Abstract

Analysis of Silahi rivers water quality and health disorders at comunity on ToguDomu Nauli village, Sub-district Dolok Pardamean, Simalungun regency. Silahi river waterwas one of water source which used by Togu Domu Nauli people. In order to assure waterquality which used by people is safety therefore need a water quality control. The purpose ofthis study is to analyze Silahi river water quality for physic quality, biological quality,chemical quality and health disorders which sequanced by river water used. The method usedwas decriptive, crossectinal study with 384 population. Sampling based on simple randomsampling thus got 79 sample. The result are obtained that physic quality of Silahi river waterThe physical parameters which are not eligible for health which,colors 36.1-38.2 TCU,turbidity ranged from 0.95 to 1.13 NTU. While qualified temperature at 22.10C, TDS 57-59mg/l, TSS, 7-12 mg/l, is odorless. Chemical parameters which are not eligible for health orquality that is above standards DO revolves around 7.31-7.50 mg/l BOD range 2.7-5.09 mg/ll, COD range 7.0-10.4 mg/l. The parameters meet the standard quality raw pH 7.0-7.2,ammoniac-0.0003 0.0005 mg/l, phosphate 0.08-0.20, nitrate 1.4-1.7 mg/l, DO 7.31-7.50 mg/l,total coliform 38-140/100 ml, colifaecal 9 -70/100 ml.The results of study indicate thatpercentage of respondent with the skin diseases is 57 people (74.0%). So suggested to makewater filter, further research needs to be done about the water quality of Lake Toba aroundthe village of Nauli, Domu and Togu research about personal hygiene Togu Domu Naulivillage community.Keywords: Water, Skin health disorders,quality of the river water

Abstract

Market is area where the buying and selling of goods with the seller more than onegood something called the shopping centre traditional market, supermarket, shops, mall,plaza, central trade and others.Research is to give in idea of the characteristics and solid waste management marketand complaint skin irritation on janitor in the traditional market and modern market inMedan city 2013.This research is descriptive with sample janitor which totaled 40 people.The characteristic of respondents in the traditional market Penampungan PusatPasar the most common being a janitor ≥ 26 years: 10 people (45,5%), gender is a man: 13people (59,1%), last high school education: 13 people (59,1%), long work ≥ 1 years: 15people (68,2%), working hour ≥ 5 hours: 22 people (100%), ever had complaints of skinirritation: 8 people (36,4%). The characteristic of respondents in the modern marketBerastagi Supermarket, a janitor at most 15-20 years old: 10 people (55,6%), gender is aman: 13 people (55,6%), last high school education: 18 people (100%), long work ≤ 1years: 17 people (94,4%), working hour ≥ 5 hours: 18 people (100%), never hadcomplaints of skin irritation: 18 people (100%). Abstract

Restaurant is a common business that drug a commerced activity instead for baverages and drinks. In this business, restaurant establish in a building or rent a half building and have several equipment for proceed of producting, service, salesing for baverages and drinks. The purpose of this research is to analize the restaurant differences of maintances system according to quality level (grade A, B, C and Without grade) held on 2013, in Medan 2013, which includes the principles of hygiene sanitation management of foods about food procurement, food storage, food management, the transport of food, food storage, food serving and sanitary facilities available. The type of this research is a descriptive survey to know difference of sanitary management of restaurants according to quality levels (grade A, B and C) on Medan, 2013, using survey technique interview and observation. The sample in this research was 8 restaurants. The result of this research shows that there are differences between higyene and sanitation for food maintances in these places restaurant grade A, B, C, and without grade in Medan 2013. Restaurants grade A, B and C already complete government regulation from PERMENKES No.1098/Menkes/VII/2003, however restaurants without yet complete the regulation. Based on the results of this research are recommended to the health department to always conduct outreach regarding hygienic sanitation of the restaurants. Abstract

ABSTRACT Diarrhea caused sickness and death in development country. Diarrhea is one of public heath problem Indonesia because diarrhea diseases included in the 10 diseases chich often caused high morbidity and mortality rates.This study aimed to describe the hygiene sanitation (water supply and sewerage), the density of flies and solid waste treatment with the incidence of diarrhea in sukaramai flats. Correlation beetwen the hygiene sanitation (water supply and sewerage), the density of flies and solid waste treatment with the incidence of diarrhea in sukaramai flatsThe type of study was analytic survey with cross sectional design. The sample of this study was 44 house wives who have a trash can on the house and this study conducted to sukaramai flats II Kecamatan Medan  Area Kota Medan. Sample taken by Purposive sample methode. The results showed that the hygiene sanitation (water supply and sewerage) already qualified. The density of flies was low (0-2), so it doesn’t be a problem. But solid waste management still not qualified. There was  significant relationship between water supply (p=0,001),  the density of flies (p=0,001) with the incidence of diarrhea. Meanwhile, there was no relationship between sewerage (p=0,297), solid waste treatment (p=1) with the incindence of diarrhea. The hygiene sanitation ( water supply and sewerage) already qualified, but solid waste treatment aren’t qualified yet. Meanwhile, the density of flies was low. It suggested to people who live in sukaramai flats to keep the environment clean. Keyword : Diarrhea, water supply, sewerage, fly, solid waste.

Abstract

Iced tea is a traditional beverage which favored by many people. Iced tea could be contaminated by bacteria if not better way of processing. One of the bacteria that can contaminate is Escherichia coli which is an indicator of fecal coliforms and if drinking water contaminated by E. coli is the possibility that has been contaminated by human feces. This study aims to determine the content of Escherichia coli in iced tea and also hygiene and sanitation management iced tea in pajak karona jamin ginting kecamatan medan baru in 2013. The method used is a descriptive survey. The data obtained through observations and laboratory tests. Based on the survey results revealed that all examined iced tea have been contaminated by Escherichia coli is 7 samples 240 MPN, 2 samples 96 MPN and 1 sample 27 MPN. This is unqualified with Permenkes RI No.492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010 which states that the amount of content of E. coli in drinks is 0/100 ml sample. The presence of E. coli in iced tea may contaminated by human feces. Possible contamination of iced tea can be caused by lack of hygiene in the processing of iced tea, because based on observations obtained that all merchants have not applied the principles of hygiene and sanitation. To handle and restain the situation need to prevent the holding of inviligation and controlling by the relevant agencies (Departemen Kesehatan) about the importance of hygiene and sanitation iced tea. Abstract

ABSTRACT Tea is the most consumed beverage either cold or hot. One kind of them is bag tea products. Tea bag is wrapped in smooth porous paper and heat resistant. In general, the paper uses chlorine as a bleach, it is the reason for necessary to study the chlorine content in water of tea bag. The purpose of this study was to determine the chlorine content in water of tea bag based on temperature and time. The kind of this study is descriptive survey. The object of study is the water of tea bag mixing in drinking water then examined in laboratorium of Balai Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan Dan Pemberantasan Penyakit Menular Kelas I Medan by using spectrophotometric method. Based on the findings, there is the chlorine content of tea bag water at 400-1000C with immersion time respectively 1 minutes, 3 minutes and 5 minutes. The survey results revealed that the chlorine content increased by the increasing of temperature and time. The chlorine content is 1.35 mg/250 ml in temperature of 900c with 3 minutes immersion and chlorine content 0.2817 mg/250 ml in temperature of 800c with 3 minutes. Hence, it is concluded that the increasing of temperature and time will increase the chlorine in the tea bag water. It can be harmful health both in short and long term. According to Permenkes RI No. 492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010 that chlorine levels in drinking water is 1.25 mg/250 ml. Abstract

Using the air conditioner as an alternative to replace natural ventilation was to make comfortable and to improve the productivity. However the use of air conditioner that was not well maintained becomes a good media for microbial growth such as legionella. Legionella was live and breeds easily in humid and warm environment, which was suitable in the AC equipments like cooling tower. This research was to identify the existence of legionella in the room using air conditioner, the characteristics of the staffs and their health complaint. The research location in Sumatera Utara governmental building at Jalan Diponegoro No 30 Medan. The type of this study was descriptive, the number of population were  95 staffs who were working at Biro Protokol room and Biro Pemerintahan room.  Samples were total sampling technique. Data were tabulation and presented by table and analyzed descriptively. The result of this study showed that the most staffs were 31-40 years old (38,9%). education level was senior high school (44,2%), the most staffs have been working more than 5 years (77,9%), staffs working more than 8 hours/day was 63,2%. The staffs were not smoker (71,6%) and the staffs who don’t have allergic to cold air was 88,4%. Laboratorium result showed  legionella was found at cooling tower and the room using air conditioner. There are 67 staffs having  health complaint and the most health complaint were sore throat . This study conclude that using of AC central which was not well maintained may increase the growth of legionella and causes the health complaint for the staffs. The suggestion for Sumatera Utara government was to check the Air Conditioner once every three months and to promote the staffs to participate in keeping the working area clean. Abstract

Swimming pool is one of the public places which is liked by all and a place where people can easily catch up with many disease. The joint use of swimming pool and poor hygiene can cause negative effects for health of the students from Faculty of Sport Sciences who regularly use the swimming pool of Sejahtera Club Chain, State University of Medan. Therefore, the quality of the pool water have to be monitored; chemical parameters such as residual chlorine (0.2-0.5 mg / L) and microbiological parameters such as the presence of Candida albicans (0/100ml water) in the pool water. The purpose of this research is to analyze the residual chlorine and Candida albicans in the pool water as well as the student’s health complaints after swimming in the pool. The type of research is a descriptive survey. The population in this study are students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences majors PJKR 2013 ledger as many as 173 students, with Taro Yamane formula obtained samples of 64 students. The research object, pool water, was taken at 5 points. The results shows that 85% pool sanitation is eligible, 15% is ineligible. Residual chlorine content of the test results obtained 0.024 mg / L to 0.033 mg / L is ineligible and positive Candida albicans was found in the pool water. Most health complaints associated is red eyes (81.3%) and scaly skin (56.25%). The research conclusion is ineligible residual chlorine and Candida albicans and occurs health complaints for swimmers. It is suggested to the manager of the swimming pool to do chlorine residual monitoring regularly. Keywords: Residual Chlorine, Candida albicans, Sanitation, Health Complaints

Abstract

ABSTRACT Aedes aegypti often cause health problems, especially dengue disease. To control its population were used insecticides. However, the use of chemical insecticides cause many problems. As we know,  Aedes aegypty is the main vector of dengue disease. Today there is no effective way to overcome the dengue disease, because until today have not found the drugs effective anti-dengue virus and a vaccine that can protect themselves from dengue virus infection. One way to combating dengue vector control is by using synthetic insecticides. There are two major categories of insecticides which is often used as a household insecticide, and they are the insecticide which is used to kill insects and insecticides which is  function to repel the insects. Therefore, it is necessary insecticides safer alternatives for the environment, one of them is by using the kecombrang flower extracts  (Etlingera elatior). The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of kecombrang flower extract as reppelent of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a completely randomized design (CRD). Kecombrang flower extract concentration used was 0% (control), 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5%. From the research, the best concentration is 5% the number of mosquitoes which was away  is  19. One Way ANOVA test 30 menute observation, it is known that the number of mosquitoes which away, there is differences in effectiveness significantly between kecombrang flower extracts as reppelent of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes with value of p (0.000) < 0.05, 60 menute observation, there is no differences in effectiveness significantly between kecombrang flower extracts as reppelent of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes with value of p (0.542) > 0.05, Based on this research it can be concluded that the kecombrang flower extract was effective as an  reppelent and killed Aedes aegypti mosquito effectively.
