Abstract

Penelitian modifikasi dan sintesis senyawa kimia untuk tujuan antibakteri terus berkembang, diantaranya adalah kajian hubungan antara struktur senyawa dengan aktivitas antibakteri. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui kajian reaksi dua senyawa yaitu sitronelal dan L-tirosinaa yang ada hubungannya antara struktur senyawa dan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Reaksi tersebut menggunakan metode schiff base dengan cara merefluks campuran dengan katalis KOH pada suhu 600C selama 8 jam. Hasil reaksi dikarakterisasi dengan KLT dan Spekrofotometri IR. Senyawa hasil sintesis berbentuk padatan amorf berwarna kuning dengan berat 0,061 gram beserta titik leleh 265-269oC. Hasil pengujian antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus menggunakan metode dilusi pada konsentrasi 1200 µg/mL. Sifat antibakteri hasil reaksi mengindikasikan masih adanya hubungan struktur senyawa dengan aktivitas yang lemah.Kata kunci : Sitronelal, L-tirosina, Aktivitas antibakteri, Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak bunga tembelekan (Lantana camara Linn.) dari beberapa tingkat kepolaran pelarut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui berapa daya hambat ekstrak bunga tembelekan terhadap bakteri gram positif (Streptococcus mutans) dan bakteri gram negatif (Vibrio cholerae) berdasarkan tingkat kepolaran pelarut. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode maserasi dengan 3 tingkat polaritas pelarut yang dimulai dari pelarut non polar (n-heksan), diikuti dengan pelarut semipolar (etil asetat) dan pelarut polar (etanol). Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan uji metode sumur difusi, dan parameter yang diamati adalah diameter daya hambat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat memberikan daya hambat tertinggi 17.33 mm pada bakteri gram negatif (Vibrio cholera) dan ektrak etanol 13,2 mm pada bakteri gram positif (Streptococcus mutans).Kata kunci: Ekstak bunga tembelekan, Daya hambat, Antibakteri.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan uji aktivitas antibakteri polieugenol dengan penambahan ekstrak daun pala terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Polieugenol disintesis melalui metode polimerisasi kationik menggunakan katalis H2SO4-CH3COOH dengan perbandingan 4 : 1. Polieugenol yang dihasilkan memiliki berat molekul sebesar 2.18 x 107 g/mol, berbentuk padat dan berwarna coklat. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri campuran polieugenol dan ekstrak daun pala menggunakan metode difusi sumur. Konsentrasi campuran polieugenol dan ekstrak daun pala divariasikan: 1% 2% 3% 4% dan 5% (b/v). hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa campuran polieugenol dan ekstrak daun pala mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus pada konsentrasi 1% 2% 3% 4% dan 5% berturut-turut sebesar 15,06 mm, 16,93 mm, 18,51 mm, 19,69 mm, dan 20,99 mm. sedangkan pada  Escherichia coli nilai daya hambat yang dihasilkan berturut-turut sebesar 17,5mm, 18,22 mm, 18,90 mm, 19,05 mm dan 19,45 mm. nilai daya hambat yang dihasilkan polieugenol pada Staphylococcus aureus setelah penambahan ekstrak daun pala mengalami penurunan, sedangkan pada Escherichia coli terjadi peningkatan nilai daya hambat yang tidak signifikan.Kata Kunci : Polieugenol, Ekstrak Daun Pala, Antibakteri

Abstract

Gembili bulbs (Dioscorea esculenta L.) have a fairly high carbohydrate content, so they can potentially be a new source of glucomannan compounds. This study aims to determine the yield and glucomannan characteristics of Gembili bulbs at different extraction times and temperatures. Glucomannan was obtained by extraction with water at temperatures of 45, 60, 75, 90, and 105oC for 45, 60, 75, 90, and 105 minutes, and precipitated with isopropyl alcohol. The results showed that the highest yield was obtained at the extraction time of 90 minutes and a temperature of 105oC of 53.09%. The glucomannan of Gembili bulb has a molecular weight of 1,865 x 104 g/mol with ash and water content values of 0.866% and 10.45%, respectively. The results of identification of functional groups with an FTIR spectrophotometer showed that there was a functional group stretching vibration of glucomannan compounds, including the –OH group at a wavenumber of 3431 cm-1 and -C-O-C (glycosidic bond) at a wavenumber of 1020.34 cm-1 and bending vibration of -CH functional groups on wavenumber of 850.61 cm-1.

Abstract

Tests on the inhibition extract of n-hexane fraction, extract of chloroform fraction and extract of ethyl acetate fraction of frangipani flower (Plumeria alba) on Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi has been done. This study aims to determine the activity of frangipani flower extract on the growth of S. aureus and S. typhi bacteria. Frangipani flowers was macerated using methanol solvents. The obtained methanol extract was partitioned with n-hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate solvents, respectively. The three extracts were tested for antibacterial activity at a concentration of 10% using the diffusion well method. The test results showed that the n-hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions showed an inhibition zone of 9.77 mm, 20.89 mm and 19.44 against S. aureus whereas S. typhi showed an inhibition zone of 15.86 mm, 27.69 mm and 21.74 mm. Abstract

Research has been carried out on the nutritional content of dried noodles substituted with coconut pulp. This study aims to determine the highest total protein content, highest crude fiber content and the highest water content and organoleptic quality of dried noodles substituted with coconut pulp. Dry noodles are made from wheat flour and coconut pulp as the main ingredients. The material ratio is varied to 90:10; 80:20; 70:30 and without the addition of coconut pulp flour. Dry noodles without the addition of coconut pulp flour produced the highest total protein content of 18.57%(b/b) and at the ratio of 70:30 the highest crude fiber was 17.55% (w/w) and the highest water content was 2.63% (w/w). Based on the quality of organoleptic dry noodles the most preferred is at the ratio of 90:10. Abstract

Extract of super red dragon fruit peel has an antioxidant activity that can prevent free radicals from outside and its activity can be maintained by the coating of super red dragon fruit peel extract with maltodextrin The coating efficiency of super red dragon fruit peel extract with maltodextrin can be controlled with the speed of stirring during microencapsulation experiment. In order to obtain the highest microencapsulation efficiency and compare the antioxidant activity of super red dragon fruit peel extract before and after microencapsulation experiment. The study of coating efficiency has been done with microencapsulation that was carried out using the freeze-drying technique. During the microencapsulation of super red dragon fruit peel extract with freeze-drying technique, stirring speed in the microencapsulation process was 600 rpm, 800 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1200 rpm, and 1400 rpm respectively. From the microencapsulation process of super red dragon fruit peel extract coated with maltodextrin, it was obtained the highest microencapsulation efficiency at stirring speed of 800 rpm, which was 66.85% and had a particle size of 14.24 µm. It can be concluded that the antioxidant activity before and after encapsulation included a very weak category with IC50 values of 205.42 ppm for extracts and 246.32 ppm for microcapsules. Abstract

Research on adsorption of Pb and Cu metals from used lubricants has been carried out using cellulose acetate-chitosan blending which aims to determine the best ratio and pH between cellulose acetate and chitosan which can adsorb metal Pb and Cu from used lubricants. Cellulose acetate was synthesized through the acetylation method using cellulose extracted from palm fiber coir. The obtained cellulose acetate is brown fine powder with a yield of 62% and has a water content of 20%. Cellulose acetate was characterized using FT-IR while adsorption of Pb and Cu metals from used lubricants using AAS. The results of FT-IR analysis showed the formation of cellulose acetate with an absorption band of 1637.56 cm-1 which proved the presence of carbonyl groups (C = O). The AAS results showed that the best ratio and pH to absorb Pb and Cu metals in used lubricants is 3:1 with pH 6. Keywords: palm oil coir, acetate cellulose, chitosan, used lubricants

Abstract

Utilizing of lycopene extract in VCO has serve as antioxidant agent that protected VCO from oxidation process during storage. Belnding of VCO and tomato lycopene extract has been done that purpose to determine changes in peroxide number in the mixture of VCO-lycopene extract tomatoes based on comparison of ratios and length of storage. Peroxide contents from the mixture of tomato extract with VCO were determined using a spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 500 nm. The results showed that the best results were obtained at a ratio of 40: 3 (v/w) with peroxide numbers 0.08 meq O2/ kg, 1.38 meq O2/ kg, 1.84 meq O2/ kg, 3.21 meq O2/ kg, 3.46 meq O2/ kg and 3.83 meq O2/ kg respectively. Peroxide numbers increased with increasing storage time, the highest increase occurred at week 3 at a ratio of 40: 1 (v/w) which was equal to 9.62 meq O2/ kg. The addition of lycopene was better at reducing the VCO oxidation process than without the addition of lycopene. Keywords: peroxide value, VCO, lycopene, duration of storage, ratio comparison

Abstract

Research on the antioxidant lycopene of tomato fruit (Solanum lycopersicum L.) blended in frying fat from catfish (Clarias sp) oil has been done. The purpose of this research is to determine the antioxidant activity of tomato lycopene before and after being grounded into frying fat and determine the quality of frying fat after being grounded with tomato lycopene. The antioxidant activity of tomato lycopene is determined by the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Analysis of frying fat quality includes determination of pH, determination of FFA (free fatty acid) levels, determination of total fat content, measurement of water content, peroxide number and organoleptic observation. Antioxidant activity of tomato lycopen was very high, namely with inhibition value of 89.79%; 90.34%; 91.49% and 92.10%. Frying fat analysis showed high antioxidant activity of lycopene tomatoes with 50.67% inhibition; 51.63%; 51.39% and 51.23%. The results of the analysis of the quality of frying fat are nearly same with SNI quality standards, except for peroxide numbers. Keywords: tomato, lycopene, antioxidants, frying fat, catfish, DPPH
