Abstract

Abstract: Early detection and prevention are important indicators in maintaining bone mass. Age and sex are unmodifiable factors that contribute towards a reduction of bone mass. Preventive measures include consuming nutritions such as calcium and vitamin D, as well as physical activities like aerobic exercises inter alia step up exercise. This study was aimed to determine the effect of step up exercise on bone mass of young adult females. This was an experimental and analytical study with a one group pre and post test design. Respondents were 25 young adult females enrolleded in batch 2019 of the Nursing Program of Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University. Step up exercise was conducted in a period of 6 weeks. Bone mass was measured using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) before and after a 6-week step up exercise. The results showed the average bone mass of pre step up exercise was 1.85 kg and of the 6-week step up exercise was 1.92 kg. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test statistical analysis of bone mass before and after the step up exercise obtained a p-value of 0,.00 (p<0.05 with a 95% Confidence Interval). In conclusion, there was a difference of bone mass before and after the 6-week step up exercise which meant that step up exercise could increase bone mass in young adult females.Keywords: step up exercise, bone mass Abstrak: Deteksi dini dan pencegahan merupakan indikator penting dalam mempertahankan massa tulang. Beberapa faktor yang tidak dapat dimodifikasi seperti usia dan jenis kelamin dapat menjadi sumber penurunan massa tulang. Upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan ialah dengan mencukupi asupan nutrisi seperti kalsium dan vitamin D dan aktivitas fisik berupa olahraga aerobik, antara lain step up. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh olahraga step up terhadap massa tulang pada wanita dewasa muda. Jenis penelitian ialah analitik eksperimental dengan one group pre and post test design. Responden penelitian ialah 25 mahasiswa program studi Ilmu Keperawatan Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sam Ratu-langi angkatan 2019. Olahraga step up dilakukan selama 6 minggu. Massa tulang diukur menggunakan bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) sebelum dan sesudah 6 minggu olahraga step up.. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan rerata massa tulang sebelum olahraga step up 1,85 kg dan rerata massa tulang sesudah olahraga step up selama 6 minggu 1,92 kg. Uji statistik Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test terhadap massa tulang sebelum dan sesudah olahraga step up memperoleh nilai p=0,000 (p<0,05 untuk Confidence Interval 95%). Simpulan pene-litian ini ialah terdapat perbedaan massa tulang sebelum dan sesudah olahraga step up selama 6 minggu, yang berarti olahraga step up dapat meningkatkan massa tulang pada wanita dewasa muda.Kata kunci: olahraga step up, massa tulang

Abstract

Abstract: Physics in sport is important to know, how to do, limits and how should we exercise with a good way, in order to avoid disturbances in the body. A disorder that occurs normally in the form of muscle pain, joint pain, dizziness and others. Exercise techniques included in the basic lessons in physics, that must be understood by all the people, because the exercise should be a part of life. The aim of this study was to determine whether the effect of running to blood sugar. The design of this research is analytic cross sectional or it is only done once in a certain time. Field research locations located at KONI Ahmad Yani street Manado in North Sulawesi. Samples of the research is determined by simple random sampling that totaling 30 people who are young and who met the inclusion criteria, where the cardio exercise conducted and executed in turn, so the calculation is not in a hurry and with maximum results, the measurement of blood sugar is done by tools name autocheck that has proven and the data is analyzed using the wilcoxon test. The results showed that the value of p = 0.001, which means the value is < 0.05. From the results of the research can be concluded that there is a significant influence due to exercise run on blood sugar in normal men. It is recommended that should be a further studying. Conclusion: Still necessary to do further studying like insulin level to know the influence of exercise.Keywords: blood sugar, exerciseAbstrak: Ilmu Fisika dalam berolahraga sangatlah penting untuk mengetahui cara, batasan-batasan dan bagaimana seharusnya kita berolahraga yang baik, agar terhindar dari gangguan didalam tubuh. Gangguan yang terjadi biasanya berupa nyeri otot, nyeri dipersendian, pusing dan lainnya. Teknik berolahraga termasuk di dalam pelajaran dasar dalam ilmu fisika yang harus di pahami dengan baik oleh semua orang, karena berolahraga sudah seharusnya menjadi bagian dalam hidup. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah adanya pengaruh dari berlari terhadap gula darah. Rancangan dari penelitian ini yaitu analitik secara potong lintang atau hanya dilakukan sekali dalam waktu tertentu. Lokasi penelitian bertempat di lapangan KONI jalan Ahmad Yani Manado Sulawesi Utara. Sampel dari penelitian ditentukan secara simple random sampling yang berjumlah 30 orang yang masih muda dan memenuhi kriteria inklusi, dimana olahraga berlari yang dilakukan, dilaksanakan secara bergantian agar penghitungan tidak terburu-buru dan hasilnya maksimal. Pengukuran gula darah dilakukan dengan alat autocheck yang sudah terbukti dan data dianalisis dengan wilcoxon test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa nilai p = 0,001 yang artinya nilai tersebut < 0,05. Dari hasil penelitain ini dapat di simpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang bermakna akibat aktivitas fisik berlari terhadap gula darah pada pria normal. Simpulan: Masih diperlukan pembelajaran lanjutan seperti tingkat insulin untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari latihan fisik.Kata kunci: gula darah, latihan fisik

Abstract

Abstract: Cigarette smoking has many negative impacts to human body inter alia declined oxygen saturation due to binding of CO to Hb. Aside from smoking, declined barometric pressure on higher surface can also decrease the oxygen saturation. This study was aimed to understand the comparison of oxygen saturation between smokers and non-smokers in highland of Tomohon and lowland of Manado. This was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. There were 60 subjects, smokers and non-smokers, from highland and lowland. The results showed that there was a significant difference in mean oxygen saturation between smokers of highland and of lowland (P=0.002) but there was no significant difference in mean oxygen saturation between non-smokers of highland and of lowland (P=0.0255). There was a significant difference in mean oxygen saturation between smokers of highland and non-smokers of lowland (P=0.001) but there was no significant difference in mean oxygen saturation between non-smokers of highland and smokers of lowland (P=0.424). There was a significant difference in mean oxygen saturation between smokers and non-smokers of highland (P=0.010) but there was no significant difference in oxygen saturation between smokers of highland and non-smokers of lowland (P=0.714). Conclusion: There were significant differences in oxygen saturation between smokers of highland and of lowland; smokers of highland and non-smokers of lowland; as well as smokers and non-smokers of highland. On the other hand, there were no significant differences in oxygen saturation between non-smokers of highland and of lowland; non-smokers of highland and smokers of lowland; as well as smokers and non-smokers of lowland.Keywords: oxygen saturation, smokers, non-smokers, highland, lowland Abstrak: Rokok memiliki dampak buruk pada kesehatan manusia, salah satunya ialah menurunnya saturasi oksigen akibat ikatan yang terjadi antara CO dengan Hb. Selain merokok, penurunan tekanan barometrik pada ketinggian juga dapat menurunkan kadar saturasi oksigen dalam darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan saturasi oksigen pada perokok dan bukan perokok di dataran tinggi Tomohon dan di dataran rendah Manado. Abstract

Abstract: As a connective tissue, muscle’s main task is contraction to move body parts and substances in the body. Sarcopenia or decreased muscle mass and strength results in loss of muscle function. According to the Riskesdas 2018, the proportion of lack of physical activity in the Indonesian population has increased from 26.1% in 2013 to 33.5% in 2018. Physical activity such as light exercise with high intensity and short duration can increase muscle size. Sit-up exercise could strengthen abdominal muscles and increase lean muscle mass. This study was aimed to determine the effect of sit-up exercise on muscle mass. This was a literature review study. There were three databases used in this study, as follows: Pubmed, ClinicalKey, and Google Scholar. The keywords were muscle mass and sit-up. Four literatures that fulfilled the criteria showed that sit up exercise could give effect to muscle mass through several factors such as correct sit-up procedure, movement variation, and the exact duration of sit-up exercise according to ability. In conclusion, sit-up exercise could give effect to muscle mass.Keywords: sit-up exercise, muscle mass Abstrak: Otot adalah jaringan konektif dalam tubuh yang memiliki tugas utama yaitu kontraksi. Kontraksi otot berfungsi untuk menggerakkan bagian-bagian tubuh dan substansi dalam tubuh. Sarkopenia atau berkurangnya massa dan kekuatan otot mengakibatkan hilangnya fungsi otot. Menurut hasil Riskesdas tahun 2018, proporsi kurangnya aktivitas fisik pada penduduk Indonesia mengalami peningkatan dari 26.1% pada tahun 2013 menjadi 33.5% pada tahun 2018 Aktivitas fisik seperti olahraga ringan dengan intensitas tinggi dan durasi yang singkat dapat meningkatkan ukuran otot. Latihan sit-up merupakan salah satu olahraga untuk latihan kekuatan otot perut dan meningkatkan massa otot tanpa lemak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan sit-up terhadap massa otot. Jenis penelitian ialah literature review. Tiga database yang dipergunakan, yaitu: Pubmed, ClinicalKey, and Google Cendekia dengan kata kunci muscle mass dan sit-up. Terdapat empat literatur yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian. Hasil kajian keempat literatur menyatakan adanya pengaruh latihan sit-up terhadap massa otot melalui beberapa faktor yaitu prosedur sit-up yang benar, variasi gerakan, dan durasi sit-up yang tepat sesuai kemampuan. Simpulan penelitian ini ialah terdapat pengaruh latihan sit-up terhadap massa otot.Kata kunci: latihan sit-up, massa otot

Abstract

Abstract: The human body consists of fat mass and fat-free mass. Most people assume that the higher the body mass index value, the higher the fat level is in a person's body. Sit-ups are movements that rely on the hips and buttocks with the knees raised and performed repeatedly. This study aims to determine whether sit-up exercise has effects on body fat percentage. This research was conducted in the form of a literature review, which is explaining and discussing the topic by taking the material from various literatures such as books, journals, papers and so on. The results of the research of Todingan et al and Meriawati  et al on the fat percentage with the sit-up method, a significant decrease in the body fat percentage was found. Whereas in a research conducted by Tendean et al on exercise with Zumba, there was a decrease in the fat percentage from 39.300% to 39.031%. Similar to what Santika did to subjects with jogging and walking exercises, there was a decrease in the fat percentage by 3.8% in jogging exercise and 0.6% in walking exercise. In conclusion, doing sit-ups besides building muscles in the abdomen, doing sit-ups can also reduce the diameter of fat in the abdomen.Key Words: sit-up training, body fat percentage.  Abstrak: Tubuh manusia terdiri dari massa lemak dan massa bebas lemak. Sebagian besar orang berasumsi semakin tinggi nilai indeks massa tubuh semakin banyak kadar lemak di dalam tubuh seseorang. Sit-up adalah gerakan yang bertumpu pada pinggul dan bokong dengan lutut yang diangkat ke arah atas dan dilakukan secara berulang-ulang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah memiliki pengaruh latihan sit-up terhadap persentase lemak tubuh. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk tinjauan pustaka yaitu memaparkan dan membahasnya dengan mengambil bahan dari berbagai kepustakaan seperti buku, jurnal, makalah dan sebagainya. Dari hasil penelitian todingan dkk dan meriawati dkk terhadap presentase lemak dengan metode sit-up, didapatkan penurunan presentase lemak tubuh yang cukup signifikan. Sedangkan pada penelitian yang dilakukan tendean dkk pada latihan dengan zumba, terdapat penurunan presentase lemak dari 39,300% ke 39,031%. Sama hal dengan yang dilakukan santika pada subjek dengan latihan jogging dan berjalan, terdapat penurunan persentase lemak sebanyak 3,8% pada latihan jogging dan 0,6% pada latihan berjalan Sebagai simpulan, melakukan latihan sit-up selain membentuk otot pada bagian perut, melakukan sit-up juga dapat mengurangi diameter lemak pada bagian perut.Kata Kunci: latihan sit-up, persentase lemak tubuh

Abstract

Abstract: This study was aimed to determine the differences in the effects of audio alpha and theta waves on brain concentration power among youths of GMIM Tabita Sarongsong I Airmadidi II. This was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. Samples were 30 youths obtained by using the systematic sampling technique. The brain concentration power was measured by the results of solving modified mathematical problems. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis, the normality test of Kolmogrov-Smirov, the homogeneity test was sought by the Levene test, followed by t-test to obtain the difference in the effects of audio alpha and theta waves on the brain concentration power. The results showed the average test result, as follows: of alpha wave exposure was 8.80 while of theta wave exposure was 8.53. The t-test analysis showed a p-valued of 0.000 <0.05, this meant that there was a significant difference between the effects of audio alpha and theta waves on the brain concentration power. In conclusion, alpha and theta wave therapy could influence the brain concentration power among youths of GMIM Tabita Sarongsong I Airmadidi II, however, theta wave was more effective than alpha wave.Keywords: audio wave therapy, brain concentration powerAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh audio gelombang alpha dan gelombang theta terhadap daya konsentrasi otak pada Pemuda GMIM Tabita Sarongsong I Airmadidi II. Jenis penelitian ialah kuantitatif dengan desain potong lintang. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling sistematis dengan jumlah sampel 30 orang. Daya konsentrasi otak diukur dengan hasil pengerjaan masalah matematika yang dimodifikasi. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan analisis deskriptif, uji normalitas Kolmogrov-Smirnov, uji homogenitas Levene, dilanjutkan uji-t untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh audio gelombang alpha dan gelombang theta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata hasil ujian dengan paparan gelombang alpha sebesar 8,80 sedangkan hasil ujian dengan paparan gelombang theta sebesar 8,53. Hasil analisis uji-t menunjukkan nilai p=0,000 <0,05. Simpulan penelitian ini ialah terapi audio gelombang alpha dan theta dapat memengaruhi daya konsentrasi otak pada Pemuda GMIM Tabita Sarongsong I Airmadidi II namun gelombang theta lebih berpengaruh daripada gelombang alpha.Kata kunci: terapi audio gelombang, daya konsentrasi otak

Abstract

Abstract: Body temperature is defined as one of the vital signs that indicates the health status of a person. Compared with other primates, man has a greater ability to tolerate hot temperatures due to his many sweat glands, and that his skin is covered mostly by fine hair. In our bodies, heat energy is produced by muscles (mostly), sweat glands, fats, bones, connective tissues, and nerves. Heat energy is distributed to the whole body by blood circulation, but the temperatures are not the same in all parts of the body. There is a difference (around 40C) between core and surface body temperatures. The thermoregulator system has to obtain two suitable gradients: 1) between core and surface body temperatures, and 2) between surface and ambient temperatures. The gradient between core and surface body temperatures is the most important one to maintain optimum body function. Understanding from physics the aspect of body temperature and its influence on homeostatis mechanism, gives some valuable contribution to applied clinical sciences. Key words: core temperature, skin temperature, energy.     Abstrak: Suhu tubuh didefinisikan sebagai salah satu tanda vital yang menggambarkan status kesehatan seseorang. Dibandingkan dengan primata lainnya, manusia mempunyai kemampuan yang lebih besar untuk mentolerer suhu tinggi oleh karena banyaknya kelenjar keringat, dan kulitnya hanya ditumbuhi oleh rambut halus. Di dalam tubuh energi panas dihasilkan oleh jaringan aktif terutama dalam otot, kemudian juga dalam alat keringat, lemak, tulang, jaringan ikat, serta saraf. Energi panas yang dihasilkan didistribusikan ke seluruh tubuh melalui sirkulasi darah, namun suhu bagian-bagian tubuh tidak merata. Terdapat perbedaan yang cukup besar (sekitar 4°C) antara suhu inti dan suhu permukaan tubuh.6,7 Sistem termo-regulator tubuh harus dapat mencapai dua gradien suhu yang sesuai, yaitu: 1) antara suhu inti dengan suhu per-mukaan, 2) antara suhu permukaan dengan suhu lingkungan. Dari keduanya, gradien suhu inti dengan suhu permukaan adalah yang terpenting untuk kelangsungan fungsi tubuh yang optimal. Pemahaman tentang besaran suhu dan pengaruhnya terhadap mekanisme homeostatis tubuh melalui pendekatan hukum-hukum fisika setidaknya memberi kontribusi yang berarti pada bidang ilmu klinis terapan. Abstract

Academic stress has become a significant issue among students worldwide, with a high prevalence rate, particularly before exams. According to the Global Burden of Disease Study (2020), mental disorders, including stress, affect 1 in 4 people globally. In Southeast Asia, around 45% of students experience significant levels of stress, while in Indonesia, the prevalence ranges from 36.7% to 71.6%. This academic stress can impact academic performance, reduce concentration, cognitive function, and memory. Female students, in particular, are more vulnerable to academic stress due to hormonal changes that affect emotional stability. Although various non-pharmacological approaches, such as mindfulness and exercise, have proven effective, both require a significant time commitment. As an alternative, exposure to alpha wave audio has emerged as an interesting option, as it can help regulate emotions and reduce stress levels. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of exposure to alpha wave audio on emotional transformation before module exams in female students of the 2022 cohort at the Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University. This study uses an quasi experimental research design with a one-group pre-test post-test design, comparing measurements before and after the intervention. The data is then analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon test. A comparison of emotional changes before and after listening to alpha wave audio was measured in 100 subjects in the intervention group. The results showed significant changes in both positive and negative emotions, with a significance value of 0.028 (p<0.05). This study concluded that there is an effect of alpha wave audio exposure on emotional transformation before the module exam.

Abstract

Weight training have become a sports of choice among people to improve physical fitness and strength. Muscle endurance is named as one of the factors that may effect weight training performance and fitness development. Isotonic drinks were formulated to have similar osmolality as the fluids in human body (275-330 mOsm/L) to help the nutrients to be absorbed in a small amount of time. Isotonik drinks may potentially improve muscle endurance with its carbohydrates and electrolytes content to replace the energy and electrolytes loss during intense weight training. This study aim to understand the effect of isotonic drinks consumption on muscle endurance during weight training. This was an experimental study using pre-test and post-test with control group design to analyze the difference of muscle endurance before and after isotonic drinks consumption during weight training. The data was analyzed using t-paired test. The result showed that there is a significant improvement in muscle endurance numbers upon group that was given isotonic drinks with value of significancy < 0,001 (p < 0,05). This study concludes that there there is an effect of isotonic drinks consumption on muscle endurance during weight training.

Abstract

Introduction: Low back pain is one of the health problems that is often experienced by workers, especially in transport workers who often do heavy lifting. According to WHO, low back pain occurs in 2% to 5% of employees in developed countries every year and causes 15% of work absenteeism, especially in the steel industry and trade sectors. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between weight lifting position and low back pain complaints based on the NIOSH Lifting Equation in transport workers at Kalimas Port Manado. Methods: The study was conducted with observational analytic research using cross sectional design. Then analysed using IBM SPSS software with spearman statistical test. Results: The results showed that most workers experienced low back pain with varying intensity. A significance value of 0.044 (p<0.05) was obtained. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the position of lifting the load with complaints of low back pain based on the NIOSH Lifting Equation in transport workers at Kalimas Port Manado
