Abstract

This paper aims to find out the real role of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter book series by J. K. Rowling. This research is also intended to describe Severus Snape's efforts in defeating Lord Voldemort as well as to figure out the characterization and description of the actions taken by Snape; the writer uses a deconstruction analysis proposed by Jacques Derrida. The image of Severus Snape's character and the relationship between the character's image and the forms of deconstruction are identified by the deconstruction analysis. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. This research tried to examine the elements of deconstruction of the character Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series of novels, interpreting the new meanings contained implicitly in the novels. The results of the research showed that Severus Snape is described as a character who is rude, arrogant, and cruel. Through the perspective of deconstruction, it was found that Snape has characteristics that are paradoxical to what appears on the surface. He is a caring, helpful, and brave character. In addition, it was found that nine actions of Severus Snape were intended to protect Harry Potter and to defeat Lord Voldemort. The results of the analysis suggested that Severus Snape has a significant role in moving the story. Through his role in the story, Harry Potter can defeat the antagonist or villain in the Harry Potter Series.

Abstract

Abstract

The working relationship between the Food and Beverage Product (kitchen) and the Food and Beverage Service(restaurant) is a crucial form of collaboration in hotel operations, particularly during breakfast service. This study aims to analyse the forms of interdepartmental collaboration, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and examine the role of each staff member in ensuring the smooth operation of breakfast at Platinum Adisucipto Hotel Yogyakarta. A descriptive qualitative method was employed through in-depth interviews with the Food and Beverage Manager, Executive Chef, Cook, and Waiter/Waitress, complemented by direct observation during breakfast operations. The findings reveal that the success of breakfast service is strongly influenced by effective coordination between Food and Beverage Product and Food and Beverage Service. The inhibiting factors identified include miscommunication and human error, while the supporting factors consist of effective communication and teamwork. Each staff member plays a significant role: the Food and Beverage Manager acts as a strategic coordinator and communication facilitator, the Executive Chef functions as a field supervisor and technical decision-maker, the Cook serves as both a production executor and team solidarity builder, while Waiters/Waitresses are the frontline staff bridging the interaction between guests and the kitchen. The study concludes that a harmonious and synergistic working relationship between Food and Beverage Product and Food and Beverage Service is the key to successful breakfast operations. Strengthening communication systems, work discipline, and teamwork culture is therefore essential to minimise operational barriers and enhance the quality of hotel service delivery.

Abstract

This study examines manifestations of gender inequality and power relations in the film Borderless Fog (2024), nominated for Best Picture at the Indonesian Film Festival. Employing Sara Mills' Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the research analyzes dialogues involving the female protagonist, Sanja Arunika, to reveal how linguistic choices reflect gender-based power relations. Using a qualitative, interpretive approach, it analyzes the film's English-subtitled script to investigate how the female detective protagonist, Sanja, is constructed in relation to dominant patriarchal discourses and gendered power relations. Selected script segments are contextualized and interpreted to uncover the implication stance on gender representation in societal norms. The findings demonstrate that male characters consistently position Sanja as an object through utterances emphasizing her physical appearance, fragility, or external affiliations, thereby diminishing her role and undermining her professional authority. While the film challenges stereotypes by portraying Sanja as competent and resilient, it simultaneously critiques the systemic patriarchal structures embedded in male-dominated professions. The discussion connects these findings to broader feminist discourse, highlighting how media representations can either perpetuate or contest gender inequality. This study contributes to the understanding of gender dynamics in Indonesian cinema, which simultaneously reproduces and subverts gender norms within institutional and cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study investigated digital interest in nature-based accommodation, particularly glamping, by analyzing Google Search data in Indonesia from 2019 to 2025. Glamping, a fusion of “glamorous” and “camping,” has emerged as a growing trend among urban travelers seeking comfort in natural environments. Using a descriptive observational approach, the research utilized Google Trends to assess search volume dynamics, popular queries, regional patterns, and seasonal spikes. The results revealed a steady increase in glamping-related searches, with notable peaks during holidays and weekends, indicating a strong connection between digital interest and domestic travel behavior. Popular destinations such as Bogor, Bandung, and Ciwidey dominated the search queries, while new keywords like “Bobocabin” and “Heha Ocean Glamping” indicated rising consumer preferences. Regional data showed that areas like Bali and Jakarta contributed most to glamping-related search activity. The findings highlight the value of Google Trends as a real-time tool for understanding tourism demand and consumer intent. This research provides valuable insights for tourism stakeholders to anticipate market shifts, optimize promotional strategies, and develop nature-based tourism offerings.
