Abstract

Brebes Regency, Indonesia, exhibits significant economic growth but also the highest poverty rate in Pekalongan Residency, indicating uneven development. This study identifies local economic potential and prioritizes infrastructure needs for sustainable economic growth in rapidly developing small towns within Brebes Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and supplemented by secondary data from relevant Local Government Agencies (OPDs), providing insights on existing infrastructure, potential economic activities, and necessary facilities for local development. The analysis utilized qualitative descriptive methods, regression to assess economic growth trends, and Klassen's typology to classify economic activities. Findings indicate significant opportunities in key sectors such as agriculture and fisheries, highlighting the urgent need for targeted infrastructure investments, including rice mills, fish hatcheries, and vocational training centers, to bolster these sectors. The study concludes that strategic infrastructure development, informed by both primary and secondary data sources, is essential for maximizing economic potential and fostering sustainable growth in Brebes Regency's small towns. This research supports informed policy decisions regarding resource allocation and infrastructure planning, contributing to equitable development and enhanced economic resilience in the region.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how employee performance at the Brebes Regency Regional Revenue Agency (BAPENDA) is affected by preventive discipline, the internal work environment, and intrinsic motivation. The main issues underlying this study are the decrease in employee performance scores from 2023 to 2024, as well as the high level of employee tardiness during the period from January to May 2025. The study adopted a quantitative research methodology, focusing on all 48 staff members working at BAPENDA in Brebes Regency. A census sampling approach (also known as saturated sampling) was implemented, meaning every individual from the entire group was considered a participant in the sample. Questionnaires served as the tool to gather data, which was then analyzed through multiple linear regression techniques using specialized statistical computer programs. The findings revealed a noteworthy positive influence of Preventive Discipline on how well employees performed, demonstrated by a regression coefficient of 0.347 and a significance level recorded at 0.000. The study also indicated that the Internal Work Environment had a substantial positive impact on employee performance, evidenced by a significance level of 0.000. Likewise, Intrinsic Motivation was seen to positively and significantly affect how well employees did their jobs. Taken together, the combined impact of these three aspects significantly shaped employee performance, showing a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.950. This suggests that the model explains 95% of the changes in performance, while the other 5% is attributed to elements not explored within this research.

Abstract

Introduction: The advancement of education in the digital era requires teachers to adapt to technology-based work systems. Teacher performance, which is central to successful learning, depends not only on mastery of subject matter and pedagogical skills, but also on digital implementation in work systems, digital skills, intrinsic motivation, and work discipline. Optimal teacher performance directly impacts the quality of education, as reflected in the 2025 Tegal City Education Report Card, which still shows gaps in literacy, numeracy, school safety, and diversity indicators compared to national targets. Methods: This study employed the Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach using primary data from 30 participants. Validity and reliability testing confirmed all indicators were valid and reliable, while descriptive analysis showed all variables in the high category with an average index of 76–77%. The R-square values of 0.783 for satisfaction and 0.808 for loyalty, along with a Q-square of 0.958, indicate strong predictive relevance. Results: Findings reveal that digital implementation, digital skills, and intrinsic motivation positively influence teacher discipline, which in turn significantly enhances teacher performance. Discipline acts as a mediating variable, strengthening the relationship between these factors and performance. Conclusion: The integration of digital work systems, digital competence, motivation, and discipline forms a sustainable foundation for improving teacher performance, offering practical implications for policymakers and schools to design training and development programs aligned with educational transformation.
