Abstract

Emergency conditions involving respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest which require prompt and accurate intervention to save the victim’s life and help for stabilization until advanced medical assistance arrives or the patient transferred to an appropriate healthcare facility. The general public can contribute by giving basic life support (BLS). To ensure that these lifesaving principles are applied correctly, education and training on basic life support and victim transport evacuation are essential. Students of SMK Kesehatan Darussalam Bergas, Semarang Regency, represent a potential group to receive training in BLS and emergency transport evacuation. The goal of this community service was to improve participants’ knowledge and skills in giving BLS and victim transport during emergency situations. The training was conducted over two days using lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and role play methods. Result which shown from pre-test and post-test assessment indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills regarding BLS and victim transport evacuation form 7,48%  increase  to 82,24%  for  good knowledge. Continuous education and training BLS and emergency transport are crucial foundations for effective emergency management.   ABSTRAK Kondisi kegawatdaruratan henti nafas dan henti jantung mengharuskan pertolongan diberikan dengan tepat dan akurat sehingga dapat menyelamatkan korban serta membantu stabilisasi sampai pertolongan datang atau sampai ke fasilitas kesehatan yang memadai. Tindakan yang dapat dilakukan oleh masyarakat secara umum yaitu memberikan bantuan hidup dasar. Agar prinsip pertolongan dapat diberikan dengan benar dan tepat diperlukan edukasi dan pelatihan tentang hidup dasar dan evakuasi transport korban. Siswa-siswi SMK Kesehatan Darussalam Bergas Kabupaten Semarang merupakan pelajar yang potensial untuk diberikan pelatihan bantuan hidup dasar (BHD) dan evakuasi transport korban. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan BHD serta evakuasi transport korban pada kondisi kegawatdaruratan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dengan ceramah, tanya jawab, demonstrasi dan role play selama dua hari. Hasil pre tes dan pos tes pelatihan dan edukasi selama dua hari tentang BHD dan evakuasi transport menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan yaitu meningkat dari 7,48% untuk pengetahuan baik menjadi 82,24%. Edukasi dan pelatihan secara berkesinambungan tentang BHD dan evakuasi transport perlu dilakukan sebagai dasar dalam penanganan kegawatdaruratan.

Abstract

Background: Infant massage is a non-invasive, low-cost intervention that supports early childhood growth and development and is increasingly promoted in community health programs. However, evidence on its relationship with Body Mass Index (BMI) and early psychomotor milestone achievement in low- and middle-income countries, particularly Indonesia, remains limited. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of infant massage on BMI and early psychomotor milestones among infants aged 3–12 months in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Methods: This study used a quantitative design with multiple linear regression analysis. The population consisted of infants aged 3–12 months in Semarang Regency, Indonesia, with a purposive sample of 250 infants. Inclusion criteria were good health status, age 3–12 months, and parental consent, while infants with congenital anomalies or developmental disorders were excluded. BMI was the dependent variable, and independent variables included infant massage frequency, psychomotor milestone achievement, feeding adequacy, and parental stimulation. Data were collected using WHO-standardized BMI measurements and psychomotor milestone checklists. Infant massage followed the standardized Love Baby Massage technique. Ethical approval was obtained, and data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with p-values, confidence intervals, and effect sizes reported. Results: Descriptive analysis indicated that the majority of infants received regular massage and exhibited nutritional status within the WHO reference standards. Regression analysis demonstrated that infant massage frequency and psychomotor milestone achievement were significant predictors of BMI (p < 0.05). Feeding adequacy showed a positive association with BMI and a moderate effect size, while parental stimulation exhibited a smaller and statistically nonsignificant direct effect. Collectively, the independent variables contributed substantially to explaining variations in BMI among infants aged 3–12 months. Conclusion: Regular infant massage plays a meaningful role in improving BMI and supporting early psychomotor development. Integrating massage practices with adequate nutrition and parental engagement is recommended as a comprehensive strategy to optimize infant growth and early development, consistent with SDG 3.

Abstract

Personal health is a positive habit that should be developed from an early age to support healthy growth, prevent diseases, and foster awareness of self-care independently. Sexual health is a condition of well-being related to sexual aspects, including basic understanding of the body, gender differences, personal boundaries, and ways to protect oneself from inappropriate actions. Personal health and sexual health are important aspects of child development. In providing health education to elementary school children, appropriate learning media are required. One of the suitable learning media for elementary school students is visual media. The main objective of this community service activity was to improve the knowledge and understanding of elementary school students regarding personal health and sexual health through visual-based learning. The method used in this activity was educational intervention using visual media. The results showed an improvement in students’ knowledge of personal and sexual health after the implementation of visual media-based education, as indicated by pre-test and post-test scores, with 337 out of 497 students achieving good knowledge levels. Students were more active and enthusiastic during the learning process and were able to mention ways to maintain personal hygiene and identify body parts that need to be protected. In conclusion, the use of visual media in learning has proven to be effective in improving the knowledge and understanding of elementary school students regarding personal and sexual health. Visual media are easy for children to understand and can be recommended as an effective learning method in health education for elementary school students.   ABSTRAK Kesehatan diri merupakan kebiasaan positif sejak dini agar dapat tumbuh dengan tubuh yang sehat, terhindar dari penyakit, memiliki kesadaran untuk merawat diri secara mandiri. Kesehatan seksual merupakan kondisi kesejahteraan yang berkaitan dengan aspek seksual meliputi kesehatan seksual yang berupa aktivitas seksual, pemahaman dasar mengenai tubuh, perbedaan jenis kelamin, batasan diri, serta cara melindungi diri dari tindakan yang tidak pantas. Kesehatan diri dan kesehatan seksual merupakan aspek penting dalam tumbuh kembang anak. Dalam pemberian pemahaman pada anak sekolah dasar terkait kesehatan, memerlukan media pembelajaran yang tepat. Salah satu media pembelajaran yang baik untuk anak sekolah dasar adalah media visual. Tujuan utama kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar tentang kesehatan diri dan kesehatan seksual melalui edukasi dengan media visual. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah edukasi dengan menggunakan media visual. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan siswa tentang kesehatan diri dan kesehatan seksual setelah diberikan edukasi menggunakan media visual dilihat dari nilai pre-test dan post-test yang menunjukkan pengetahuan baik sebanyak 337 siswa dari 497 siswa. Siswa terlihat lebih aktif dan antusias serta mampu menyebutkan cara menjaga kebersihan diri serta memahami bagian tubuh yang perlu dilindungi. Kesimpulan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah penerapan media visual dalam pembelajaran terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar tentang kesehatan diri dan kesehatan seksual dan mudah dipahami oleh anak. Penggunaan media visual dapat direkomendasikan sebagai salah satu metode pembelajaran yang efektif dalam edukasi kesehatan pada anak sekolah dasar.
