Abstract

Abstract

Peer environment is a protective factor and risk factor for various possible adolescent behavioural problems. This study aimed to identify the role of peer pressure on the emergence of adolescent disruptive behaviour. The research method used is quantitative non-experimentation. A total of 279 participants were subjected to research using multistage random sampling. The study subjects were spread across seven Public and Private High Schools in Jember Regency with details of 203 female students and 76 male students aged 15-17 years. The research instrument used is the NPPI (Negative Peer Pressure Inventory) scale to uncover the role of peer pressure and the SDQ (Strengths Difficulties Questionnaire) to uncover disruptive behavior. The data was then analyzed using simple linear regression techniques and multiple linear. The results showed a positive role in peer pressure on adolescent disruptive behavior (β= 0.221, p<0.05). The two most significant aspects of peer pressure roles that play a role in disruptive behavior are involvement with family (β= 0.198, p< 0.05) and misconduct or deviance (β =0.192, p<0.05). It is thus understood that the higher the role of peer pressure can lead to a greater chance of adolescents bringing up disruptive behaviour.

Abstract

Students’ well-being is often disturbed by external demands, such as academic pressure, family expectations, and social expectations. These demands can impact students’ mental and emotional well-being. This research aims to explore the problems of external demands for students’ psychological well-being. This research used the systematic literature review (SLR) method to investigate the impact of external demands on students’ psychological well-being. Data were collected from articles published between 2018 and 2023 from the Scopus database. Of the 93 articles, 26 articles were obtained after screening. Data mining and analysis were conducted with the help of Publish or Perish, Biblioshiny, and ATLAS.ti. The results show the complexity of external demands, with factors such as internal and external support, job control, social media use, and individual differences in emotion regulation playing essential roles. The long-term impacts of these demands can include increased levels of stress, anxiety, and depression in students. Therefore, it is essential to manage external demands strategically to create a learning environment that supports students’ psychological well-being. This research highlights the need for joint efforts between schools, families, and communities to address external demands on students. Effective interventions are needed to reduce the negative impact of external demands.

This study aims to understand the life journey of COVID-19 survivors, how they can survive in difficult times and what are the underlying things using a phenomenological approach. In conducting qualitative phenomenological research, four processes are passed: phone, phenomenological reduction, imaginative variation, and synthesis of meaning. In analyzing and interpreting the data by bracketing, horizontal exploring, meaning unit to get a structural description, innovative take to get a structural elucidation, and combining it to make a universal meaning and represent the respondent's experience. The selection of respondents using purposive sampling with the number of subjects three new students. The data collection instrument used a tape recorder with in-depth interview data collection techniques. The results of this study state that there are various ways that respondents have done in dealing with the covid-19 pandemic for themselves and their families, there is motivation as encouragement in themselves to be able to recover from the coronavirus, the role of the family as an emotional boost for respondents to achieve recovery, and still the lack of knowledge possessed by the community related to the transmission of the coronavirus and health protocols which resulted in a miss perception of covid survivors
