Abstract

This classroom action research aims to (1) improve the quality of the learning process to write paragraphs with a critical thinking stimulus using the mind mapping method and (2) improve the ability to write paragraphs with a critical thinking stimulus using the mind mapping method. The research subjects are students taking Indonesian courses in science and social science majors at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Data sources include lesson plans, photos, test results, a list of scores, field notes, and notes on interview results. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, tests, and documents. The achievement indicator is 75%. The research procedure includes preparation, initial survey, cycle implementation, observation, and reporting. Mastery of critical thinking skills in writing paragraphs is also reflected through a long continuous process starting from the ability of students to build references and social relationships such as cooperation with other students, communicating with others, tolerance, respecting the opinions of others, and being open to criticism from others. Other aspects observed encompass the ability of students to acquire confidence that is essential to possess the ability and capability to complete learning tasks. Furthermore, students can master the teaching materials that they have studied at least 75% of what should be achieved per the specific instructional objectives intended.

Abstract

Short story writing instruction in the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at the Faculty of Humanities, Unsoed, aims to help students develop ideas through writing and improve vocabulary mastery. However, students often struggle to generate ideas independently and frequently rely on content from other sources. Additionally, many students have limited vocabulary, which affects their confidence in their writing. The project-based learning model has proven effective when applied to various learning activities. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the effectiveness of project-based learning in short story writing instruction within the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at the Faculty of Humanities, Unsoed. The study employs a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design, with third-semester students from the program as the population. The third-semester students involved in the study totaled 24. Measurements were taken with a pre-test conducted before the intervention and a post-test after the intervention. The results showed an average pre-test score of 68.25 for short story writing. The average post-test score, after applying the project-based learning model, was 80.33. This represents an increase of 12.08 points following the use of the project-based learning model for short story writing. The use of this model was effective, as the average score improved after the intervention.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi anak penderita retardasi mental, peran orang tua, serta pengaruh LAD terhadap kemampuan berbahasa anak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif studi kasus dengan menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman dimana melalui beberapa tahan mulai dari merangkum data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa anak yang menderita retardasi mental memang benar akan mengalami gangguan berbahasa, hal ini disebabkan melalui faktor internal dan faktor eksternal sehingga dibutuhkan bantuan orangtua dan lingkungan sekitar untuk membantu anak tersebut berkomunikasi dan menerima informasi dalam ruang lingkup kebahasaan. Pada kasus IK ditemukan bukti konkrit mengenai permasalahan keterbatasan perkembangan intelektual dan fisik penderita retardasi mental. Pentingnya peran orang tua dan lingkungan sekitar adalah urgensi dari penyelesaian masalah yang dialami oleh penderita sehingga di masa yang akan datang diharapkan terciptanya media pembelajaran bagi penderita retardasi mental yang sesuai dengan indikator penderita retardasi mental.

Abstract

Keterbacaan wacana berperan penting dalam membantu siswa memahami teks sesuai jenjang pendidikannya. Penelitian ini menganalisis tingkat keterbacaan wacana dalam soal Penilaian Sumatif Akhir Jenjang (PSAJ) Bahasa Indonesia kelas XII di SMA Negeri 1 Purwokerto tahun ajaran 2024/2025 menggunakan Formula Grafik Fry. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik simak dan catat. Sebanyak 22 wacana dianalisis melalui perhitungan kata, kalimat, suku kata, dan pemetaan pada Grafik Fry. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 18 wacana (81,82%) berada di bawah tingkat keterbacaan kelas XII, satu wacana sesuai, satu lebih tinggi, dan dua tidak valid. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar wacana terlalu sederhana sehingga dapat memengaruhi pemahaman siswa dan validitas instrumen evaluasi. Oleh karena itu, pemilihan wacana perlu ditinjau ulang agar sesuai dengan kemampuan kognitif siswa dan mendukung tujuan pembelajaran.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur keterampilan menulis puisi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri di Purwokerto menggunakan instrumen berupa rubrik penilaian yang valid dan reliabel. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Sampel diperoleh melalui teknik random sampling yang melibatkan 330 siswa kelas X SMA Negeri di Purwokerto. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes unjuk kerja menulis puisi. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan mengonversi skor menjadi nilai untuk menentukan nilai tertinggi, nilai terendah, dan nilai rata-rata lalu dikategorikan. Penilaian terhadap puisi karya siswa menghasilkan nilai tertinggi 100, nilai terendah 53, dan nilai rata-rata 76 yang masuk ke dalam kategori baik. Meskipun siswa menunjukkan keterampilan yang baik dalam menulis puisi, diperlukan penguatan terhadap kriteria penilaian kekuatan citraan (imajinasi) agar keterampilan menulis puisi siswa dapat berkembang secara lebih komprehensif. Hasil pengukuran dapat digunakan oleh guru Bahasa Indonesia kelas X tingkat SMA sebagai pedoman dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran menulis puisi yang lebih efektif sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need to develop drama teaching materials based on Banyumas folklore, as an effort to provide materials that are relevant to students' needs and characteristics. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. The focus of the study is the needs analysis stage, the first part of the ADDIE development model. The population in this study was all high school students in the Purwokerto area who received drama material in Indonesian Language subjects. From this population, the study collected samples from two schools: SMAN 5 Purwokerto and SMAN 3 Purwokerto. The results showed that students had a positive perception of drama learning and gained meaningful learning experiences, especially in aspects of self-expression, social interaction, and mental strengthening. However, the available teaching materials remained general, did not cover the full range of drama theory, and did not include examples grounded in local culture. Students also indicated a need for more comprehensive teaching materials that cover affective, psychomotor, and cognitive aspects. Furthermore, students have a favorable view of Banyumas folktales as a learning resource, particularly because their geographical and cultural proximity makes it easier for them to understand the values and moral messages conveyed in these tales. These findings confirm the need to develop drama teaching materials based on Banyumas folktales to provide contextual, meaningful, and student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the use of symbolism in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori through the lens of Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory. The novel contains a range of signs that depict traumatic experiences, state violence, and resistance against efforts to erase memory. The research employed content analysis with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data consisting of narrative excerpts, dialogues, and descriptive passages were examined using three levels of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings showed that the five central symbols in the novel namely the sea, waves, four plates prepared every Sunday, the poem “On the Day of My Death,” and fish constructed layered meanings that functioned not only as aesthetic devices but also as ideological representations. These symbols illustrated how political violence penetrated domestic life, how the natural landscape was used to mask brutality, and how words persisted even when the body no longer existed. The study indicated that symbolism in the novel played an important role in shaping readers’ understanding of history, memory, and human suffering. It also demonstrated that literature can serve as a space to preserve memory and to foster conversations about past violence
