managed andused by communities and also increasing the fisheries productivity on coastal area.Species composition of macrozoobenthos in the area consisted of 8 species, i.e.Strombus sp, Cerithidea quadrata, Pina bicolor, Anadara sp, Anadara inflata,Atactodea striata, Asteroidea sp and Diadema sitosum. Two species of seagrassvegetation were found in this area, those were Enhalus acoroides, and Halophilaovalis. T-test analysis showed that the average of macrozoobenthos abundance oneach station differed unsignificantly (p>0,05). The regression analysis showed thatrelationship among seagrass vegetation diversity and macrozoobenthos abundancewas at r=0,35.Keywords: Riau River, Macrozoobenthos, Seagrass, Symbiont.

Abstract

This research was conducted in November 2015 to January 2016 in Coastal Panipahan Rokan Hilir Riau Province, aimed to compare the growth rate of blood cockle spat (A. granosa) on the three different part of intertidal zone. The method used in this study is an experimental method by using a completely randomized design (CRD) of the factors with 3 levels of treatment, each treatment using 3 replications. The treatments used in the maintenance of blood clam spat that is treatment IBA (upper intertidal zone), treatment IBT (middle intertidal zone), and treatment IBB (lower intertidal zone). The fence netting used measuring 50 × 50 cm as many 9 units are arranged randomly. Blood cockle spat are stocked as many as 100 individuals / fence netting. The results showed that the average rate of growth of the blood cockle spat indicate that lower intertidal zone to produce a faster growth rate than the middle intertidal zone and upper intertidal zone.Keyword: Growth Rate, Anadara granosa, Intertidal Zone, Panipahan

Abstract

This research was conducted in March-April 2017 at Marine Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine University of Riau. The purpose of this study is to determine the different concentration of detergent (0 ml/L, 1.5 ml/L, 3 ml/L, 4.5 ml/L, 6 ml/L) in different observation time (0, 5, 10, 15, 20) on the growth of heterotrophic bacteria in sea water. Completely randomized design was used in this experimental method. The results showed that bacterial growth of all treated samples decreased on the 5th day of incubation. However, the population began to increase on the 10th day of incubation. The count of maximum bacterial growth was 1.46 x 109 found in the 4.5 ml/L treated detergent, and the lowest growth was 3.73 x 107 in the 1.5 ml/L treated detergent. Statistical analysis (ANOVA) showed that the concentrations in different observation times on the growth of heterotrophic bacteria showed significant effect and the value was (P <0.005).Keywords: heterotrophic bacteria, population growth, rinso, sea water.

Abstract

This study was conducted in June 2013. The study aim was to the determine the diversityof gastropods in the intertidal zone of Cingkuak Island and Pasumpahan Island. Survey methodwas used to collect information related to the purpose of the study. There were 2 stations chosenalong Cingkuak Island and Pasumpahan Island. For each station there were 3 transects, whichhave 5 plot for every transect, were employed. Sample of gastropods were transported to thelaboratory for identification, counting of the individual number, and calculation of the value ofdiversity index, dominance index and equibility index.The results showed that there were 164 individual gastropods at Cingkuak Island and 90individual gastropods at Pasumpahan Island. The gastropods were comprised of 4 orders, 4families and 16 species. The most dominant species founded in Cingkuak Island andPasumpahan Island were Littoraria intermedia and Littorina vespacea. The value of diversityindex at Cingkuak Island was high and at Pasumpahan Island was medium. Value of equabilityindex was medium. Value of dominance index at Cingkuak Island and Pasumpahan Island waslow. The habitat of gastropods still supported and considered safe for macrozoobhenticorganism.Keywords: Diversity, Gastropods, Cingkuak Island, Pasumpahan Island

Abstract

SSC (Sediment Suspended Concentration) is the concentration of suspended sediment. This research was conducted in June 2018 in the Muara Sungai Padang area, Bandar Khalifah District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province. This research aims to describe the distribution of vertical and horizontal SSC suspended sediments and the factors that influence them in Padang river estuary  area, Bandar Khalifah District, North Sumatra Province. The method used in this research is the survey method and determining the location of sampling by purposive sampling. Measurement of water quality parameters is carried out in situ, namely temperature, salinity, pH, depth, current speed, and brightness. The results of the study of the distribution of suspended sediments in the waters of the Padang river can be concluded that the pattern of the distribution of suspended sediments when the tide moves towards the upper reaches of the river while at low tide moves towards the sea, namely the waters of the Malacca Strait which is influenced by currents. the largest suspended sediment concentration at tide to low tide is at the sampling point 1 which is 179 mg / l and recedes to pairs at sampling point 1 which is 121 mg / l.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari - Februari tahun 2017, di Desa PutikKecamatan Palmatak Kabupaten Kepulauan Anambas Provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Tujuanpenelitian ini adalah melihat pola arus dan pasang surut yang ditinjau dari fisikaoseanografi dan geomorfologi pantai, mengetahui pengaruh geomarfologi terhadaparus pantai daerah penelitian dan mendeskripsikan pola arus permukaan dipada saat airsedang naik pasang dan menuju surut. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptifyang bersifat eksploratif, metode purposive sampling yaitu penentuan lokasi untukpengambilan data, metode langrangian Pengukuran arus air. Hasil yang dapat disimpulkandari penelitian ini yaitu analisis bilangan formzahl diketahui bahwa tipe pasangsurut diperairan Desa Putik merupakan tipe pasang surut harian tungggal (diurnal tide)yang berarti dalam satu hari terjadi satu kali pasang dan satu kali surut dalam rentangwaktu 12 jam. Di perairan Desa Putik, pergerakan arus yang terjadi dipengaruhi olehpasang surut. Pola arus yang terjadi mengikuti perubahan pasang surut setiap harinya.Hutan mangrove yang berada dipulau mempengaruhi cepat dan lambat laju arus yangmasuk dan keluar. Kedalaman juga mengambil peran penting dalam pengaruh terhadapkecepatan arus daerah penelitian dimana semakin dangkal perairan maka arus yangmelewatinya semakin lambat, dan arus yang melewati perairan dalam dipengaruhi olehdensitas Berdasarkan analisis data dan Morfologi perairan daerah penelitian memberipengaruh yang sangat besar terhadap pola dan kecepatan arus.
