Abstract

Current technological developments also play a role in the birth of new crimes in the world, call it cybercrime. This study discusses cybercrime: fraud on behalf of Customs within the scope of persuasion communication and mediated communication from perpetrators to their victims and seen through the theory of Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) and Elaboration Likelihood Model, and also saw the campaign "beware of fraud on behalf of Customs" carried out by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DGCE). This research uses a qualitative approach by studying documentation related to fraud on behalf of Customs and interviewing several primary sources involved in handling the case. In addition to looking at the communication strategies implemented by the DGCE, this study will also show the development of communication patterns in the process of deception shown through the phases of impersonal, interpersonal, and hyperpersonal communication. The results of the analysis also showed that persuasion efforts emerged by fraudsters by directing their victims through peripheral routes, resulting in changes in attitude (deceived) and finally give some money to the perpetrator. Furthermore, if the peripheral route is not enough to deceive the victim, the fraudster switches to using the central route to persuade the victim through aspects of motivation, ability, and strong argumentation. This research aims to prevent people from falling victim to fraud. Addressing this issue will require cooperation from all parties, including the government, law enforcement, and the public.

Abstract

The existence of water and culture in Pedawa Village are two interrelated things. The importance of the existence of various water sources for village traditions and rituals becomes a problem when the existence of water sources is not adequately maintained. The problems that arise include the lack of water availability and the hampered implementation of rituals in Pedawa Village. The Kayoman Community is one of the communities that focuses on efforts to conserve water sources in Pedawa Village by conducting environmental communication based on local wisdom. This study aims to determine environmental communication based on local wisdom carried out by the Kayoman Community in overcoming water source problems in Pedawa Village. The method used in this study is qualitative. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, document studies, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that Kayoman carries out four stages in conducting environmental communication, including identifying problems and communication objectives, selecting media and communication channels, developing messages and producing media, and the program and communication evaluation stage. The environmental message emphasized by Kayoman is the importance of water for village traditions and culture. The environmental message is conveyed through various programs designed by Kayoman, including the tengetisasi program, the one-marriage one-tree program, the Kayoman foster program, and the making of short films.

Abstract

The main problem in families in which there are Deaf parents and Hearing children is the problem of communication, both verbally and in sign language. Hearing children with Deaf parents are able to communicate in two ways, either verbally with non-Deaf people or using sign language with Deaf people. Communication between children and Deaf parents is an important problem in their social and emotional development. This study aims to determine the communication problems that arise between children and Deaf parents. The main focus is to explore the obstacles experienced by children in understanding and conveying messages from their parents who have hearing impairments. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Researchers found 127 Scopus articles in a search using Science Direct and with the help of Mendeley and VOSViewer which were then filtered into 18 articles to be analyzed descriptively. The findings show that lack of communication should not be a reason why Deaf parents cannot have access or information about their children. And appreciate that hearing children or Children of Deaf Adults or CODA have different ways of communicating with Deaf parents, the Deaf community and the hearing or non-Deaf community.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of disinformation on social media on adolescents’ mental healthby analyzing the documentary film The Social Dilemma as a case study. A qualitative descriptive approachwas employed, focusing on the interpretation of scenes that reflect adolescents’ psychological dynamics inresponding to disinformation. The findings reveal four major themes: (1) anxiety triggered by the need forsocial validation, (2) social comparison leading to feelings of inferiority, (3) pressure to construct a “perfect”self-image aligned with unrealistic media standards, and (4) emotional instability caused by exposure to falseinformation. These findings align with the Halo Effect theory, which explains how negative perceptions of a single aspect of the self can expand into negative overall self-assessment, thereby reinforcing anxiety anddissatisfaction. From the perspective of Islamic communication, the results highlight the relevance of theprinciple of tabayyun (verification of information) as stated in Qur’an Surah Al-Hujurat: 6, along with thevalues of qana‘ah (contentment), muraqabah (self-awareness before God), and ihsan (striving for excellencewith sincerity) in maintaining adolescents’ psychological balance in the digital era. Theoretically, this researchintegrates social psychology with Islamic communication ethics, while practically, it provides insights fordesigning Islamic-based digital literacy strategies to protect youth mental health from the negative impactsof disinformation.
