Abstract

This study aims to examine improving students' mathematical understanding through Think Talk Write learning strategy. The method is a quasi-experiment with experimental class research design and the pretest-posttest control class. The experimental class implemented the Think Talk Write learning strategy and the control class by direct learning model. The population of this study is a fourth-grader of one elementary school in Bandung. The sample in this research is 50 students, two classes. The instrument used in data collection is a test of the mathematical understanding ability of the description form. The result data were N-gain score analyzed by using independent-test t-test and Mann-Whitney test. From this research, I obtained the conclusion, improving students’ mathematical understanding ability who get learning with Think Talk Write strategy is better than students who gain learning by direct learning.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to produce an audio-visual learning media product that is useful in listening learning for fourth grade elementary school students. And to determine the feasibility of the audio-visual media that the researchers have developed. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method and using the Four-D model research stage (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Validation is carried out by expert validators and practitioner validators. Product trials were carried out in stages, namely stage 1 and stage 2. The results showed that the validation of design experts obtained an assessment with a very valid category. In validation linguists obtained assessment with a very valid category. In the validation of the material experts, they obtained an assessment with a very valid category. And the validation of the material by the practitioner validator obtained an assessment with a very valid category. The students written test in the form of objective questions received an assessment with a very good category. The results of the questionnaire responses from students and teachers obtained an assessment with a very practical category. So, the results of this study indicate that development of audio-visual media in listening learning is very suitable for use for fourth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Education in elementary schools is very close to learning; for example, thematic learning contained in the 2013 curriculum is very close to the implementation of learning in the classroom. This study aims to describe the implementation of thematic learning in class V of elementary school so that by describing this, the teacher knows practical learning. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. Three data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in the study were two homeroom teachers of class V.  This research was conducted in a State Elementary School in Pekanbaru.  Data analysis uses data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the thematic learning process includes 1) student-centred. 2) Provide hands-on experience. 3) subject separators. 4) present a concept of various subjects. 5) is flexible. Based on the research results, the implementation of thematic learning is still rudimentary, and there are still those who have not focused on learning mathematics.   Nevertheless, most of the research indicators are appropriate.

Abstract

The development of technology in the world of education is able to change technology-based education, thus the purpose of this research is to develop WELIA as an application that is able to measure the linguistic intelligence of students in elementary schools. The novelty in the research is designing WELIA (Website Linguistic Intelligence Assessment) which is used to assess or measure the linguistic intelligence of elementary school students using technology. The results showed that the average score of 3 practitioner validators on 11 components showed a figure of 81.81% - 93.18% with a very decent category level. The first practitioner validator gave an assessment with a very feasible category of 11 assessment components, so that a percentage value of 81.81% was obtained for media assessment. Expert validators on 11 components showed a score of 84.09% - 88.63% with a very feasible category level. The first expert validator gave an assessment with a very feasible category of 11 assessment components, so that a percentage value of 84.09% was obtained, it can be concluded that WELIA can be used to assess the linguistic intelligence of elementary school students.

Abstract

Learning to write essays at school is considered unpleasant, tedious and even difficult for students. Students feel lazy to start writing, finding and developing ideas, especially developing creative ideas into a narrative essay. In addition, there are still many students who are less skilled in using writing rules in accordance with EYD (The Perfected Spelling). Therefore, this research aims to to determine the effect of diary media to improve narrative essay writing skills in grade V elementary school students. Type of the research was Pre-experiment and was design with One Group Pretest-Posttest. The subjects consists of 21 students grade V-B SDN 161 Pekanbaru. Hypothesis was tested by t-test. Based on the results obtained, the average student after being treated with learning using diary media (74,21) was higher than before being treated with learning using diary media (61,71), tcount with ttable is tcount > ttable (4,86 > 2,08596) with α=0,05 and dk=20. Based on the data from research result use tcount > ttable than the hypothesis Ha was accepted. It means there is an influence of diary media before and after being given treatment to improve the narrative essay writing skills of class V students at SDN 161 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model on the reading comprehension skills of elementary school students. A quantitative, pre-experimental research design was employed, specifically the One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. A group of fourth-grade students was administered a pretest to assess their baseline reading comprehension. Following this, they received instruction using the CIRC model. After the intervention, a posttest was conducted to measure any changes in performance. The data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests and normalized gain (N-Gain) scores to determine both statistical significance and instructional effectiveness. The t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p 0.05), indicating a statistically significant improvement in reading comprehension after the application of the CIRC model. The students' average score increased markedly from 45.63 on the pretest to 76.68 on the posttest. Additionally, the N-Gain score was 74.34%, placing the model in the "effective" category for improving comprehension. The findings demonstrate that the CIRC model significantly enhances the reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade elementary students. The increase in test scores and high N-Gain percentage support the use of CIRC as an effective instructional strategy in primary education.
