Abstract

Kencur (Kaempferia galanga, L.) rhizome contain ethyl-p-methoxycinnamate (EPMS) which has sunscreen properties. Temu kunci (Boesenbergia pandurata (Roxb) Schlecht) rhizome contains flavonoid and essential oils with radical scavenging properties. The aims of this study were to obtain the optimum physical properties of sunscreen and antioxidant cream and to compare the sun protection factor (SPF) values and antioxidant activity of kencur and temu kunci rhizomes extract before and after formulated. This research used Simplex Latice Design (SLD) model with 2 components of kencur extract and temu kunci extract. Based on the SLD model obtained optimum formula design, then the SPF values and antioxidant activity were studied by UV spectrophotometric method and DPPH method respectively. Based on SLD model obtained optimum formula that containing kencur : temu kunci extract 80%:20% (formula A) and 70%:30% (formula B). The SPF values of kencur extract, formula A and formula B were 4.505, 5.024 and 4.511 respectively. Antioxidant activity showed that the IC50 of formula A, formula B, temu kunci extract, BHT and Vitamin E were 109.15 μg/mL, 95.23 μg/mL, 10.20 μg/mL, 22.33 μg/mL and 8.78 μg/mL respectively. Cream formula A and formula B have optimum physical properties. The SPF value of the optimum formulations were higher than SPF value of kencur extract. Antioxidant activity of that combinations were lower than temu kunci extract, BHT and Vitamin E.

Abstract

Collagen is a significant biomaterial in medical applications because of its unique properties, such as biodegradability and low antigenicity. As a result, collagen has been used in drug delivery systems and tissue engineering. Most commercial collagen is derived from cow skin, pig skin, or chicken waste. These terrestrial animal sources are inappropriate for many religious and ethnic groups, present regulatory and quality control challenges, and might contain contaminants and biological toxins, including BSE (mad cow disease). This review summarizes an overview of recent research conducted from 2014 to 2024 on collagen extraction from fish. Data were retrieved from online publications on the Pubmed database and covered fish collagen, extracts, and characterization. Fish by-products have been shown to be useful for producing collagen that can substitute porcine and bovine sources. Collagen extracted from fish body parts is classified as type 1. Some typical marine collagen characterization methods thats are often used are FTIR and SDSPAGE. Fish by-products have been proven to be valuable to produce collagen which can replace porcine and bovine sources. Fish by-products may be an alternative to the more prevalent collagen extraction methods.

Abstract

Healthy and nutritious food is a basic human necessity. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that our food is healthy, nutritious, and halal according to Islamic law. This community service activity aimed to support sanitation hygiene requirements for obtaining halal certification at the UMKM Pabrik Kerupuk in Linggasari, Kembaran, Purwokerto. The methods used included observation, interviews, training, and evaluation. The results revealed that while the factory had met several requirements, there were areas for improvement in the use of work clothes and gloves, vector control, and the provision of closed waste bins. The education provided raised awareness among owners and employees about the importance of maintaining product cleanliness and safety. By adhering to reasonable standards, the UMKM can enhance product quality, consumer confidence, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Abstract

Penggunaan lebih dari satu macam obat dapat menimbulkan terjadinya interaksi. Pemberian multivitamin dan susu yang mengandung kurkumin, apabila diberikan dengan parasetamol secara bersamaan dimungkinkan dapat menimbulkan interaksi yang dapat berpengaruh terhadap parameter farmakokinetika parasetamol. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian curcuma emulsi dan susu curcuma yang mengandung kurkumin terhadap parameter farmakokinetika parasetamol pada tikus jantan wistar. Jenis metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu jenis eksperimental dengan rancangan penelitian posttest only control group design dan metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah one way anova. Parameter farmakokinetika pada tiap kelompok mengalami perubahan. Nilai Cpmax untuk kelompok I dengan pemberian parasetamol peroral dosis 150 mg/kgBB yaitu 4,129 µg/ml, kelompok II dan III dengan pemberian parasetamol dosis 150 mg/kgBB dan curcuma emulsi dosis 0,9 mg/kgBB dan 1,8 mg/kgBB yaitu 3,904 µg/ml dan 3,894 µg/ml, pada kelompok IV dan V dengan pemberian parasetamol dosis 150 mg/kgBB dan susu curcuma dosis 0,9 mg/kgBB dan 1,35 mg/kgBB yaitu 3,942 µg/ml dan 3,916 µg/ml. Nilai klirens mengalami penurunan, yaitu pada kelompok I 88 ml/menit, pada pemberian curcuma emulsi kelompok II dan III 87 ml/menit dan 84,8 ml/menit, pada kelompok IV dan V dengan pemberian susu curcuma yaitu 87 ml/menit dan 85,2 ml/menit. Penurunan klirens menyebabkan terjadinya peningkatan nilai AUC kelompok II, III, IV dan V. Hasil secara statistika menunjukkan perbedaan yang tidak signifikan (p>0.05).
