Abstract

The appearance of Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who is famous for his fatwas, seems to respond to the need of reform in Islamic legal thought in order for it to be more relevant. His works, such as Al-Ijtihad al-Mu’asir baina al-Indhibat wa al-Infirat, Al-Halal wa al-Haram fi al-Islam dan Min Hadyi al-Islam Fatawa Mu’ashirah, shows his contribution to the development of Islamic legal thought today. Al-Qaradawi says that the need for such a reform due to changes in almost all aspects of human life, where arise new issues that the legal status of which can not be found directly both in the scriptural texts and fatwas of religious scholars in the past. To reply the need of legal reform, al-Qaradawi propossed two methods, namly intiqai (tarjih of the existing fatwas) dan inshai (method to find out solutions for new issues that emerged in contemporary situation), with some requirements. In dealing with contemporary issues, his orientation of developing Islamic legal thought tends to be moderate between the two extreme ones, ifrat (excessive) dan tafrit (oversimplipying). He holds the principle of  ”taysir (to provide comvenience)” and of ”integration between legal views that are salafiah (scriptural) and renewal”, which considers the social change not as a threat to the alienation of Islamic legal tought in the mids of public lives, but as a grace. In his legal perpective, the progress of science and technology that drive the various changes is synonymous with ease.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the education of children according to the hadith. This research is a qualitative type of research using literature study. The results and discussion of this study include an overview of children's education, hadith about children's education, and the concept of child education according to hadith. This study concludes that children's education is an individual formation of a child that aims to develop its potential. Providing education to a child must be accompanied by the ability of educators to see the abilities and skills of a child, because when a child grows up and develops according to his abilities and skills, that is where educators can be said to be successful. According to the hadith there are three basic principles in children's education, namely monotheism, worship, and morals, all three must go hand in hand in educating children. But the most important thing in children's education is the family, because the family is the one who understands the development and abilities of children. This research is expected to have beneficial implications for Muslims, especially families and Islamic educational institutions. This study has limitations, especially in the presentation of hadith about children's education so that it requires further research through a contextual approach.

Abstract

Hadith scholars in Sham have distinctive characteristics compared to others, such as Makkah, Kufah, or Egypt. This is inseparable from the historical background behind the spread of hadith in this region and the war conflicts, which impact the stagnation of the recording of hadith, which is developing rapidly. The main objective of this study is to reveal the characteristics of the hadith madrasa in Sham. The method used is qualitative, in which documents are described and then analyzed, either by comparison with other papers or by developing a transmission model. Sham's hadith scholar was born when the embryo of recording hadiths began to be echoed, so many of the sahabah who recorded hadiths, Sham's hadith scholars, were known for their thorough nature. They were cautious in narrating hadiths where the hadith scholars of Sham had adopted the sighatul ada' method in the tahammul wa al-ada' hadith process. The strongest sanad in terms of 'ittishal' in Syria is al-Auza'i [157 H], from Hasan Athiyah al-Muhāribī Abū Bakr al-Dimasqī [120 H], because the narrators in the sanad this goes beyond the standards set by the muddy. The implications of this research are expected to be able to develop hadith studies, especially those related to regional hadith studies

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic, which began in 2020, has had various impacts on the socio-economic order, evidenced by declining public income, increasing unemployment, and a decrease in export-import activities, all of which have significantly raised the poverty level in Indonesia. Zakat, as an instrument of Islamic philanthropy aligned with its objectives, should be a solution for public welfare. Through MUI Fatwa No. 23 of 2020, zakat has undergone reinterpretation to reduce its exclusivity, demanding equitable social distribution. This research was conducted in West Java at the Persatuan Islam Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ PERSIS) to analyze: (1) The normative and historical foundations of philanthropy in Islam; (2) Social justice philanthropy activities based on zakat; (3) The contribution of social justice philanthropy based on zakat; and (4) The implications of this contribution for the socio-economic status of the community. The theory used is al-Maqāshid Syari’ah as the grand theory. The middle theory employs social justice philanthropy theory, and the applied theory uses tathbiq theory. This is qualitative research using an empirical juridical approach with a descriptive analysis method. The primary data sources for this research are the management of LAZ Persis and the community recipients of Covid-19 aid in West Java. The research findings include: First, the normative and historical foundations of Islamic philanthropy have existed in the Qur’an and Hadith and have been applied since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) until today. Second, social justice philanthropy activities based on zakat include (a) Health Assistance, (b) Basic Necessities, (c) Counseling and Advocacy, (d) Capital Assistance. Third, during the three-year pandemic period in West Java, from the WHO declaration on March 11, 2020, until the pandemic status was lifted in Indonesia on June 21, 2023, LAZ PERSIS contributed aid to 435,292 beneficiaries. Fourth, the research implications include theoretical and practical implications. The theoretical implication offers a new concept of “Holistic Integrative Philanthropy,” a form of social justice philanthropy based on zakat that is inclusive, collaborative, and professional. Practically, during the pandemic, LAZ PERSIS helped 79% of respondents maintain their economic conditions and minimize the risk of contracting the Covid-19 virus.
