Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by DiPin media on students' conceptual understanding in the topic of data collection. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design involving two classes at SD Tanwirul Qulub Kudus: class 5A as the experimental group using the PBL model assisted by media, and class 5B as the control group using only the conventional model. The instruments used were pre-test and post-test questions designed to measure students' mathematical conceptual understanding. Data analysis was conducted using five statistical tests: normality test, homogeneity test, ANOVA, Paired Sample t-Test, N-Gain, and Independent Samples t-Test. The results showed that learning with visual aids was more effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding and numerical abilities compared to conventional learning. The test data from classes 5A and 5B were normally distributed (p > 0.05) and had homogeneous variances (p = 0.411), fulfilling the requirements for parametric testing. The ANOVA test showed a significant difference between the two classes (p = 0.000; F = 31.370). In class 5A, the Paired Sample t-Test indicated a significant increase from pre-test to post-test (a 25-point increase; p = 0.000). The N-Gain score in class 5A was also higher (63.79%) compared to class 5B (23.51%). The Independent Samples t-Test confirmed these findings with significant results (p = 0.000), and the average post-test score was higher in class 5A (84.67) compared to 5B (65.67). Thus, learning using visual aids has been proven to be more effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The prevalence of mental health issues among adolescents in Indonesia has significantly increased; however, this rise has not been accompanied by adequate recovery facilities, particularly for this vulnerable age group. Existing mental health recovery facilities predominantly emphasize conventional psychotherapy methods. In contrast, art therapy provides a more engaging and interactive approach by utilizing art as a medium to facilitate the recovery process. Therefore, this study aims to identify the essential facilities required in an art therapy center, particularly in supporting the recovery of mental health disorders among adolescents in Indonesia. The research approach was conducted using an inductive qualitative method, including observation and field surveys at established art therapy facilities. This method, is analyzes data, essentially involving producing an overall summary of the content of the data set. The findings indicate that art therapy is a deeply personal experience for each individual, as it involves expressing emotions. Because of this, the approach should be personalized to each person's unique needs and supported with a variety of art media and appropriate facilities to support a meaningful and effective creative process. Due to the complexity of various methods that can be used in art therapy, further research is needed to explore the relationship between art therapy methods and the design of specialized art therapy spaces.

Abstract

Solid waste management in urban areas has become a pressing environmental and governance issue, particularly in rapidly developing secondary cities such as Tanjungpinang, Indonesia. Despite the existence of regulatory frameworks like Regional Regulation No. 3 of 2015, the city's waste management system remains underdeveloped, marked by inefficient collection services, inadequate infrastructure, and limited public participation. This study aims to examine the stakeholder landscape in Tanjungpinang’s waste governance to identify institutional gaps, coordination challenges, and opportunities for improved collaboration. The research employs a qualitative and interpretive methodology, combining document analysis and stakeholder mapping using Eskerod & Jepsen’s influence-interest matrix and the Friedman and Miles stakeholder salience framework. Findings indicate that the Department of Environment (DLH) holds the highest level of authority but often lacks the urgency and resources needed for effective intervention. Meanwhile, actors with high urgency, such as informal waste workers and local communities, lack legitimacy and power, leading to their exclusion from formal governance processes. The stakeholder network is characterized by low mutuality and fragmented relationships, particularly between state and non-state actors. Waste banks and NGOs operate with limited support despite their significant roles in community outreach and recycling initiatives. The study concludes that sustainable urban waste management in Tanjungpinang requires inclusive governance reforms that build institutional capacity, strengthen stakeholder interdependence, and integrate informal actors into formal waste systems. These findings offer practical insights for enhancing stakeholder engagement and aligning local waste policies with Sustainable Development Goal 11 on sustainable cities and communities.

Abstract

BACKGROUND A high-calorie diet increases the risk of obesity. Accumulation of fat causes inflammation, as seen by the increased ratio of pro- to anti-inflammatory macrophages in a high-calorie diet. The pro-inflammatory shift in macrophage polarization may result in hypoxia, fibrosis, emphysema, and asthma. This study aimed to determine the effect of a high-calorie diet on pro- to anti-inflammatory macrophage ratio through fat accumulation. METHODS This experimental study used in vivo test in 16 male Sprague-Dawley rats aged 10–12 weeks. The rats were divided into high-calorie and normal diet groups for 16 weeks. Obesity in rats was defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of >0.68 g/cm2. Examination of lung fat accumulation was done through oil red O staining, while pro- to anti-inflammatory macrophage ratio was tested through CD11c and CD206 expressions by immunohistochemical method. RESULTS The high-calorie diet group had higher BMI (0.72 [0.02] versus 0.62 [0.03]; p<0.001), lung fat accumulation (32.73 [10.55] versus 0.37 [0.38]; p<0.001), and pro- to anti-inflammatory macrophage ratio (0.83 [0.02] versus 0.24 [0.006]; p<0.001). The higher the fat accumulation, the higher the pro- to anti-inflammatory macrophage ratio (r = 0.933; p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS The ratio of pro- to anti-inflammatory was higher in the high-calorie diet group, indicating polarization of macrophages toward pro-inflammatory macrophages.
