Abstract

ARTEKS : Jurnal Teknik Arsitektur, volume 5, issue 3, December 2020 presents the fifteen on the conception of research results, which defined architecture as an inseparable coin related to "doing" and "being". The implication of the fifteen articles in the ARTEKS : Jurnal Teknik Arsitektur, volume 5 issue 3, December 2020 is that architecture is a relation and not a subject, object, doing, or being.

Abstract

The Catholic Church building always displays symbols and ornaments as an expression of religious (sacred) faith and atmosphere. Symbols in the form of two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects arranged and beautified the church as well as religious significance. Symbols and ornaments are placed inside the church (interior) and outside the church (exterior), function to support the atmosphere of the church visually and help appreciate aesthetic, psychological and religious faith. Regina Caeli Catholic Church in Pantai Indah Kapuk Jakarta is a Catholic church that is characterized by modern architecture and features symbols and ornaments on the interior and exterior of the church. This paper describes the existence of symbols and ornaments -symbols in the church associated with obedience to the principles of modern architecture that underlies the design of the church. The research problem is how the existence of symbolic symbols and ornaments in the Regina Caeli Catholic Church, which are modern-minimalist architecture? The study was carried out by analyzing secondary data (photos and texts) and literature studies, then compared with the basic guidelines of Catholic church architecture and the principles of modern architecture. As a result, Regina Caeli's Catholic Church architecture is a modern architecture with a modern-minimalist expression. The existence of a symbol of the cross marks the existence of a Catholic church visually, the interior ornaments strengthen the uniqueness as a sacred (religious) space. The Regina Caeli Catholic Church has a modern architecture and provides a place for symbolic symbols and ornaments; there is a mixture of modern architecture with church symbolism as a relogious building.

Abstract

Title: Culture of Tectonics Wologai – Ende, a Traditional House Constructed of Art Central Wologai Village, District Detusoko, Ancestral Heritage, Waeo – Ata Lio Under the Foothills of Lepembusu As a counterbalance to globalization in the field of architecture, an in-depth understanding of local architecture had been seen as an opportunity for a region to play an active role in the global era. One way to develop an understanding of local architecture is through the art of construction, or widely known as tectonics. The word architecture itself was known to derive from the word archi, which means master and tekton, which means woodworker (carpenter) or builder. Thus, the study of tectonics was important to understand how architects express their ideas through an integrated architectural - structural system. Unfortunately, profound research into this field has rarely been conducted so far. This study aims to an understanding of architectural tectonics in Wologai, Flores, Nusa Tenggara Timur. As one of the oldest village in Flores, the indigenuous people of Wologai had been known for surviving the pressures of the developing world whilst maintaining their unique culture that were reflected in their vernacular buildings. This study consists of the following steps: Firstly, to record how local builders built their architecture through observation and interviews. Secondly, to develop an understanding about architectural tectonics based on related literature. The last step was to analyse and formulate architectural tectonics of Wologai vernacular architecture.

Abstract

Title: Spatial Planning of Tradisional Architecture as Observed among the Atoni Tribe in the Tamkesi Kampong on Timor Island This research aims to investigate the concept of spatial planning found in the traditional architecture of the Atoni tribe living in the traditional kampong of Tamkesi on Timor Island. The method employed for this research project consists of the following steps: first of all, to record and re-sketch the entire physical state of this kampong in the greatest possible detail. The result of these sketches is subsequently subjected to an anatomical analysis to arrive a classification of the relationship between all of the elements encountered and scrutinized; secondly, to make an analysis by exposing the latter to the principles of identification and orientation. The analysis is based on an elaboration of the phenomenological approach by Norberg-Schulz and the structural approach involving function-form-meaning by Salura. Based on the outcome of this analysis, the local concept serves as the basis for the spatial planning of traditional architecture as observed in the Tamkesi kampong. The conclusion drawn reveals that the relationship between the immediate environment, the site, form, framwork and the natural-cultural cycle in traditional architecture is clearly influenced by the concept of top-down (upper vs. lower) hierarchy as well as the binding element (datum) of the tribal order (hierarchy, the gender code/etiquette, ethnic bonds and traditional customs as well as cultural and spiritual symbols).

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

"City image" refers to the perception of a city, shaped by visual experiences, social interactions, and cultural influences. It includes physical elements like architecture and landscapes, as well as intangible factors that define the city's identity and functionality.Aims: This research project aims to explore the relationship between the tangible and intangible aspects of the image of Kupang's Straat "A" neighborhood.Methodology and Results: The research first examines Kevin Lynch's city image principles. It documents the physical elements of Straat "A" using tissue analysis maps, followed by an analysis of both physical and non-physical elements through perceptual and experiential approaches. Finally, the dominant elements of Kupang's Straat "A" urban image are interpreted. Conclusion and Impact: The research identifies three of the five physical elements of city image—paths, districts, and nodes—along with dominant non-physical elements like collective stories, identity, social activities, and user experiences. These findings enhance city image theory and offer valuable insights for urban design, particularly for architects and stakeholders.

Abstract

Abstract

The fala house is one of the traditional houses of the Abui tribe in Alor which is also known as a warehouse house. This building is ± 16 m high and consists of 4 floors with functions as a residence, barn, and storage area for heirlooms. This building's design and dimensions are also tailored to withstand the frequent high winds and earthquakes in the Alor region. To provide the Alor community as a whole with literature and a reference for creating disaster-resistant dwellings, this study intends to investigate the fala house construction system. An ethnographic design in conjunction with an exploratory description is the methodology employed to examine the Fala House's construction system. One of Takpala Village's thirteen fala homes serves as the research item. Purposive sampling was used to identify the home of the village chief, who served as the resource person, to choose this item. While secondary data was gathered through a review of the literature, primary data was acquired through close inspection and recording of the artifacts as well as technical information on workmanship and local names of fala house construction through interviews. According to research, the Fala house is built using a traditional method in which the main pillar is buried directly in the ground. The attic pillars that rest on the main beam are braced and connected to the building using a tie system. Because fala houses are built with a building method that can withstand shocks from earthquakes and severe winds, they have withstood a lengthy time of disaster adaptation and are still standing today.
