Abstract

The 110 Volt DC system is a critical component in substations that supports the operation of control and protection devices. Instability in voltage or current within this system can have severe consequences on the overall performance of the substation. Therefore, real-time monitoring of the 110 Volt DC system is crucial. This research aims to design and implement an Android-based monitoring system supported by Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system utilizes voltage and current sensors integrated with a microcontroller, transmitting data to an Android application via a data communication protocol. The data received by the application can be analyzed in real-time, providing essential information about parameter deviations fromoperational standards. Additionally, the system includes an early warning feature that enables technicians to respond to potential issues before they affect the substation’s operations. Testing has demonstrated that this system effectively improves monitoring efficiency and reduces operational risks in substations. By applying this technology, disruptions in the DC system can be detected early, allowing for rapid and accurate preventive action.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research explores the theme of identity ambiguity in literary works produced by Muslim writers from Turkey and Muslim immigrants in Europe and America, focusing on Muhammad Asad (“Road to Mecca”), Imamu Amiri Baraka (“Some Poems of Imamu Amiri Baraka”), and Abdulrazak Gurnah. These three authors describe their struggles in reconciling their Islamic identity with the different Western cultural environment. Asad through his narrative shows a complex spiritual transformation, attempting to find new meaning in Islam amidst a Western identity crisis. Baraka articulates African-American Muslim identity experiences in the context of political and social struggles, while Gurnah writes about diasporic experiences and postcolonial identity tensions. Important differences emerge when compared to non-Muslim works such as Washington Irving (“Alhambra”) who presents a romanticized narrative of Islam in the past, without internal identity struggles. Similarly, Annemarie Schimmel (“I am the Wind, You are the Fire”) focuses more on the mysticism and spirituality dimensions of Islam without centering on modern identity conflicts. This study concludes that the vacillation between two identities-Islam and the West-is a central theme in the works of Muslim writers, who present diverse approaches to spiritual, social and cultural issues in the modern world. Keywords: Literature, Identity, Muslim Literature, Balance. Abstract

Abstract This paper addresses the issues and narrative patterns of Muslim literature in Malaysia and Indonesia through a comparative analysis of two important novels, Para Priyayi, by Omar Khayyam, and Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck, by Buya Hamka. These two stories take us into the dynamic world of tradition and modernity, social status, and religious identity in Southeast Asian Muslim societies. On the one hand, Para Priyayi, depicts the complex Javanese elite Muslim mind and its colonial life, while on the other hand, Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck, highlights social status, love, and the conflict between Minangkabau customs and Islamic departure. Through the analysis of the novels, we seek to prove how the narratives of both stories not only represent the development of conflicting images of Muslim identity within their cultural contexts, but also meld harmoniously within the broader tradition of Islamic literary narratives. Keywords: Narrative Patterns, Social Issues, Para Priyayi, Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck Abstrak Makalah ini membahas isu dan pola narasi sastra Muslim di Malaysia dan Indonesia melalui analisis komparatif dua novel penting, Para Priyayi, karya Omar Khayyam, dan Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck, karya Buya Hamka. Abstract

The Great Gatsby is one of F. Scott Fitzgerald's most notable works, inspired by his personal experiences with wealth, love, and ambition, particularly reflecting his life on Long Island and his relationship with Zelda Sayre. The novel shows the Jazz Age, an era of extravagance in 1920s America, and analysed into the disillusionment of the American Dream, symbolized by Jay Gatsby’s story and journey. Gatsby's transformation from James Gatz and his lavish lifestyle are depicted as efforts to win Daisy Buchanan's love, but in the end reveal the emptiness of materialism. The novel also explores themes of identity, deception, and the moral decay of society, emphasizing the gap between old and new wealth. Symbolism plays a key role, with settings like East Egg and West Egg representing social class divisions, and Gatsby’s mansion symbolizing his hollow success. Through these symbols and themes, Fitzgerald critiques the pursuit of wealth as a path to happiness and illustrates the failure of the American Dream. Fitzgerald also uses colour symbols such as gold, silver, white, and yellow to show power and wealth in the novel.

Abstract

Abstract In George Orwell's novel Animal Farm, the animals are used as symbols of historical figures to illustrate the dynamics of power and the transformation of idealism into tyranny. Orwell explores themes of rebellion against tyranny, betrayal of the principles of equality, and the manipulation of power through characters such as Napoleon and Snowball. The novel portrays events that reflect the Russian Revolution, with symbols such as the farm representing society. Orwell demonstrates how decision-making, manipulation, and changes in roles influence the transition from hopes for equality to oppressive power. Animal Farm not only critiques the mechanisms of power in politics but also offers insights into the inherent risks of corruption in governance systems. With its strong allegorical elements, the novel provides a universal lesson on the dynamics of power and the betrayal of revolutionary ideals Keywords: Political Allegory, Character Visualization, Main Themes, Symbols Abstrak Dalam novel Animal Farm karya George Orwell, hewan-hewan dijadikan simbol tokoh-tokoh sejarah untuk mengilustrasikan dinamika kekuasaan dan transformasi idealisme menjadi tirani. Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the lack of morality in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby as seen from the social and economic context, the morals of the main characters, the theme of betrayal and disappointment, moral symbolism, and modern relevance. The social and economic context highlights the background of the Jazz Age and the American Dream and the impact of materialism on the behavior and values of society at that time. The morals of the main characters: Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, and Tom Buchanan are described in detail about their lack of morality. The theme of betrayal and disillusionment which is a common topic in the novel exposes the relationships between characters and moral betrayal, Gatsby's disillusionment with the idealism of love, and society's reaction to moral offences. Moral symbolism examines the symbol of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg's eyes as a representation of moral surveillance and the colors and visual elements depicting moral helplessness. Finally, modern relevance provides an overview of how the themes of morality in the novel are still relevant to modern society. The results of this analysis are presented to provide new insights into how the Jazz Age and the idea of the American Dream affect aspects of morality.
