Abstract

Women of childbearing age are very vulnerable to having difficulty in determining a proper contraceptive method due to poor knowledge about the safety of these contraceptive methods. Counseling with Decision-Making Aids is an important thing in the provision of family planning services. WHO has developed Decision-Making Tool as a manual family planning decision aid which was adapted by BKKBN and STARH as “Alat Bantu Pengambilan Keputusan ber-KB”. Such tool is made in the form of a booklet with two sides which is still rarely used by midwives when conducting family planning counseling. This study aims to analyze the results of trial on application-based "ABPK" product. This was a study with the Research and Development method. The study population was all midwives who provided family planning services as many as 10 people and Women of Childbearing Age who visited Sukorejo Community Health Center, Pasuruan for family planning service in August–October 2020 as many as 40 people. The samples involved Women of Childbearing Age who met the inclusion criteria selected with total sampling. The study instrument used here was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The results of the study showed that the developed "ABPK ber-KB" application was considered good and feasible to be used as a counseling media with a value of 86%. In addition, this android-based application medium was relatively easy to use, more interesting, and informative.

Abstract

Lack of awareness of parents in providing a good role for children can lead to sibling rivalry behavior. Sibling rivalry behavior can be overcome with a good parental role, one of which is by providing appropriate educational media, namely video educational media and e-booklet educational media. This study aims to determine the differences between video educational media and e-booklets on the role of parents regarding sibling rivalry in a early childhood learning center. The research method uses a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this study used the total sampling technique, namely 32 respondents who met the sample criteria. Data collection by dividing educational media groups, videos and e-booklets. Each group was given a pretest, then given educational media within seven consecutive days and the role of parents was measured using a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney test. The Wilcoxon test results obtained an Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is an influence of providing video educational media and e-booklet educational media on increasing the role of parents regarding sibling rivalry in early childhood. And the results of the Mann-Whitney test obtained a value of (2-tailed) 0.264 <0.05, which means that there is no difference between video educational media and e-booklets on the role of parents regarding sibling rivalry in early childhood. Based on the results of the research, video educational media and e-booklets should be considered as additional information and changes in the role of parents.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is pain experienced by teenagers during menstruation. Based on the level of pain, dysmenorrhea is divided into 2, primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea occurs in adolescence, about 2 until 3 years after the first menstruation, pain originating from uterine contractions stimulated by prostaglandins. Risk factors for dysmenorrhea can be caused by menarche at an early age, nutritional status, family history, coffee consumption, fast food habits. Adolescents with a body mass index more than normal have high levels of prostaglandins that can lead to primary dysmenorrhea. Adolescents with anemia or less than normal hemoglobin level, feel dysmenorrhoeic pain or pain during menstruation. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of subcutaneous fat, body mass index, hemoglobin level with primary dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls. The population in this study was 44 people, sampling is done by total sampling. Hypothesis testing using Chi Square test T approximately same as 0,05 and logistic regression. The results of logistic regression test found that there was a correlation between subcutaneous fat namely 0.004 is smaller than 0.05 and hemoglobin level namely 0.008 is smaller than 0.05 while for body mass index, there was no correlation with primary dysmenorrhea namely 0.152 is greater than 0.05. It is hoped that this research can be further developed regarding other risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea in young women.

Abstract

The duration of labour is influenced by 3 main factors, namely power, passage, passanger. Control of these factors is thought to be able to influence the duration of labor so as to minimize the incidence of complications caused by prolonged labour.  Maternal nutritional status, one of which is the weight gain during pregnancy, allegedly affects power and passanger as factors that play an important role in labour. This study aims to determine the effect of maternal weight gain during pregnancy on uterine contractions and fetal weight at Srikandi IBI Public Hospital, Jember, East Java. This research is an observational analytic study, a cross-sectional approach with sample size of 92 mothers giving birth at Srikandi General Hospital in Jember. Collected data was analyzed by inferential analysis using path analysis. It was found that the maternal weight gain during pregnancy had a significant effect on the fetal weight (t-value 3.77 with an estimated value of 0.37), but did not affect uterine contractions either in frequency (t-value 1.62) or duration (t -value 0.69). So it can be concluded that the greater maternal weight gain during pregnancy, the greater the fetal weight. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that health workers will provide assistance so that pregnant women pay attention to increasing body weight during pregnancy based on BMI, so that there are no labor complications due to passanger factors.

Abstract

Introduction: Women’s empowerment related to pregnancy plays an important role in enhancing maternal and infant health, during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. However, the determinants of women’s empowerment in the context of pregnancy are still not fully understood, particularly in middle-income countries. This study aimed to determine the level of women’s empowerment related to pregnancy and identify its associations with sociodemographic characteristics. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design involving pregnant women who underwent antenatal care at various health facilities in Malang, Indonesia. The Pregnancy Empowerment Scale (PRES) questionnaire has been used to measure the level of empowerment of women to control their health during pregnancy, which consists of four subscales: Provider Connectedness, Skillful Decision-Making, Peer Connectedness, and Getting Voice. This questionnaire has been distributed to 413 pregnant women. Sociodemographic characteristics assessed included age, gestational age, parity, pregnancy risk factors, household income, and average distance to antenatal care centers. The data were analysed using multiple linear regression analysis to determine the relationship between the factors and the level of empowerment. Results: The results of this study indicate that the majority (95.6%) of pregnant women have high women’s empowerment, while the average distance from the antenatal care centre is the only significant and positive sociodemographic factor influencing women’s empowerment related to pregnancy. However, the overall contribution of sociodemographic variables to this empowerment is relatively small. The regression model shows R² = 0.041, allowing for unmeasured psychosocial or cultural factors that could play a role. Conclusion: Sociodemographic factors play an important role in women’s empowerment related to pregnancy. To enhance empowerment, community-based approaches that consider access to health services and improvement of family economic welfare should be considered.
