Abstract

This study aims to describe the career maturity of Baitul Tanwil Muhammadiyah (BTM’s) employees during the COVID-19 pandemic that affects their confidence in the Syariah economy in Padang. This study was conducted with a descriptive quantitative method and the population was all employees of BTM in West Sumatra totaling 39. The number of samples was determined using the convenience sampling technique, namely based on the ease of finding the participants (Guilford & Frucher, 1978), while the instrument used was a career maturity scale consisting of 51 statement items. This scale is based on career maturity dimensions, namely Planning, Exploration, Decision Making, and World of Work, according to Thompdon et al., (1981). The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between career maturity and the confidence of baitul tanwil employees in taqwa Muhamadiyah with r = 0.499 and p = 0.000 (p <0.05) which means H0 is rejected or Ha is accepted. Moreover, a value of 0.202 was obtained which means that there is a 20.2% contribution of career maturity to self-confidence, while the remaining 79.8% is determined by other factors and aspects.

Abstract

The development of the retail business that has penetrated Indonesia, including West Sumatra has spurred the expertise of the Minang ethnic as street vendors. This study aimed to determine the career expertise of street vendors and the factors that influence it in the city of Padang, West Sumatera. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach to street vendors in Padang City. The data was taken in 2021 by using purposive sampling technique. The subjects in this study consisted of three street vendors and additional informants which were government officials and close friends. The result of the study revealed that career skills of Minang ethnicity are different in each subject. In the career exploration aspect, the subject is able to utilize various sources of information about the world of work in contrast to other subjects, only learning with the environment without utilizing various sources of information for work and potential sources such as counseling counselor. Furthermore, in the aspect of making career decisions, all subjects have good ability in making decisions, it's just that as traders it is necessary for the three subjects to make clear bookkeeping to facilitate the progress of their merchandise. Also, environmental factors, including the culture of the Minang ethnic itself has influenced the career expertise of street vendors in the city of Padang. For this reason, it is necessary to increase the knowledge and skills of Minang ethnic street vendors.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between gratitude and subjective well-being of parents who have mentally retarded children in SLB Negeri 2 Padang. The measuring instrument in this research is a psychological scale that reveals aspects of the research in the form of statement items. Data were collected using two scales, namely the thankful scale and the subjective welfare scale. The scale of gratitude is referred to from Al-Ghazali's theory whose operation is based on the interpretation of the verses concerning gratitude. Whereas the scale of subjective well-being is referred to from the theory of diener which states that subjective well-being consists of two dimensions, namely affective and cognitive. The subjects in this study were parents who have mental retardation children in SLB Negeri 2 Padang, amounting to 83 people. The data collection technique in this research is to use simple random sampling which means that each subject has the same opportunity to be chosen. The results of the correlation analysis showed a relationship between gratitude and subjective well-being among parents who have intellectual disabilities in SLB Negeri 2 Padang. The correlation coefficient of the results of data analysis amounted to 0.156 (rxy = 0.516 p <0.05). The general description of the research data shows that the thankful level of parents of mentally retarded children is included in the high criteria with a percentage of 56% and the high subjective well-being of mentally retarded children at 62%. This means that the mentally retarded child's parents are able to be enthusiastic in educating their children and accepting their child's condition gracefully.

Abstract

This research is motivated by parental divorce which has an impact on adolescent self-confidence. Based on preliminary observations, it was shown that some teenagers experienced the impact of their parents' divorce on their self-confidence, such as closing themselves off, being shy, having difficulty interacting socially. While the purpose of this study is to describe self-confidence from the aspect of social interaction, independence and an optimistic attitude. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. The subject of this research is adolescent victims of parental divorce. How to collect data with non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling approach. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews, and documentation. While the data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and verification or conclusions. The results of this study from the aspect of social interaction that some teenagers are able to interact socially but some are not. As for the aspect of independence, it shows that in general adolescents are independent in terms of economics, but there are adolescents who are not independent in terms of education. Meanwhile, from the aspect of an optimistic attitude, it shows that teenagers have high optimism to achieve their goals and success in the future, but there are also teenagers who are resigned to the situation that is happening, and do not have a distant view of the future.

Abstract

This study examines the career interests of Minangkabau young adults living in Lubuk Linggau using the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) framework. A mixed-methods explanatory sequential design was conducted, starting with quantitative data from 78 members of the Minang Family Association assessed through Holland’s RIASEC model, followed by in-depth qualitative interviews. The findings show that the Realistic type dominates career interests, followed by Artistic, Enterprising, Investigative, Social, and Conventional. Qualitative results reveal that career preferences develop through early apprenticeship experiences, informal skill learning within the merantau tradition, and exposure to entrepreneurial role models in diaspora networks. Internal motivation and self-confidence interact with family expectations, educational pathways, and cultural values emphasizing resilience and independence in work. Theoretically, this study contributes to SCCT by demonstrating cultural migration practices shape self-efficacy and outcome expectations. Practically, the findings suggest the need for culturally responsive career guidance to support youth employability in diaspora contexts. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-regulation dengan burnout pada guru SD IT Madani Islamic School Payakumbuh. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 62 guru dan seluruh populasi dijadikan sampel melalui teknik total sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan skala self-regulation berdasarkan teori Zimmerman dan skala burnout berdasarkan teori Maslach. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat self-regulation guru berada pada kategori tinggi dengan persentase 85,5%, sedangkan tingkat burnout berada pada kategori rendah dengan persentase 66,1%. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara self-regulation dan burnout dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar r = -0,649 dan nilai signifikansi p = 0,000 (p < 0,05). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi kemampuan self-regulation yang dimiliki guru, maka semakin rendah tingkat burnout yang dialaminya. Oleh karena itu, penguatan self-regulation penting dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis guru.
