Abstract

Growth and Production of soybean varieties of Bradyrhizobium inoculation. Demand of soybean as a protein source continues to increase, but the increasing of domestic soybean production is still low so it must import from abroad. This is due to the decline in soil fertility and agricultural land conversion to residential. The solution, soybean planting can be done by optimizing the existing land commonly called agricultural intensification. In this research, agricultural intensification is done by adding Bradyrhizobium as biofertilizer. symbiosis between soybean plants with these bacteria can directly fix the nitrogen (N) from the air and can save in the N fertilizer of inorganic form. The objective of the research was to know the responses of the soybean varieties toward Bradyrhizobium inoculation. The split plot design with three replication was used, Bradyrhizobium as main plot and soybean varieties (Anjasmoro, Burangrang, Mitani, Grobogan, Tanggamus, Detam 1, and Detam 2) as sub plot. The result showed that the Bradyrhizobium were not significant affected on all of parameters. The varieties significantly affected on plant height at 5 weeks after planted, flower initiation, the time of harvest, the seed weights per plant, and 100 seeds weight. Interaction between Bradyrhizobium inoculation and soybean varieties were not significant on all of parameters .   Keyword : growth, soybean, inoculation, bradyrhizobium, variety

Response of Three Soybean Varieties as Intercrop in First Immature Periode of Rubber Tree to Rhizobium Application, supervised by Lisa Mawarni, Luthfi Aziz Mahmud Siregar and Radite Tistama The aim of this research was to determinate the growth and production effect of three soybean varieties (Glycine max (L) Merril) on the rubber plant inter row in first immature periode of rubber (Hevea brasiliensis Muell) plantation. This research was conducted at the Sunge Putih Research Centre with altitude ± 80 m above sea level, in August until November 2014. The research was using a block randomized design with two factors and three replications. The first factor was variety IPB 1, Wilis, Anjasmoro and the second factor was Rhizobium (Density 109g or ml/plant) then without Rhizobium. The results showed that the differences in varieties had significantly effect on plant height of age 2-5 (week after plant), age 2-3 (week after plant), summarize of leaf area, mean number of productive branches, root fresh weight, root dry weight, and weight of 100 seeds per plot. Inoculation rhizobium significantly effect on summarize of leaf aera and mean number of productive branches. Abstract

ABSTRACT Response on Growth and Yield Some Varieties of Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) to Bokashi Fertilizer. Growth and productivity of plant is affected by some factors, among other things are varieties and fertilizing. The research had been conducted at experimental field of Balai Benih Induk Palawija, Tanjung Selamat, District of Deli Serdang (± 57 m asl) in March – June  2012. Experimental was conducted using by Randomize Block Design with double factors consist of four hybrid varieties, that were Anjamoro, Mutiara,  Tanggamus, and Wilis and bokashi fertilizer was consist of three degrees, were without bokashi, 200 g, 400 g, and 600 g, three replications was used to the treatments. Data were analyzed with ANOVA and continued with HSD. The results showed that varieties were significantly to all parameters except the number of empty pods, bokashi fertilizer addition were significantly to plant height at 2 and 6 weeks after planted, flowering time, number of pods contents per plant, dry weight of canopy, and weight seeds per plant. The combination between varieties and bokashi fertilizer were not significantly to whole parameters. High heritability value in growth characteristics (0.72 – 0.94) and productivity characteristics (0.52 – 0.99)  except Mutiara variety in dry weight of root (0.03). Keywords : varieties, bokashi fertilizer, yield  ABSTRAK Respons pertumbuhan dan produksi beberapa varietas kedelai (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) terhadap pemberian pupuk bokashi. Pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya varietas dan pemupukan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan Balai Benih Induk Palawija Tanjung Selamat, Deli Serdang (± 57 m dpl.) pada Maret – Juni 2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan faktor ganda yaitu 4 varietas, yaitu Anjasmoro, Mutiara, Tanggamus, dan Wilis dan pupuk bokashi 4 taraf, yaitu tanpa pupuk bokashi, 200 g, 400 g, dan 600 g, perlakuan diulang tiga kali. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas berbeda nyata terhadap semua peubah amatan kecuali jumlah polong hampa per tanaman. Aplikasi pupuk bokashi berbeda nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 3-6 MST, umur berbunga, jumlah polong berisi, bobot kering tajuk, dan bobot biji per tanaman. Interaksi antara varietas dan pupuk bokashi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua peubah amatan. Nilai heritabilitas yang tinggi terhadap karakter pertumbuhan (0.72 - 0.94) dan karakter produksi (0.52 – 0.99)  kecuali varietas Mutiara pada parameter bobot kering akar (0.03). Abstract

Peanut is the second legums largest planted in Indonesia after soybean. It needed soil with sand to silt loam. Clay Texture of Soil has capability to defend water and soil minerals, but low infiltration rate, organic substances and Nitrogen,  also big cracked in dry season because particle clay of soil was shrink. The aim of the research is to get peanut with high yield and best quality at Clay Texture of Soil. The experiment conducted at BBI Palawija Tanjung Selamat, Deli Serdang                      (± 57 meters above sea level) from April to July 2012. The experiment used Randomized Block Design with variety treatment  that consists of six varieties : Gajah, Jepara, Biawak, Landak, Komodo and Simpai, with four replications. The data was analyzed by Analysis of Variance and continued with  Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Varieties showed significantly different on plant height 2-9 weeks after planted, time of flower initiation, total pods per plant, total pops, total pod producing seed, number of seed per plant, number of seed per plot, 100 seed weight, seed weight per plant, and percentage of peds producing pod. Variety were not significantly different on number of branch 9 weeks after planted, total peds, percentage pods  producing seed, total seed per pod, total pod per plot, number of seed  per plot, seed weight per plot, dry weight of shoot, dry weight of root and grow plant percentage. Qualities observation of seed were  watched  colour, size and protein degree.   Keyword : variety, peanut, soil teksture

Abstract

Puar tenangau is a herbal plant of Zingeberaceae that from Thailand. The Plant has a big potential as pharmacy and traditional medicines, but the spread of this plant was unknown well in Indonesia even so needed a conservation for this plant. In vitro conservation is a one of alternative. In in vitro method, adding plant growth regulator is needed like Auxine and cytokinine.  Napthtalen-3-Acetid is kind of auxine that good to root growth and Benzil amino purin is kind of cytokinin to shoot growth. The research aimed to know the influence of Benzylamino purine (BAP) and Napthtalen-3-acetid acid (NAA) concentration on the growth of puar tenangau.The research was carried out in the Tissue Culture Laboratory, Agriculture’s Faculty of Nort Sumatera University from March to June 2012. This research used Completely Randomized Design with two factors. First factor was BAP concentration consist of four levels:0 mg/l; 2 mg/l; 4 mg/l; 6 mg/l. The second factor was NAA concentration consist of three levels are 0 mg/l; 1.5 mg/l; 3 mg/l. The results showed that BAP concentration give effect significantly only on leaves number in 12 weeks after planting, but it have no effect significantly on the percent of living explant, plantlet height, leaves number on 4 and 8 weeks after planting. NAA and interaction of BAP and NAA have no effect significantly to living explant, plantlet height, leaves number on 4,8 and 12 weeks after planting.   Keywords: puar tenangau, BAP,NAA, In vitro.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Growth of plant is affected by some factors; among other things are plant media and auxin application. A research had been conducted at Pasar II Setiabudi, Kelurahan Tanjung Sari, Medan (± 25 m asl) in March – August  2012. The objective of the research was to know response of  plant  media and auxin naphtalene acetic acid application on the growth of sugar palm seed. The research that use Randomized Block Design with two factor that plant media of (top soil + sand + compost), (top soil + husk charcoal + compost), (top soil + sand + husk charcoal + compost) and auxin application were of 0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm and 150 ppm. The parameters observed were increase seed height, leaf sum, leaf klorofil and steam diameter. The result of research showed that the response plant media and auxin naphtalene acetic acid application on sugar palm nursery with interaction between plant media and auxsin application were not significantly to all the parameters observed.   Keywords : plant media, auxsin application, sugar palm

Abstract

Tomato plants originated from Mexico to Peru region. At the present time the tomato hasbecome more developed, modern cultivars or hybrids can grow well and produce the climate ismuch different from the place of origin. This study aims to create drought tolerant plant of tomatovarieties. The research has done in Tissue Culture Laboratory Fakultuty Agriculture UnivercityNort Sumatera, Medan since Juli-September 2012. Using a completely randomized design with twofactors, that is Polyethylene Glicol (PEG) (0,5,10,15,20%) and Tomato varieties (TO-244, Niki,Kartika, Mio, Super Hawai) with four replications. Observation variable is living root forminginitiation, total of root, and high of roott. The result of research has shown that PEG is significantfor root forming initiation and high of root, but not significant for total of root.

Abstract

Boesenbergia flava merupakan tanaman yang berasal dari famili zingiberaceae. Sebagianbesar, ditemukan dalam area sangat lembab, area teduh dan biasanya dekat dengan sungai ataudalam kondisi berawa, yang keberadaannya masih susah ditemukan karena tanaman ini langka,genus dari tumbuh-tumbuhan rhizomatus kecil, sebagian besar tumbuh di hutan. Zingiberaceaemerupakan tanaman herba tropis yang digunakan sebagai obat-obatan, bahan kosmetik maupunbumbu masak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi BAP dan NAAterhadap pertumbuhan akar Boesenbergia flava secara in vitro. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan diLaboratorium Kultur Jaringan Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medanyang dimulai pada bulan Maret sampai dengan Mei 2012. Rancangan yang digunakan adalahRancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan dua faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasiNAA yang terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu 0 mg/l; 1 mg/l; 2 mg/l; 3 mg/l. Faktor kedua adalah konsentrasiBAP meliputi 0 mg/l; 1.5 mg/l; 3 mg/l; 4.5 mg/l. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasiNAA dan BAP tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah akar dan persentase eksplan yang hidup,tetapi interaksi antara NAA dan BAP berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah akar. Pada konsentrasiNAA, BAP dan interaksinya berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang akar.Kata kunci

Abstract

This research aims to determined the concentration of the most effective growth regulator for budinduction patchouli plant by in-vitro methode. The research was done in the laboratory of planttissue culture, agriculture faculty university of north sumatra, medan from January 2012 to june2012 using factorial completely randomized design with 2wo factors that is giving BAP (0, 0.5, 1and 1.5 mg/l) and NAA (0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 mg/l). The measured parameters were percentage ofeksplan living, the percentage of contamination, the percentage of eksplan forming buds, budheight, roots number, root length, leaves number, noods number, time of initiation, appearance ofcallus, colour of callus and texture of callus. The result showed that giving BAP and NAAsignificantly affected on the buds initiation time parameters with the best time of initiation is 7 days((0.6 mg/l NAA and 1.5mg/l BAP and the highest number of root that 8 pieces (0.2 NAA mg/l andBAP 1.5mg/l )and did not significanly on others parameter. The best medium for bud inductionwas not found yet.Key words : NAA, BAP, patchouli

Abstract

Strain Selection of Soybean ( Glycine max (L) Merril) of F3 Generation on Saline Soil. Salinity isone of the most serious and widespread agricultural problems resulting in losses of yield. Generally,as land is more intensively cultivated, the salinity problem becomes more severe. A highconcentration of NaCl greatly reduces growth of both the shoot and the root. One strategy availableto cope with saline soil is to choose salt-tolerance crops or to select salt-tolerance cultivars within acrop. This research aims to select the soybean that can grow and has a higher production on salinesoil of F3 generation. This research was conducted in the experiment area at Desa Tanjung Rejo,subdistrict of Percut Sei Tuan, Regenecy of Deli Serdang in the elevation of 1.5 m on above sealevel since Apryl 2012 up to Juny 2012. The experiment design applied in this research is a crosssection analysis that consist of 1 variety, and the applied methot is a F3 generation pedigreeselection, the population is sample, the number of live plant is 137 of 2118. The selected plant isbased on the grain production per plant for 39 plants. Based on the results of research indicates thatbased on the highest weight of seed per plant is 4.9 g on the plant number 1305.2.20 and the lowestproduction is 0.2 g on the plant number 88.5.10 and 88.5.11. The component of production that hasa direct influence to the grain production per plant is the number of branch, age of flowering,number of pod and number of pods contain. Component of production that giving the highest directinfluence is the number of pod contain for 0.832.Keywords : species, soybean, selection, saline soil.
