Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Desa Suka Makmur, Kecamatan Sukaraja, Kabupaten Seluma, Provinsi Bengkulu, mengungkap keberadaan lapisan akuifer yang potensial. Akuifer di desa ini terletak pada kedalaman relatif dangkal karena berada di dataran rendah dekat pesisir. Pembuatan sumur bor dapat dilakukan pada titik antara 240 m hingga 480 m dari titik awal pengukuran dengan kedalaman sekitar 75 m. Tujuan dilaksanakan dan dipilihnya des aini karena sawah tadah hujan yang terdapat di desa ini cukup luas dan merupakan salah satu desa yang menjadi lumbung pertanian utamanya persawahan. Pada saat terjadi kemarau Panjang biasanya areal sawah yang terdapat di des aini sering gagal panen dikarenakan kekurangan akan air yang berasal dari air hujan. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut khususnya permasalahan akan air untuk mengairi sawah tadah hujan tersebut maka akan diupayakan dengan cara membuat sumur bor yang nantinya berfungsi untuk dapat mengairi areal persawahan terutama pada saat kemarau. Struktur bawah permukaan menunjukkan adanya tanah gambut hingga kedalaman 2 - 2,5 m. Kehadiran lahan gambut ini menyebabkan air tidak tersimpan optimal di lapisan top soil selama musim kemarau, yang berdampak pada gagal panen padi dan tanaman lainnya. Ini menjadi salah satu faktor penting yang perlu diperhatikan untuk mendukung keberlanjutan pertanian di desa tersebut.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan pengamatan deformasi pada kawasan pesisir pantai dalam siklus interseismic dengan menggunakan Global Positioning System (GPS) pada lima titik pemantauan di wilayah Bengkulu bagian selatan. Pengamatan GPS dilakukan dalam kurun waktu 2019-2020 kecuali untuk stasiun DEYU pada kurun waktu 2014-2016. Pengolatan data GPS dilakukan dengan menggunakan software GAMIT/GLOBK. Hasil pengolahan berupa posisi harian GPS time series dalam komponen utara dan timur yang kemudian dilakukan linear fit untuk mendapatkan vektor pergeseran. Kecepatan pergerakan pada stasiun GPS berada 22,23-27,67 mm/tahun dengan error pengukuran < 2,5 mm/tahun. Dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya aktivitas deformasi interseismic di wilayah pesisir Bengkulu bagian selatan dengan arah vektor pergeseran hasil pengamatan menuju ke arah timur laut. Vektor pergerakan interseismic yang teramati masih perlu dikoreksi terhadap rotasi Blok Sunda, sehingga vektor pergerakan interseismic yang diperoleh hanya berasal dari pergerakan zona subduksi Sumatera dan sesar Sumatra yang berguna sebagai input pada pemodelan potensi kegempaan di Sumatra khususnya di daerah Bengkulu.

Abstract

South Sumatra region has abundant potential coal reserves, but the lack of structural and stratigraphic data makes it not be easy to map their total extent and to understand the genesis. These limitations can be partially resolved using the borehole well-logging methods. The aim of this research was to investigate correlation of coal seam lithology using the well-logging methods in a coalfield, location X, Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra. The several exploration activities were conducted using the well-logging method to acquire gamma-ray logs and density logs data from seven boreholes, namely PMCBS12, PMCBS13, PMCBS14, PMCBS15, PMCBS16, PMCBS17, and PMCBS19 sites. WellCAD software was used during the data processing to derive logging data (gamma-ray and density logs), and Minex software was utilized to analyze the physical parameter correlation among boreholes. Borehole data analysis was carried out by analyzing the lithology contained in the borehole, especially to analyze the characteristics of the coal seam, such as depth and thickness. The results suggest that the thickness of the existing coal seam in area X is at seam 6 from a depth of about 2.95-19.95 m, with a coal seam thickness ranging from 1.85 m in the PMCBS12 to a thickness of 3.6 m in the PMCBS19 well. Two to three - vertically spread seams were found in each borehole with a thickness of about 0.35-3.6 m at various depths. Correlation results among boreholes show that the distribution of coal seams extends from the northwest to the southeast with a distribution direction of N300˚E/6˚.

Abstract

Introduction: The use of lipstick, blush-on, and various colored cosmetic products is highly popular among teenage girls. However, the adverse effects of hazardous colorants in cosmetics include respiratory irritations, skin irritations, eye injuries, gastrointestinal toxicity, and carcinogenic properties. Red Dragon Fruit contains a significant amount of red anthocyanin antioxidants, making it a viable natural colorant for food, cosmetics, and textiles. This community engagement project aimed to enhance the understanding of teenage girls, especially students of MAN 1 Model City of Bengkulu, regarding illegal cosmetics containing harmful and prohibited ingredients. It also aimed to improve the girls' skills in crafting natural Lip Tint and Blush-On preparations from Red Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus Polyrhizus), promoting a return to nature in cosmetic choices. This initiative was expected to inspire creative ideas among teenagers for designing alternative economic activities centered on producing natural and halal cosmetics made from herbal ingredients. Methods: The project involved educational and awareness-raising activities about the dangers of forbidden cosmetic ingredients, followed by workshops on making Lip Tint and Blush-On formulations. These workshops were led by faculty members from the School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy, with assistance from students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Bengkulu. Results: Evaluation results showed that workshop participants experienced a 63.2% increased in knowledge and gained the ability to independently create Lip Tint and Blush-On products from red dragon fruit. Conclusion: The workshop successfully produced natural Lip Tint and Blush On and the project also heightened the students' interest in the Pharmacy Program.

Abstract

Trans Malakoni Village, located on Enggano Island, Bengkulu Province, faces significant challenges in providing access to clean, potable water. Limited access to adequate freshwater sources and water quality that frequently fails to meet health standards are major obstacles to the community's sustainable livelihood. This research aims to explore the potential and implementation of household-scale reverse osmosis (RO) technology as an innovative solution for producing clean, potable water in Trans Malakoni Village. The research methodology involves raw water quality analysis, the design of a household-scale RO system suitable for local conditions, and an evaluation of system performance and community acceptance. Initial results indicate that existing water sources in Trans Malakoni Village, although limited, can be effectively treated using RO technology to achieve established drinking water quality standards. The proposed household-scale RO system design emphasizes energy efficiency, operational ease, and affordable maintenance costs, thereby enabling sustainable adoption by households. The implementation of RO technology is expected not only to enhance access to clean water but also to contribute to improved public health, self-reliance in water resource management, and sustainable living in Malakoni Village. This study recommends further research on system optimization and community education programs to maximize the positive impact of RO technology in other remote island regions.

Abstract

Bengkulu Province is one of the provinces with high rainfall. High rainfall intensity has a negative impact on various sectors. Therefore, it is necessary to have information regarding accurate rainfall data. Currently there are many satellites that can be used to obtain rain data, this remote sensing technology offers an excellent complement. This research aims to identify comparisons/comparison of rainfall data between various satellite images and field measurements in Bengkulu. The coefficient of determination test was carried out to obtain a correlation between satellite rainfall and direct measurements. Data accuracy analysis shows the correlation results of monthly rainfall from four types of satellite images at 4 observation points in the Bengkulu area. Based on data in the cities of Bengkulu, Kepahiang and Taba Penanjung, it can be seen that the satellite that has the best correlation is the GPM IMERG satellite. For Bengkulu City it was 72.64%, Kepahiang was 74.34% and Taba Penanjung was 56.47%. In the Bukit Kaba area, the best correlation results are on the CHIRPS satellite with a correlation of 15.58%. From the results obtained, we conclude that satellites that can be used by the public and researchers in rainfall analysis are good using GPM IMERG satellite data as a substitute for BMKG data. Abstract

The mechanical properties of soil in agricultural land are greatly influenced by seasonal changes, which can affect productivity and food security. This study aims to analyze the effects of wet and dry seasons on the mechanical properties of subsoil in the rice fields of Semarang Village, Bengkulu City, and their implications for land management that supports food security. The method used was Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) with data acquisition at 24 points using 24 geophones (2 m spacing, 5 m offset). The data was then processed using WinMASW Professional 5.0 software to obtain a 2D model of shear wave velocity (Vs) and Poisson's Ratio to a depth of 30 m. The results showed that during the wet season, the soil was dominated by low Vs values (< 350 m/s) and high Poisson's Ratios (0.4 0.45), indicating saturated and soft conditions. Conversely, during the dry season, Vs values increased (600–1200 m/s) with lower Poisson Ratios (0.35–0.4), indicating a denser and stiffer subsurface medium. These findings confirm that seasonal variations in water content greatly affect the mechanical properties of the soil. Therefore, MASW-based analysis can be used as a basis for planning adaptive water and agricultural land management to support food security in tropical climates.

Abstract

The Serangai area, Batik Nau District, North Bengkulu has the highest average abrasion speed of 20 m/year. The abrasion could cause the coastal area to erode the coastline till several tens of meters. The purpose of this study was to determine the height of the ocean waves and to determine the energy of the ocean waves that has the potential to accelerate the abrasion process in the Serangai area. The research was carried out on November 5-7, 2018 in the Serangai beach area at a depth of 5 m using SBE 26 Plus Seagauge Wave equipment. The results showed that the observed wave height was between 0.8-1.6 m with a significant wave height (Hs) of 1.38 m. In addition, the wave period ranges from 5-11 s with a significant wave period (Ts) of 8.2 s. The result also shows that the maximum wave height of 1.6 m occurred on November 7, 2018 with maximum wave energy of 1800 J/m2. This result can perhaps accelerate the abrasion process in the Serangai area. It can also be seen that the wave height in the Serangai region is higher than in several other areas in Indonesia. However, it is necessary to continue observing the wave height to see the seasonal variations in sea wave height in Serangai area.
