Abstract

General Background Educational transformations in the digital era increasingly leverage automated technologies to create interactive and adaptive instruction within language learning contexts. Specific Background In secondary education, environmental poster composition requires integrating persuasive text with visual communication, yet classroom instruction frequently relies on conventional methods lacking digital tool integration. Knowledge Gap Although standalone digital graphics software is utilized, quasi-experimental research simultaneously evaluating conversational artificial intelligence tools regarding student motivation and learning outcomes remains scarce. Aims This study evaluated ChatGPT as an artificial intelligence learning medium to determine its influence on student motivation, classroom engagement, and poster writing outcomes among eleventh-grade students. Results A quasi-experimental study employing a non-equivalent control group design revealed that the experimental class using ChatGPT achieved higher motivation scores, advancing from 58.88 to 70.71, compared to the control class moving from 54.00 to 60.59. Furthermore, learning outcomes in the experimental class rose from 64.71 to 91.18, significantly outperforming the control group which reached 83.24 ($p = 0.000$). Novelty This research provides empirical evidence that integrating conversational artificial intelligence into problem-based tasks accelerates creative ideation, persuasive drafting, and interactive learning behaviors beyond conventional group discussions. Implications Secondary school educators should integrate conversational artificial intelligence alongside teacher guidance to promote student-centered learning, heighten active participation, and elevate composition quality in language classrooms. Highlights ChatGPT deployment substantially elevates student motivation scores measured via the ARCS framework. Quasi-experimental analysis reveals significant cognitive assessment gains ($p = 0.000$) over conventional methods. Active classroom participation increases to 88.89% through structured prompt engineering and automated feedback. Abstract

Writing personal experience texts is essential for elementary students, yet many struggle with idea generation and text organization due to conventional instruction methods. This study developed and evaluated a contextual learning model using digital comics assisted by Heyzine Flipbook for teaching personal experience writing to fourth-grade students. Employing Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), data were collected from 60 students across two elementary schools through interviews, questionnaires, and writing tests. Validation by four experts (model expert, content expert, two practitioner teachers) yielded a very high feasibility rating (average 96.45%). Implementation results showed improved writing quality, with classical learning mastery reaching 87% and 90% in the two schools, exceeding the 75% minimum threshold. The findings indicate that the integrated contextual-digital comic model is feasible and effective for teaching personal experience writing. Limitations include the single-grade focus and the absence of long-term retention measurement. The study contributes a practical, empirically validated instructional model integrating contextual learning principles with digital comic media for elementary writing instruction.

Abstract

The integration of digital technology and local wisdom in learning materials is essential to create more contextual and engaging educational resources. This study aims to develop digital teaching materials in the form of poetry texts containing local wisdom and to test their feasibility and effectiveness in improving the writing creativity of high school students. This study applied an R&D method using the ADDIE model, with data collected through validated interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the developed digital teaching materials were deemed highly feasible for use, with an average validation score of 4.4. In addition, the results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes and writing creativity after using digital teaching materials in the form of poetry texts containing local wisdom, with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. Thus, digital teaching materials in the form of poetry texts containing local wisdom are proven to be feasible, practical, and effective in improving the writing creativity of high school students and can be used as an innovative alternative in Indonesian language learning.
