Abstract

This type of research is qualitative research, using Liberal Institutional theory and the concept of SDGs. Data collection was conducted through desk research and secondary data techniques to obtain the necessary data. The Miles and Huberman model identifies three main processes in data analysis: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research was conducted as an effort to find out the extent of UNIDO's contribution and implications in the development of the sustainable fisheries sector and towards sustainable development (SDGs) No. 14 in Indonesia in 2019-2023. This research provides academic benefits by enriching the literature on the role of international institutions in the development of sustainable fisheries sector. Practically, the results of this study serve as a guide for policy makers and fisheries industry players in improving quality and sustainability standards. The implementation of Indonesia's GQSP has been going well in all sectors, as a whole. Based on the targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), GQSP has achieved 100% of 52 Output KPIs, 80% of 33 Outcome KPIs and 67.3% of 7 Impact KPIs. In its contribution to improving quality infrastructure and services, strengthening producers and value chains, and building a culture of quality, these aspects have a major contribution. This can be seen from the growth of Indonesian fishery product exports over the past five years (2017-2022). In 2017 Indonesia reached an export figure of 1.08 million tons worth USD 4.52 billion and to 1.22 million tons worth USD 6.24 billion in 2022. UNIDO through GQSP Indonesia has successfully improved the overall quality of Indonesia's fisheries industry. NQIS has brought significant positive impacts in various aspects of fisheries industry development.

Abstract

This study aims to explain CNN's media framing and Instagram's shadow-banning censorship policy related to Israel's aggression against Palestine since October 2023 as an action that contains a constitutive construction of interests. Through CNN's media coverage, the situation between Palestine and Israel is not described as an aggression, occupation, or genocide but as a conflict that occurred due to Hamas's attack on Israel. CNN even only uses diction that places Israel as the party being attacked and limits exposure to the loss of life in Palestine caused by Israel's aggression. The international community sympathises and provides their views regarding the developing situation but is hampered by Instagram's censorship policy through shadow banning. By using an interpretive approach to observe CNN's reporting and Instagram's shadow banning, the results of this study show that both contain US-Israeli constitutive interests in manipulating and controlling international perceptions. This refers to the interest in constructing intersubjective understandings related to Israel's positive image, which simultaneously eliminates Palestine's existence as a nation-state.Keywords: CNN; Instagram; Israel; Knowledge Constitutive Interests; Media Framing; Palestina; Shadow Banning

Abstract

This study aims to describe the shift in the global political economy with the emergence of BRICS as part of the life cycle of international norms. As a global economic cooperation formed in June 2009, BRICS demonstrates its existence regardless of the different ideologies, identities, and interests of its member states. Although BRICS sparked discourse regarding its existence as an emerging power in the global political economy constellation, the participation of countries shows a positive trend. This study assumes that the inclusiveness, egalitarianism, democracy, and multipolarity plays as new norms. To analyze the shift in the global economic order with the emergence of BRICS, this study applies a qualitative research method with an interpretive approach. The Constructivist approach, norm life cycle by Martha Finnemore and Kathryn Sikkink, is used to describe the phenomenon. The results show that the shift in norms in the global economic order indicates the degree of norm promotion in the contestation of new global political economy norms which occurred due to the existence of BRICS. As norm entrepreneurs, BRICS promotes new norms through active socialization. However, BRICS institutionalization in NDB, CRA, and de-dollarization still require more substantial internalization to achieve the consolidation of the economic order.
