Abstract

UMKM pengolahan abon skala rumah tangga masih menghadapi kendala pada tahap penirisan dan pengeringan yang dilakukan secara manual, sehingga proses produksi membutuhkan waktu lama, kadar minyak produk relatif tinggi, tekstur belum seragam, dan daya simpan terbatas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan mengoptimalkan produksi abon pada Mitra A2N Gorontalo melalui penerapan teknologi pengeringan sentrifugal berupa alat spinner. Metode kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research yang melibatkan mitra dalam identifikasi masalah, sosialisasi teknologi, pelatihan dan praktik pengoperasian, penerapan alat dalam produksi, serta pendampingan dan evaluasi keberlanjutan produksi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan spinner mampu menurunkan waktu pengolahan 2 kg abon dari sekitar empat jam menjadi sekitar satu jam. Produk abon yang dihasilkan menjadi lebih kering, teksturnya lebih seragam, kadar minyak berkurang, dan proses produksi lebih efisien. Selain itu, keterampilan mitra dalam mengoperasikan, membersihkan, dan merawat alat mengalami peningkatan. Kegiatan ini juga menghasilkan model pendampingan berbasis integrasi teknologi tepat guna, pelatihan operasional, penerapan prosedur kerja, dan evaluasi produksi berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, penerapan spinner bermanfaat dalam meningkatkan efisiensi, mutu, dan kemandirian produksi abon. Pengembangan lanjutan perlu dilakukan melalui uji daya simpan berkala, penguatan standar operasional, perbaikan pengemasan, dan pendampingan pemasaran.

Abstract

Yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) is an economically important small pelagic fish that supports coastal livelihoods and local food supply in Morowali, Central Sulawesi. Increasing fishing pressure in Banda Sea waters requires location-specific biological information to guide sustainable management. This study analyzed length-frequency distribution, length-weight relationship, growth pattern, and condition factor of yellowstripe scad landed in Bete-Bete Village, Bahodopi District, Morowali Regency. Sampling was conducted from March to May 2026 using 450 individuals obtained from local fishers, with approximately 150 fish sampled each month. Total length ranged from 138 to 203 mm, and catches were dominated by the 171–190 mm size range, especially the 178–183 mm and 184–190 mm classes. Length-weight relationships showed strong positive associations, with coefficients of determination ranging from 79.88% to 94.79%. Growth was generally isometric across sex and month, except for male fish in March, which showed negative allometric growth. Condition factor values were mostly above 1.0 and generally ranged from approximately 1.0 to 1.4, indicating good physiological condition and sufficient habitat support. The findings indicate that yellowstripe scad in Banda Sea waters around Morowali remain in relatively healthy biological condition. However, precautionary management is still required through minimum catch-size regulation, improved gear selectivity, and routine landing-site monitoring.
Blue Shark Bycatch and Conservation Gaps in Indonesian and Eastern Indian Ocean Fisheries: A Systematic Review of Spatial Risk, Fisheries Pressure, and Management Evidence Dewi Shinta Achmad

Abstract

Blue sharks (Prionace glauca) are among the most frequently encountered pelagic sharks in oceanic fisheries, yet their conservation risk remains unevenly understood in Indonesian and eastern Indian Ocean waters. This systematic literature review synthesizes evidence on spatial risk, fisheries pressure, bycatch exposure, biological vulnerability, and conservation gaps relevant to blue shark management. Following a systematic search and thematic extraction strategy, the review organized peer-reviewed studies into four evidence domains: spatial distribution and habitat suitability; longline fisheries interaction and bycatch exposure; biological vulnerability, mortality, and population-level risk; and conservation measures, monitoring, and governance gaps. The synthesis shows that blue shark risk is not reducible to species presence or catch frequency. Instead, risk emerges from dynamic overlap between environmentally structured habitat, pelagic longline effort, demographic vulnerability, uncertain post-release survival, and weak species-specific monitoring. Evidence from Indian Ocean and Indo-Western Pacific studies indicates important seasonal and demographic variation, but Indonesia-specific data remain limited. This gap constrains stock assessment, spatial planning, and evaluation of bycatch mitigation. Conservation measures are further weakened where static protected areas, incomplete observer coverage, and trade monitoring are not integrated with regional fisheries governance. The review concludes that blue shark conservation in Indonesian and eastern Indian Ocean fisheries requires a risk-based framework linking habitat modelling, CPUE standardization, observer and electronic monitoring, post-release mortality studies, gear mitigation, and transboundary management under regional fisheries organizations.
