Abstract

ABSTRACT Healthcare services encompass activities aimed at fulfilling patient needs and desires of patients or to ensure their satisfaction. Patient satisfaction is an assessment or evaluation after using a selected service that has met or exceeded patient expectations. RSGM Unimus was established as a teacing hospital servings as a center for education, research, and community service in dentistry. Dental professional students carry out their professional education under the authority of the doctor in charge who is on duty at the teaching hospital. This study seeks to assess patient satisfaction with permanent tooth extraction procedures by dental professional students in the oral surgery department of RSGMP Unimus. A quantitative research using analytical cross-sectional design was conducted on 92 respondents undergoing permanent tooth extraction by dental professional students at the Oral Surgery Department of RSGMP Unimus, employing purposive sampling. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire assessing patient satisfaction based on five quality dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Data analysis was carried out using Chi-Square correlation and Fisher's Exact Test. Ethical approval was obtained prior to the study. Findings indicated that most respondents reported being very satisfied with the tangible dimensions (86.82%), reliability (89.67%), responsiveness (89.67%), assurance (88.94%), and empathy (90.49%). Chi-Square test results revealed no significant association between age category and patient satisfaction (p = 0.628, p 0.05) or gender with patient satisfaction (p = 0.208, p 0.05). Fisherer's Exact Test supported these findings, with significance values of 0.737 for age 0.242 for gender (p 0.05 for both). Correlation analysis further confirmed that neither age nor gender had a significant relationship with patient satisfaction. This study concludes that patient satisfaction with tooth extraction procedures by dental professional students in the Oral Surgery Department of RSGMP Unimus is categorized as very satisfied based on tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Additionally, no significant relationship was found between gender and patient satisfaction levels.  Keywords: Patient Satisfaction, Quality Dimension, Dental Students, Tooth Extraction, Rsgm Unimus. Abstract

ABSTRACT Oral health contributes significantly to general body health. The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between oral hygiene knowledge and tooth brushing behavior  with oral hygiene status among students of Pondok Pesantren Al Marhabaniyyah. The research design was observational with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 82 students, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a knowledge questionnaire, observation of tooth brushing behavior, and oral hygiene examination using the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge of oral hygiene and oral hygiene status (p = 0.032; r = -0.237), indicating that higher knowledge was associated with better oral hygiene status. However, no significant relationship was found between tooth brushing behavior and oral hygiene status (p = 0.481; r = -0.079). In conclusion, knowledge plays an important role in influencing oral hygiene, whereas tooth brushing behavior did not show a significant correlation. Keywords: Knowledge, Tooth Brushing Behavior, OHI-S, Oral Hygiene. Abstract

This community service activity aims to conduct early detection of oral health problems through simple preliminary examinations using clinical instruments, while improving students’ knowledge through oral health education as an effort to prevent dental and oral diseases. The program involved 110 students from the Indonesian Schools in Jeddah and Mecca. The activity was implemented using a health empowerment approach, with dental and oral examinations conducted using the Oral Health Surveys: Basic Methods issued by the World Health Organization (WHO). The collected data were analyzed based on frequencies and percentages. The screening results showed a high prevalence of dental caries, with 51.8% of students having a DMF-T score > 0. The 10–12-year age group accounted for the highest proportion of caries cases at 73.6%. The most commonly required treatment recommendation was dental fillings, representing 38.2% of cases. The high prevalence of caries among diaspora students highlights the importance of sustainable early detection programs and oral health education. This intervention is expected to foster good oral hygiene habits from an early age in order to prevent more severe dental diseases in the future.
