Abstract

Indonesian Police attempt to reduce the fatality rate of traffic accidents by enforcing the law on speed restrictions using speed cameras. The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas), from 2017 to 2018, had installed 75 units of speed cameras along Jakarta Toll Roads including Cikampek, Jagorawi, Bitung, and many others. By the end of 2020, Korlantas is expected to install 75 more units on the arterial roads of Jakarta. This study aims to analyze the implementation of vehicle speed deceleration through signs and speed cameras in the control zone. The data analyzed by comparing the speed of vehicles when crossing the control zone using the normal distribution Z test, with a 5% margin of error. The research shows that speed deceleration policy using signs and speed cameras in the control zone reduces the speed by 9% or equal to an average speed of 8 km/hour. Drivers who obeyed the speed limit reach 76.6% or 230 vehicles from 302 vehicle samples, where most of them are buses, followed by passenger cars and freight cars, respectively. The application of speed deceleration using signs and speed cameras in the toll toad meets the planning target and is recommended to be implemented across the country.

Abstract

Traffic congestion is a complex problem that has wide-ranging impacts on various aspects of community life, particularly in rapidly urbanizing suburban areas such as Sentul, a satellite city located in the Bogor Regency of West Java, Indonesia. This study aims to identify the main causes of congestion and analyze its impacts on social, economic, and environmental aspects. The research focuses on MH Thamrin Street in Sentul, a strategic corridor with high traffic intensity. A mixed-methods approach was used, incorporating field observations, questionnaire surveys, and in-depth interviews. The research findings indicate that the primary causes of congestion at the site include high vehicle volume, ineffective traffic management, roadside obstacles, and undisciplined road user behavior. The resulting impacts include increased travel time, fuel waste, commuter stress, and reduced local economic productivity. As such, these findings are expected to inform the formulation of more responsive and sustainable urban transport policies in similar areas.

Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia has increased the complexity and cost of last-mile delivery. Parcel lockers offer a potential solution to reduce distribution inefficiencies, such as increased vehicle travel distance, congestion, and emissions associated with home delivery, while also improving service quality through flexible parcel collection. This study develops an optimization model for parcel locker placement in residential areas by utilizing minimarkets as potential facility locations, using an incapacitated p-median approach. The model aims to minimize the total system cost, consisting of distribution costs and user access costs, with service quality represented by access distance. The analysis is conducted using 210 demand points across seven subdistricts in Tebet District, South Jakarta, with 44 minimarkets as candidate locations. Two scenarios are compared: without and with administrative boundary constraints. The results indicate that the unrestricted scenario provides better service quality, reflected in shorter access distances, along with lower system costs. In contrast, the restricted scenario leads to longer access distances and higher system costs. Quantitatively, the implementation of parcel lockers reduces total distribution travel distance by up to 70% compared to home delivery. These findings demonstrate that optimizing parcel locker locations can improve logistics system efficiency and support sustainable urban transport planning.

Abstract

The development of public transport in Indonesia is an important factor in supporting community mobility, especially in inter-city travel. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the choice of transport mode between buses and airplanes on the Palembang-Jakarta route. This study uses the binary logistic regression method to identify the probability of users choosing one mode of transport based on various factors. Inter-city mobility in Indonesia is increasing, especially for travel between Palembang and Jakarta. The choice of efficient modes of transport is an important factor for users, with two main modes available, namely buses and airplanes. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the choice of transportation mode by considering variables such as travel costs, travel time, comfort, safety, and accessibility. The research method used is binary logistic regression, which allows for the analysis of the probability of mode selection based on influential factors. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey involving respondents who had travelled from Palembang to Jakarta. Based on the results of the study, optimization of public transport services is needed to improve competitiveness and enhance travel comfort and safety. This study provides insights for transport service providers and policymakers in designing more efficient and sustainable transport policies.

Abstract

Urban mobility in Greater Jakarta is characterized by high commuter volumes between suburban and urban core areas, with daily MRT Jakarta ridership averaging 124,397 passengers in 2025, yet first-mile and last-mile station accessibility remains a persistent challenge. This study evaluates the potential for improving MRT Jakarta accessibility through bicycle integration as first-mile and last-mile modes, and estimates acceptable pricing for public bike-sharing and private bicycle parking. A Stated Preference (SP) approach was employed with 385 respondents within a 3 km radius of Lebak Bulus MRT Station, where the existing access mode was disaggregated into seven categories and compared against private bicycle and bike-sharing alternatives, generating twenty-one utility equations estimated through logistic regression. Each alternative's systematic utility was specified as a function of cost, distance, and travel time, with resulting coefficients translated into a generalized cost function and a mode choice probability and sensitivity analysis. Results indicate strong mode-shift potential across all seven existing-mode groups, with the probability of retaining the existing access mode falling to roughly 2-4% while the combined shift probability to cycling exceeds 95% under improved conditions. Cost exerts a consistently negative and statistically significant effect on cycling choice, confirming that higher fares reduce adoption likelihood, while distance and travel time generally lower utility as expected. Private bicycles show higher selection probability than bike-sharing, though the latter remains a viable complementary alternative. Overall, cycling integration with MRT Jakarta holds strong potential to enhance accessibility, driven by affordable pricing and supportive infrastructure.

Abstract

The city of Banjarmasin, as the center of economic growth in South Kalimantan, faces significant challenges in terms of mobility. The development of river public transportation is one of the alternatives to overcome urban transportation problems. This study has significance in providing a holistic view of the factors that need to be considered in the selection of river transportation modes that are integrated with land transportation. The study was conducted in the areas of North Alalak Village and Sungai Lulut Village. The data processing method in this study involves testing the completeness of primary and secondary data to describe field conditions, then analyzing the preferences for choosing transportation modes using the AHP method which includes steps such as defining problems, creating hierarchical structures, conducting pairs comparisons, calculating eigenvalues and testing consistency, while the data analysis stage includes the calculation of consistency ratios, consistency vector, average of entries (Zmax) and Consistency Index (CI) to determine the final preference of each alternative. The analysis of priority weights between criteria is calculated to find out the order of the most influential criteria in selecting transportation modes. The results of the study can provide guidance for decision-making at the level of governments, transport companies and communities in developing and adopting more efficient transport systems. This research is expected to be useful for the author to expand insights, for the government and operators as input in the development of integrated transportation, and for the general public as a reference for more efficient modes of transportation.

Abstract

Since deregulation in the aviation industry, competition among airlines has intensified. This competition is shown by the increasing number of routes, service times, aircraft, and airports served. This competition causes not all flight services to meet their targets, resulting in aircraft operating less efficiently. Passenger seats are not filled, and flight delays are becoming more frequent. Obviously, this will negatively impact consumers and the airline's finances. The study focused on assigning the fleet used to serve flights to maintain existing aviation services and improve aircraft operational efficiency. This study aims to maximize profits by optimizing fleet assignments through the Centralized Fleet Assignment Management (CFAM) strategy. In general, airlines regulate the assignment of their respective fleets. However, in this CFAM, the fleet assignment strategy is carried out centrally by a single management, as if it were a joint company. Integer Programming was used in this study to optimize the aviation fleet assignment model. The purpose of this model is to determine the most appropriate fleet for flights to maximize profits. The results of the study show that the CFAM strategy generates higher profits than in previous conditions, and the aircraft assignment composition is also obtained. With this strategy, evidently, airlines as a system will benefit financially, helping them avoid potential bankruptcy that could have serious consequences for flights. The strategy also offers a different perspective and new nuances to flight service management. In addition, the most important result of this study is that it can serve as a basis for government policy, in this case as a regulator of air transportation services, to ensure the continued operation of aviation services.
